About five years ago I was contacted by a company who were supposed to be good, sent me vast amounts of stuff, programs, equipment, physician rosters, and on and on.  They paid someone to help me set up to do their work.  I did their work (difficult clinical specialties and some radiology) for about three to four weeks.  Their program was good, but the demographics end had not been set up yet.  No one had entered any data for it, so I had to fill it in (and train it) as I went along.  They were pleased with me, they said.  They called one day half-way through and asked if I would type for a couple of hours while they had transcripitionists on-site "watch" as that was possible (I just had to provide my IP adress and they were able to watch live.  After another week or so went by, there started appearing less and less work in my pool.  What they did was to give "my work" to others who charged less and I was training them and was never informed that was what was going on.  So, basically, for a very reasonable price I set up the demographics for a large clinic, typed all the "normals" for difficult specialties, and then the company "disappeared" after my work finally dwindled to nothing and finally disappeared.  They still owe me money for my last two weeks of work.  They did not answer phone calls, letters, faxes, or anything else I sent.  They were so far away that I had no way to drive over there.  I still have a foot pedal of theirs and some other things, because when I mailed it back to them it was returned in the mail.  In case these are the same people, be glad they chose some other sucker to do it.  I had given notice to a very good job in order to "work" for them.  Maybe that is what they had planned for you and it just so happened that they picked someone else.  Next time, ask for a firm starting date and a contract.  I do.
