screen size

Does anyone know how to change the size of your screen size so the text will larger.  I saw this a couple weeks ago on how to do it and forget to write it down.  I know it was either alt or control and some other key.

Thanks!!

for changing the size of your text on the screen
you can either:

click Ctrl+ turn the wheel on your mouse

or

click 'View', then 'Text size', then you have 4 options to choose

Largest
Larger
Medium
Smaller
Smallest

It depends on font size, line length, margin size, etc.
There are too many variables.
EXText Word Client - blank screen everytime I give "ok" in the DIS screen
I am using EXText Word Client software with Transnet. I am getting a blank screen everytime I give "ok" in the DIS screen (patient details info screen). I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software an upgraded but still errors out the same way. Are there any EXtexters who could help?

Thanks your suggestion was very valuable. At a specified time (which the technical side say, when the net speed is very good), it is working without a problem at all (whereas this was half working and half not working before even at this time), but other times, still the same problem exists.

Actually the blank screen comes every time I give "ok" in the DIS screen (patient details info screen).
Screen Resolution/Font/Screen Percentage
My eyes are tired all the time. I usually have my monitor set at 800 x 600 pixels and use Bookman at 10 font in Word at 111% in the normal layout. What might be a better viewing screen setting to use?

viewing a WMA video file
Since I am working on Express Scribe, any E-mail I get with a video file, just goes straight to audio ... duh, I know there is an answer, but I am very IT challenged and was wondering if there was an easy fix to this one.  Thanks, guys!
"for your viewing pleasure"

My husband looked into things (I learned last night) and told me that what's there is recordings of actual college classes. No credit and you can't ask questions.

Thanks. I had to change the way I was viewing the site and then tried what you suggested -sm
and it seems to have worked.  Now I just need to see if I can get Express Scribe to work for me.  It has been a while since I have typed this way.  Thanks again for your help.

Problems viewing inside posts.
I've been viewing the Jobseeker's Board for a couple of weeks now but in the last few days, when I open a post, the inside text extends over the right and left sides.  Posts that opened okay last week are now opening this way and it is impossible to see all the text.  Is it just me?  Does anyone know how to fix this?
To the others having problems viewing inside posts sm
I emailed as recommended and this morning the problem appears to be fixed.  See for yourself.  Yayyy!
Right, but I'm not even seeing any fine print available for viewing by the general public. Not a

However, if it has been finalized, you will not be able to view it but only add addendum. Only if report is in draft is it able to be viewed.
So, bottom line is it is a fraudulent web site and viewing it may have exposed us to a virus?

Now how are you going to get that size 12 out of

Trying It On For Size...

I've been transcribing for nearly 10 years, so I'm no longer considered a *newbie,* but there are still a few things I don't know about, so I'm hitting this board to see if anyone can offer up some advice...

Does anyone out there work for more than one company as an independent contractor?

I already hold one IC position and I am considering taking on a couple of more.  I have to commit to a certain amount of lines for each, but no set schedule.  They all are paying the same primo-rate with no incentive scale, so it doesn't pay extra to put all my lines in with one company.

You might ask, *Why don't you just increase how much you are working with your first company?*  Well, my answer is that I don't like having a primary and then having my backup account constantly changing in order to provide me with work.  I am thinking that it would work better to work for a couple of different places, each giving me just one primary account (and yes, there are still companies who do that!), and then just sign off of one and onto another when the first one runs out of work...

In my mind, this works out beautifully, but since I have never done it before, I'm hoping to get some pointers for those of you who have.

font size
When paid by cpl, does it affect your line count if you type in a size 10 or size 12 font?
I had no idea there was such a size either.LOL

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know how far into the alphabet the breast size goes?

I have a 7 y.o. boy who wears that same size.
He has a 16" and it's a bit small for him. I'd get the 20" so your sponsor boy can grow into it. They can always put the seat way down low if he doesn't already know how to ride without training wheels. Better to be able to grow into it than have to replace it 6 months later.
Does that help shrink it's overall size as well?

Font size
I have an account and they did not indicate a font size - I know that it makes a big difference the more that you have bolded in a report - what would be a reasonable font size or the standard font size to use?
Font size
I have read with interest the thread on font size.  Now I know why one company allows you to transcribe in one font and then it gets printed in another - which is much smaller - which does make it harder to get your lines.  I thought that it was me - but could not understand until I saw what was getting printed and counted, as to why it was so difficult to get a good line count when I had always done so in the past.  Is this not in some way misrepresentation?  You see what looks like a nice report and then when it gets printed it is so small that you can hardly read it - this also messes with the end of your lines and sentences - where if you make a hard page break on what is on your computer screen it comes up as something different on the copied version on the other side.  All of the info offered was good and this is a good point to make when looking at work - especially if you are new and do not know anything different.
What size is your monitor?

Just wondering what everyone uses.  I use a 17 inch but would like a 19 or 21.  I like mine big, but my mom who is also an MT says when the monitor is too big it slows down her production because her eyes have to travel further back and forth to read what she is typing.  LOL  Everyone is different.  I've seen these huge monitors at the computer stores lately, widescreen, like 30 inches, and they look pretty cool.  So...what size monitor does everyone use or would like to use?  Thanks!

font size
If you are counting by dividing characters by 65 characters, no matter what font you use it will be the same. However if you count by gross line -- line charge no matter how many words on a line you will lose money.   But if it is by by every 65 characgers (including spaces) you could use an 8, 9 or 12 font and the charge will all be the same.
Hospital bed size HELP!
Is there somewhere to find out hospital sizes. I am applying for a new job and need to know the sizes of the hospital I have typed for. I am not aware of where I can find this information. Is there a site or database somewhere. Thanks!
font size
Every place I've ever worked or worked for has a default font. You can have text on your screen set at newspaper headline size (like my MT friend who has macular degeneration) and it'll usually default to their 11- or 12-pt font. I'm sure every hospital or MTSO's software specs are different, though.
font size
I think you just go under view and change the text size to whatever you want it to be.
what is your font size set at??
The zoom feature will not affect the size of the printing font, but the font size will. Make sure it is at least 12.
It could be the size of your file.

If I understand you correctly, you have one word document that contains 50 (patient) files? That alone could be the problem, although your hard drive may also be getting full and slowing things down. Check the properties of your hard drive; do a disk cleanup if it appears to be full. Another option may be to reduce the size of your document, maybe splitting it by DOS or patient name.

Size of monitor

What size of monitor are you using??? I am seriously considering buying a new one and would appreciate input as to what people have, including brand suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

size does matter!
Is this fact or opinion? INC. is usually a larger business. The reason for that is because INC. means they can be a public company, have shareholders or venture capital, while an LLC is usually a small or one-owner business, an individual who wants to protect their personal assets from business concerns. You may see INC more often simply because of the size, giving them more public exposure, but doesn't mean they are outside of the US.

When I highlight the text it is in the font size I want, but when I insert the autotext it makes the font smaller.
Size 10 obese...no way! I'd rather be
thought of as obese rather than looking older than my age. I would love to be size 10. Well, maybe if I get down to size 10, I'll look younger than my stated age. Thanks for posting! By the way, I have seen myself referred to as moderately obese in my medical records years ago, but that didn't bother me like the age thing. I know when I'm overweight, but I guess a person can't always tell if they look older than the are, unless someone else says so.

How do I change the size of ....sm
the font or whatever so that when I am looking at my report the print is bigger.  It not only changes the print for just the reports but everything else too.  I did this before on a different computer but I can't remember how I did it.  Any ideas?
I use Control N to end a job - Control T is for when viewing an old report
Don't know what you are talking about
Sorry. Got cut off. Nothing I do can increase the font size.

Size of foot rest - sm
I got a large one - 17 x 20 - because I have two foot pedals to use (different platforms) and they both fit on it side by side. I can adjust it to slope up from the floor in front to about 3-4 inches (or more if I want) upwards. The top of the foot rest has a rubberized mat to keep the foot pedals in place, and the base of the foot rest is heavy to it doesn't move. The brand is Fellows, and I paid about $49.00 for it...and I think well worth it so far. If you Google foot rests, and look on Shopzilla, you'll find lots of them - different sizes and prices and styles. Hope this helps.
It's the quality, not the size that counts

Font size! I never knew.
What an eye opener. I did not realize this was happening. Thanks for the info to all who submitted to the font thread.
What size monitor do you find to be the best?
nm
Well, its a nice size big lake, but not too
big. You have your competing sides of the lake. Basically half of it is in NJ, and other half in NY. As far as I know, its rather a depressed area - not much in the way of work up there, so lots of low to low middle income people. But, that said, they are a very warm community - I lived on both sides, Hewitt, which is NJ side, in a tiny log cabin that was like fairy land. It was so cool. Unpaved road and little cabins in the mountain. Very dangerous roads in winter all around the lake, lots of fatal accidents. Sorry! Big attraction up there were a few bars/clubs scattered around border of lake. So lots of late night DUIs and accidents. That's about all that anybody did up there was drink! Literally. And most of us were bartenders, waitresses, etc. However, tourism really bottomed out up there, so again, times are tough. Great buys on houses, though, if you work out of area. Mahwah I believe is within commuting. Don't know much about schools, but would guess they are so/so. I believe West Milford might be the NJ school district. They definitely don't have their own schools, last I looked! New York side very depressed area - Monroe is nice and close by. Again, if you personally have $$, it would be a great place to buy a nice house on the lake. Boating galore, but sort of crowded. Great ice skating in winter. Very much a small town atmosphere - very rustic and tough in winter. I loved it there, but again there was no income other than restaurant industry. Back then I did not transcribe! Good luck to you! From another Lori!
All this talk about size-matters!
I'm an 18-inch gal myself.  I adore my little flat panel...if only for the fact that it doesn't take up hardly any space on my already dinky desk here.  My husband is a freak and has 2 flat panels next to each other and is always doing weird things with them.  They have come down so much in price these past few years it's not even funny.  I highly recommend scoring one!
I've used one that's about the size of your car key fob. Easy
