You are not alone.  After 4 years of trying to make this work, I've gone back to college.  This field just isn't worth it anymore.  The pay scale and disregard of our value as highly skilled professionals is a joke.  The toll on my back and wrists is not worth it.  The days of overtime do not make up for the times of year when work is low or not available.  For me, being an MT was fine for a few years when the kids were young and I wanted to be at home, but I would **never** urge anyone to go into it for a life-long career.
