dead brain regarding digital!

Trying to switch all my clients to digital, but first I need some help with it!  Using the free ES wav player.  One of the drs are going to email me the files and the other is going to use a FTP site.  I dont know the first thing about transcribing files "digitally"  Any instructions would be really appreciated!

Thanks ya'all!

Is Monday, Feb 12, President Day? Brain dead this morning. nm

Don't know where my brain is today - sm
I am drowning in work, have 200 minutes due by Monday and I am not used to doing more than 60 minutes a day. But I guess 200 rolls of nickels is a bit much, $400, I think a roll is $2.00- but depending on the person they will need at least 50-100 rolls. That is a lot of nickels!
Ugh - I have placenta brain already - I meant for my last baby :)

It is kind of scary. I stopped at 4:30 a.m. today because I figured I'd better sleep some. sm
At least the power of suggestion had me concerned...I seemed more productive though, got almost 2 times the lines in I would have otherwise, because I knew I had to get to sleep earlier. If everyone were like me though those overnight early morning stats would not meet TAT. But then again, an early grave might not be worth worrying about a couple of hours TAT after all...
Sorry meant discrimination and reverse-discrimination. My typing got ahead of my brain! nm
sorry for the typo but my heart was in the right place. :)
Mass affect on brain or mass effect on brain?

Sorry, 'MT way too long,' my post was not meant for you, it was meant for Wow! Sorry!!...nm

HELP with Shorthand. Suddenly today when I tried to start work today.sm

my ShortHand would type only the first letter of an expansion and then take all the letters away!  I checked and the Type It button is grayed out!  I have restarted the computer and looked on the Shorthand Help menu but can find nothing that applies.  Can anyone please help me ASAP?  I am lost without it!  TIA

Perhaps you are right. This one is dated today. The original article was on Yahoo today also with

But this article states it would only affect new customers right now.  So I am upset over nothing.  I went through heck with BellSouth when they charged me a surcharge of an extra 50 a month and then would write a letter saying I had to switch to a long distance service and pay by the minute because of my "excessive" use. They told me the unlimited charge was for an average of an hour a day not somebody who worked out of their home and I needed to switch a business plan at over 200 a month charge.  I switched over to cable because of that and then to read that cable was going to charging on a per use fee and not a flat monthly fee it upset me.  It is the nature of our work, VR, only paying for VBC, having headers and footers taken away, now being charged for being on line, etc.  It just seems that everything is done to keep to insure less money.

YOU ARE DEAD ON ABOUT OSi
The lunatic department head you are talking about is the reason I left that department AND OSi once she finally got her pie in the sky promotion and knocked a bunch of much more qualified people down along the way.

Imagine being the best at your job and being usurped by someone on a power trip whose main goal is to try to convince everyone how great she is because she basically doesn't know what the hell she is doing.

I know how to do my job and don't need some hick micromanaging me and breathing down my neck all the time.

If she were knowledgeable, she would organize her department with enough people to make it function properly, then leave them alone and let them do her job.

She is the biggest joke of a "manager" I have ever seen.

Good riddance, OSi!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He can't be dead......
Maybe Uncle June's gonna get on the phone with 9-1-1 and maybe give him mouth to mouth??? haha. Will be interesting to see how they're going to explain that next episode...he was pretty much gone there! And if it's another panic attack and he passed out and dreamed it AGAIN, not watching it anymore. Love the show, but those dreams, like the one in the beginning where Carmella was chatting with dead *Aide* are getting a little old...don't ya think???
Can't be dead.....
I agree with you about the dream gimmick - worn out.

However, there is a theory out there that this episode is actually the last episode of the series and that the 19 more that are to come - 11 this year and then 8 next year - will show us how all these situations evolved.
Dead End...not well-known, had
never heard of it before, but it is a good ol' suspense, kind of frightening movie with a weird ending.  Would watch it again if they would play it again.
He's not dead, if that's what you mean. ..
n
now they say 130 are dead

and 300 injured due to terrorist attacks.  I hope and pray they catch the ones responsible.  Those poor people.

I am dead serious.
I am sick of being treated like a third class citizen whle so other bozo is making tons of money off my work. Let's unite!!! Why do we need them, we can do this on our own!!??
Dead right! sm
For one of my graduate classes in Competitive Intelligence, I ran an operation against a private security company, starting with nothing but the name of the company.

Before I was through, I had discovered (strictly from public sources) that the CEO of this private security company was also on the board of a Saudi Arabian company, of which other board members were on the "watch" list of Homeland Security.

I knew where this company did its banking and about two significant loans it had defaulted on. I knew that one of the corporate executives, a male, had changed his last name just after arrest reports were recorded in the same county for an individual with the same "old" name (which was quite an unusual name).

I knew this and many, many "inside" details about the company's internal operations.

...starting with nothing but the name of the company.

What's in a resume? Your name, your address, your phone number, where you attended high school/college, former employers and perhaps other information about your hobbies, etc. Give me your resume, and I guarantee you I'll wind up with your SS#.

you know you are in a dead-end job when.....
you cannot get any type of pay increase after 2 years....sigh.....not surprised but it just depresses me.  This is not a good way to start the new year.  I am finding it hard to stay motivated.  Ok, thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
I'm an MT; I know what a dead end job is! LOL. n/m

have ya'll seen this movie sm
called Napolean Dynamite? If you have teens, maybe you have heard of it.  If you wanna rent a movie this weekend that is totally mindless and just plain funny, rent this one! OMG, my 14 YOD has watched it four times since we've had it.  It's just funny!
So are you saying you actually saw the movie?
If you did, then you would know they would never have gotten married if society had accepted their lifestyle and they did not have to fear for their lives.
It was a TV movie, first
After getting work at Universal (legend is he sorta snuck in), Spielberg was given Duel as his first directing job. It was a TV movie (I remember seeing it way back then). It was later released to theatres in 1983, most likely due to Spielberg's success with ET and other films at the time.

It's remarkable how simple a film it was (i.e., low budget). Only about 3 actors, with Weaver in every scene. It reminds me of a Stephen King type suspense, although none of the movies made of King's work has done nearly as well.

Some interesting comments about the film can be found at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067023/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnx0dD0xfGZiPXV8cG49MHxrdz0xfHE9ZHVlbHxmdD0xfG14PTIwfGxtPTUwMHxjbz0xfGh0bWw9MXxubT0x;fc=1;ft=206;fm=1

any movie must see and
I highly recommend The Machinist, it kept me interested as to whats going on until the very end, and I had to watch it again to catch the little hints.  I just rented and saw Red Eye, HORRIBLE...some parts were predictable and others were ridiculous.  Don't tell me other passengers don't notice when someone gets head-butted hard enough to draw blood.  Big disappointment.  Anyone else?
probably his best movie!
It showed the insurance companies for what they are; money-grubbing killers.

I think anyone here who thinks this is a good system should try to put herself (or himself) in place of those denied a claim for a procedure to save a life.

It is callous and disgusting. As I said before, health care should not be a for-profit business.
Drop dead.

that's dead on the money

I have version 3 of Instant Text and used that to create phrase files of 4 words or more and then imported them into the different medical modules that I have. Between that and running the Accuracy Center every couple of months, I was able to get my accuracy to almost 100%, as long as I dictate the way I'm supposed to and the words are in the dictionary.

DH went out shopping later in day and said it was dead.

I keep thinking he's not dead, just (sm)
maybe in a coma for the whole season or something.  Don't know if I can get my "fix" of the Sopranos if he's gone.
Top 10 dead end jobs....

Article in CareerBuilders

This was one of a few clerical positions that were listed as the tope 10 dead end jobs.  I really am thinking of doing something else now.

Word Processors and Data-Entry Keyers
This sector of workers is expected to decline due to the proliferation of personal computers. Employment growth of data entry keyers will still be dampened by productivity gains, as various data-capturing technologies, such as bar code scanners, voice recognition technologies and sophisticated character recognition readers become more prevalent. In addition, employment of these workers will be adversely affected by businesses that are increasingly contracting out their work.

top 10 dead end jobs
Koudos to you!!! any person who is burnedout in any job should persue another avenue!  I think it is great that you have taken that step to better your life and pursue happiness.  It takes great courage to leave a comfortable situation and start a new path.
It's "keel" over dead,,,,,

Except he is dead and can't talk.
x
Nope -- He was dead serious.
I don't think so. He was dead serious saying there were new contacts available approved for 24-7 wear. This was when I first walked in -- did not even begin the exam. He wasn't smiling or saying it in a joking way at all. That alone made me uneasy. He seemed -- not all there if you know what I mean. And the longer I was there the more I felt that way. Also I should mention he tested both eyes together not right and then left and I have never not had my eyes checked individually. I know my right eye is a different prescription than my left. Also, I went to Sears for glasses prior and they always use that machine to measure the distance of pupils to make the glasses -- this wasn't done either. All round it was a horrible experience. There was another woman there complaining of these same things only she paid over $300.00 and they were refusing to give her a refund as well. Why should we be forced to pay for eye wear we cannot see out of? I will never return there again -- still intent to fight for the rest of my money though! Stay away, far, far, away from this place.
scary
It is scary to think how narrowed minded people can be. Plantation mentality is alive and well in the South....So help us all....
Scary
Your last 2 paragraphs made absolute sense. I always thought, even back "in the day," that dictation to transcription was archaic.

However, I fit into the "over-educated but don't know how to get in out of the rain MT" category, so scary thought because if you thought of it, someone else should as well... and I do need to keep doing this at least until one of my kids strikes it rich!

Good post.
Now that is scary!

That is really scary to me No wonder that sm
these gals hire on places, begin to work and then can't get their pay.
That is scary...
...
How scary to have a dog like that...
as your neighbor.  If you have children, PLEASE keep close tabs on them...I just heard on the news a few weeks ago about a pit bull (I think...) snatching a baby out of her mother's arms and malling her head badly.  The baby survived, thankfully, but was very badly hurt. I agree with you, these dogs are inherently vicious, and no, it's not the dog's fault at all...it's the human's fault for training and breeding for fighting...how very sad for the OP..I am sorry...
What's scary is...
they are treating people.  How does the patient understand what he is saying (if they deem to say anything).  I know when I see one of these doctors I have a hard time when I'm not ill.  My husband is hard of hearing but can understand if clearly spoken to and he understands nothing and refused to go back to a GP we had.
I'm sorry, but its really scary to me that anyone
let alone a spouse, could just go back to sleep and post on a MESSAGE BOARD the next day, asking about a SWOLLEN HARD TONGUE!! You have got to be kidding me. And I presume you're an MT as well??? What is WRONG with you?? Goodness, the blunders never cease to amaze me.  GO TO THE HOSPITAL. And don't wait til it happens AGAIN - get him to the hospital NOW to have it checked out, diagnosed, and have yourselves armed with epi-pens, etc. A BENADRYL??? That's just insane.
Very scary
Makes me paranoid about every "normal" person I meet. I hate being that way, but when it comes to my kids I am happy to be labeled *over protective*
this is really scary -

Okay, is there any chance that anything in our medical records is going to be correct, either done overseas, dictated by someone who has little grip of the language, perhaps transcribed by someone with even less of a grip, maybe corrected, but in the money crunching, I doubt that, probably never read by the physician and now you are telling me that the doc himself is typing this info directly.  I frankly cannot imagine this.  I cannot imagine they would want to type it.  They can't keep on track half the time just reading.

That's scary sm

I'm sure it happens - as Patti says - but personally I would have a very hard time putting something like that on a report I typed. It is the doctor's responsibility to review the report. If he/she chooses not to do that, that is also his/her responsibility. But if I type it on the report, that means I am aware that the doctor is not reviewing it, and I would be concerned that I could be drawn into a lawsuit if there was ever a problem with a report.

It's quite possible that would never happen, but it's also possible that Patti has just been lucky...............

Something Scary!
Let me tell you something very scary that happened to me! I posted a comment in support of one of the companies on the Jobs Board and the CEO wrote me back an e-mail to my personal e-mail address thanking me for my comments. I was shocked as heck! I thought our identities were protected here. Guess again. They tracked me down to my personal e-mail address. Be very, very cautious of anything yo post here.
Now that's scary
I just envision a scenario where a doctor dictates a dose wrong, we type it wrong, QA doesn't change it for this reason, newbie nurse reads it and gives it to the patient. Dennis Quaid's kids got the wrong dose. Kid here in Central Florida recently got wrong dose because pharmacist typed it wrong. But as MTs we aren't liable? Very scary.
SCARY
Wow that med thing is scary to hear about. I thought it was bad enough when my FORMER PCP tried to tell me hypertriglyceridemia was from eating too much animal protein. That was so dumb it was funny but med errors aren't.

A Walgreen's here is in trouble because they wrote a script for a 3-month-old, premature twin for cough medicine and typed 1/4 teaspoonful instead of 1/4 mL. Granted not a doctor but it was in the news recently and the kid could have died if the pharmacy didn't catch it and call the parents prior to the second dose being given. What is it medical mistakes are the 4th leading cause of death in America?
War of the worlds movie.
Has anyone seen the new War of the Worlds movie and did the big, mechanical monster remind you of a giant colonoscopy at times?  Just wondered if anyone else saw it and thought the same thing. ');>
This movie was so bad that we walked out of it!!
