Restore your computer to the day before he came.sm
Start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore, then follow directions. Hope this helps.
find System Restore on your computer.....sm
You need to find System Restore on your computer.  Go to START, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, then click on System Restore and set it to a date when everything was working just fine and dandy for you (like a couple of days ago or so) and then everything should come up nice....the way it used to be for you.
You might have to do a system restore to the time before she sent file. Vista is still too buggy
s
Restore to a previous date. Backup files next time.

You may have gotten it back from the recycle bin, but system restore does not restore documents.

Try dell.com/recycling

I'm no computer genius but my monitor does it all the time sm
When??  When my cell phone is near by and something goes on with it, like a message comes through via email (I have a BlackBerry now).  However, it did it before with my regular cell phone too - so I came to the conclusion that someone nearby was getting a phone call or something.  Nothing has ever happened to my monitor...

A computer's OS (operating system) is only meant for a 1 time install on 1 pc. People like yours

who abuse this are just looking for a cheap break, jack up the price (theoretically speaking) for the rest of us, and are asking for a myriad of problems on their pcs.  To deter this behavior, about 1 year ago, many computer companies ceased to include all software when packaging the pc for shipment.  It is because of software abuse/misuse, computers that are delivered with a pre-installed OS are delivered without the OS + other necessary software, due to behaviors such as yours and many others.  However, if you call the company and verbally request all software: OS (installation CD), as well as other necessary software (tools systems, drivers, diagnostics, utilities, print driver, internet security, and WP/Word/Excel, et al), they will gladly send it to you free of charge.

Question about earlier
post. I see that one of you would not give your son's SS# to the high school. How would this work if you were registering your child for Kindergarten? They told me it was the law that they had to have it. Is that not true?
They were there earlier this morning.

Somewhere on this board earlier in the
past 1 to 2 weeks someone wrote that they had gotten the Antivirus 2009/2008 on their computer and that McAfee now has a service where they will dial in on your computer and repair it for $40 to $80 for viruses, spyware, hijackers, etc.; which is a lot cheaper than taking it in to a repair shop and dropping it off. I am not sure if you have to have a subscription or now to McAfee for them to do this, but would be worth checking out.
It went up to $2.29 yesterday, was $2.16 earlier this week...
I'm glad I work at home!
If it worked earlier in the document SM
the paintbrush on the toolbar - highlight a paragraph (including the paragraph mark itself) that DOES work, click painter, then click in the paragraph you want to reformat and it should add that tab (as well as any other embedded formatting in the paragraph you copied from).

I am also an IC for a company I started with in March and confused as to why I would need a credit card for business purchases, etc.
and that I am not to worry about paying quartly? My accountant told me to do this and that was it.

I have only been taking 20% out of my pay and sending it in to the U.S. Treasury. Is that wrong? It sounds like I should be doing a lot more. A little confused and nervous.

I had the same problem for a short while earlier in the day

Me, too. I was going to post earlier, but didn't
have the energy. I had the twitching thumb first about a year ago, now aches and pains every week that move or migrate all over, too. Numb legs, butt that kills me - seriously, I nearly cry when I sit down or stand up. Then it moves to my neck, or shoulders, and then back to legs. It is horrible pain, and I'm getting really worried that I'm not going to hold up for this job much longer. Its so pathetic - sitting in a chair and falling apart. I was wondering if it could be fibromyalgia-type symptoms. Horrible. You are not alone! I have also bought so many ergonomic things - chair, keyboard, mouse "platform", and forget it. Oh yes, even lighting, and I still am in pain all over the second I sit down in this chair.
Had issues earlier this morning,

QA Help: Earlier I transcribed a report where
the doctor used a really offensive curse phrase.  He was actually quoting what the patient said (ER report).  He said place this in quotes.  It was a really ugly thing to say (mother F word).  Even though it's in quotes as what the patient apparently said, I felt uncomfortable actually transcribing it.  And believe me I'm no prude.  I've heard it all (and said some of it).  However, it just seemed really unprofessional and not appropriate in a medical document. It's not like it was a psych report.  In fact, it really had no relevance whatsoever, in my opinion, but I could be wrong I guess.  So,  I left a blank.  But now I'm thinking, was that really not my call?  Should I have just transcribed it?  What would any of you out there have done?  QA?  What do you advise in cases like this?  It's happened before but never as filthy as this.
I wondered that as soon as I opened it earlier, LOL.nm

About system restore, sorry about that
nm
I wonder if you can use System Restore
to recover that document. That worked for me once.
that's right but first you have to set it to backup so that you can restore
x
Have you tried doing a system restore?
.
You can restore your system, but I'm not sure if that will do it (sm)

Could it be in your recycle bin?  If you see anything in there that could be it, right click and restore.  If that doesn't help, you can restore your whole system back to a certain date.  I have done this before when I got a virus I couldn't delete.  Start, Run, msconfig <enter>, launch system restore.  You will be given the chance to pick a date to restore back to.

do you have system restore?
If you use/have system restore set up, you can go back to the date prior to this problem, and things should go right back to normal....read about system restore on your system in the HELP (F1) area
System Restore
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore.
You can also restore your system...
Go to Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, System Tools, then pick SYSTEM RESTORE.

Pick a date you're positive was before the virus was contracted, and restore to that date.

BTW, poster above about the malwarebytes site is correct...It works, and it's also pretty cool to watch it run and "quarantine" the viruses. My computer had 67 of them at one time, unbeknownst to me.

Good luck!!!
Bankruptcy is not that bad- filed earlier this year and
bought a truck 2 months ago and I am currently working with Lending Tree to buy a house and hope to close in the next month.  So there is life after bankruptcy.
Also, if you can switch the hours you work, get up earlier,
and work after he goes to bed. Make the time for him while he's young. In about 3-5 years he'll be less worried about you working and wanting to spend time with you, so enjoy him while he's young cuz it doesn't last long. :)
The one I listed earlier does. Link inside....

Towards the bottom there is a pull down to pick speciality, and chiropractor is one of them.

I tend to agree with this. I was thinking this earlier--sm
when I read the OP, but everyone seemed to conclude that it was none of her business what the other employee did. However, in my opinion, if the MTSO found out about it from another source, and believe me, she would eventually, it could come back on the other MT as having known about it and said nothing. Everything in this world, these days, is a cover your butt situation. If you knew about it and said nothing, then you are just as much to blame as the one who was doing it....against the contract with the MTSO. Protect your own interests first, and do not worry about the one who is doing wrong. silence is condoning her wrong doing and that makes you (the other MT who knows about it) just as guilty. JMO. So, I guess I am on the side of the MTSO. Sorry.
I posted earlier about small print
Well, got that fixed and I be darned if now the screen seems to be flickering between pink and white. It is not just my eyes- driving me crazy and trying to work, almost impossible. i had tried several things including going into properties and trying to reset the font size. Can anyone else give assistance? I am not enjoying today. Thanks!
oops - never mind earlier question!
just read your answer!!
Earlier Poster with Keyboard Lag Problem (sm)

I've been thinking about your problem and recommended some possible answers, but something else has been nagging at the back of my mind.  There is also the possibility of a keystroke logger that is intercepting your Keystrokes before passing them along to the screen.

A keystroke logger can be a physical device placed between your keyboard and your computer, or it can be even be installed inside the keyboard.  It can also be a bit of software that intercepts and records keystrokes.  Sometimes this is a commercial application (like parents use to watch what their kids are doing online), but it can also come surreptitiously in the form of malware called a "rootkit" - which you can think of as a "supervirus" on your computer.

I suppose it's also possible that a spybot (another form of malware) could also be doing this.

Bottom line:  Be sure you're using good antivirus and antispyware software, keep them updated, open NOTHING that comes in your email that you don't specifically recognize, and don't follow links that come in emails you don't trust, no matter how "official" they appear to be (like, from your bank or credit card company).

All hail System Restore! (sm)

The DSL went out in my complex the other day, and when it was restored, nothing I could do could restore connection on my work computer.  The manager brought his laptop over and proved the connection was fine.  My tech-savvy daughter and I checked and rechecked everything, then laughed when the Hardware Lord came home and rechecked all the same things we had tried.

Finally she reminded me about System Restore; I restored to the previous day, and all was well.

Don't know about System Restore on Windows XP systems?  Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore and make sure yours is turned on and sufficient memory allocated.  In addition to the automatic restore points WinXP schedules, make certain you create a restore point before you change any significant settings on your system or install or uninstall software.  Note that it only restores settings, not deleted files or programs.

There are some forms of Spyware which hide out in system restore.  The only way to get rid of them is to turn it off and erase all previous restore points.

Thought I'd post this as this feature has saved me a lot of grief on several occasions.
