Does anyone know why the wave volume control on my master volume controls... SM

on my PC would turn itself all the way down?  It's driving me nuts!  It's like it resets itself to the low possible setting and when I go to work, I'm turning my speakers up full blast trying to hear and when I check my volume controls on my PC, the wave setting is turned all the way down.  I turn it back and everything is loud and clear and I have to turn my speakers back down and then I'll do something the internet and BOOM it resets itself!

I feel bad because I've been accusing my kids of messing with the controls and they have been swearing they didn't do it and I haven't exactly believed them, but it has happened twice to me this evening while I'm working and I know no one else has touched my PC but me.

Microsoft ergo... Love it
it slowed me down for maybe 3 to 4 days, but now I just love it.My hands never ache anymore... However, I have real trouble using a regular keyboard now on my spare computer, just doesn't feel right now, but since I only ever really just surf the net with that one it doesn't matter.  Really has helped my hands and wrists.
kinesis vs microsoft ergo keyboards

is the touch really noticeably softer?  Can you just plug it in and go, without any retraining self to speak of?

thanks.

I just bought a Microsoft Natural Ergo 4000 from Officemax
for about $60 (not exactly cheap).

I can't attest to how long this one is going to last, but I do really like it. However, when I bought it, I was given an option of buying a 2-year extended warranty for like an additional $12. They said they would replace the keyboard for any reason in that time period. I declined, but maybe not a bad investment for people like us who can go through keyboards.
The Microsoft 4000.....ahhhh....awesome, quiet, soft touch, ergo..nm

Microsoft 4000 split keyboard.

Does anyone use this keyboard?  I just got one thinking it would help my hands from hurting, but I am having a bit of a hard time adjusting to the keyboard.  Did anyone else have this problem?  If so, did you catch on, or did you have to return it?  I went from the plain keyboard to this, but It has  slowed me down tremendously.  I wonder if I should get an ergonomic keyboard without the split?  Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Split? I bought old IBM off ebay but not split.

Split keyboard mounted on chair arms versus split keyboard on desk

For longtime comfort which is best - split keyboard mounted on chair arms or split keyboard to be used on the desk?

Also, why the preference over split keyboards that come totally apart versus split keyboards that are permanently connected at the top?

I want to revamp my office and there are so many different options.

Unfortunately, we can't please everyone although we try. We run Active X controls
and a few cannot see the left column and we have offered a number of ways to get the left menu to appear. Beyond that, we are unable to help. Administrator
I use the monitor controls. You can
gray-down the tone of the monitor brightness quite a bit, at least on the monitors I've had.
I think she controls herself well what with the idiots she has to deal with.

zoom up/down
If you work in Word, you can make a shortcut.

I use zup (shortcut)

Command is
{Alt + V} ze 125 {enter}

The 125 can changed in your shortcut to whatever type is good for you.

You can reverse zup to zud or zoom down the same way, and changing the 125 to whatever lower font is good.
SM about zoom
I have a 19-inch screen. I work in Dictaphone EXText. My word document comes up in 100% view. It appears so tiny on my big screen. I make it zoom to 250%. The document then fits my screen perfectly; whereas when it was in 100% view mode, it only covered about 50% of my screen. I am trying to be without a mouse when working (but of course I use a mouse to surf the web), but with work, I am trying to just use all keyboard functions which would be more efficient with VR. The only way to make my view bigger before was by using my stupid mouse and to click on a drop-down menu....now the zoom feature is on my keyboard. Make sense? Love it.
Express Scribe has hand controls.
I am waiting to get my foot pedal still so I have been using the hand controls or hot keys. They seem pretty easy and you can adjust them to the keys you want them to be. Real simple. Even I figured it out and that is a lot. LOL. Hope this helps. It is always nice to see someone with a handicap that is still willing to work instead of living off the rest of us. God Bless Her.
Would increasing Zoom help for now?

in Word? nm

Need Express Scribe help with foot pedal controls

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong.  I have express scribe and a USB infinity foot pedal.  The foot pedal controls on express scribe do not let you set the foot pedal to back up a few seconds.  When you lift your foot off the pedal, that is exactly where it starts again when you push back down on it.  I want it to back up a few seconds so I can listen to something again, but I cannot see anywhere that it lets you adjust it to that.  I don't want to have to rewind it all the time.  Please help thank you

It's Express Scribe. Gotta play with the playback controls

Is there a way to create a macro for adjusting zoom?
In other words, if I want to adjust my zoom from 100% to 125% and then back to 100% before uploading without having to click view, zoom, etc, is there a way to create a shortcut to switch between zoom views? I just can't see well at 100%. I need glasses, obviously, but in the meantime I want to be able to see better without the strain to my eyes. Its just such a hassle to change zoom back and forth for every document, but we cannot upload them with the zoom at anything more or less than 100%.
Set up your template to open in the zoom level you want. sm
Then you can record a macro and assign a hot key to change it back when you're finished with the report.
Definitely a common font size. Ask if increasing the zoom on your end

percentage to whatever you want. Then you have to do something in the document area -- such as pressing the spacebar and backspace -- so Word thinks you actually made a change to the template and answer yes to the message when you close it out. Every new document will open with your new zoom level.
A WAV pedal controls playback of voice files. You need a software program through which to play the

The term "WAV pedal" has become a generic term. The software that you use will determine the file type(s) that you are able to play on your computer. You use either a pedal or hot keys (Fkeys) to control that playback. As stated below, Express Scribe is one such software program and it is free. It can be found by clicking on the link below.

Does anyone know where to get a good deal on a Kodak digital with zoom and who has the best prices
on them. I just want a simple to use Kodak easyshare that is reasonably priced with zoom on it.
Increasing the zoom view does not increase the font size.

Ergo keyboard

I love my Belkin, mostly because it's one of the only keyboards with a "right 6" - for those of us who use our right index finger to touch the "6" key.  After typing for 30 years, I can't switch now!

Ergo mouse. sm
Does anyone know of a mouse that will reduce the squeeze-type action required and also the scrolling action?  If so, I need to get it ASAP.  Thanks.

Is Goldtouch the name of company or the product...where can I get one online? thanks...sfm
Ergo keyboards sm
I know this has been discussed before, but I need opinions on the ergo keyboards, best, cost, why you like them. I'm considering going with the Kinesis but would like input on the other kinds out there as well.  How is the Microsoft one?  It's reasonably priced but when I looked at it at Staples, it didn't seem much different than the regular Dell I have now.
I just got my first ergo keyboard - sm
the Logitech Wave and I'm really enjoying it. Got an email from buy.com and with a $20 rebate, I think it came to $49.00 - good deal. I didn't want to dramatic of a split - I was afraid that would be hard to get used to.
Are you talking about the MS Ergo or...
the ones that you separate in 2 pieces? I bought the ergo keyboard 4000 and I thought it was good but the keys were a little hard to push down. They are lower set than standard keyboard but I think you have to push harder? My wrists and elbows still hurt. I am considering a split keyboard (splits in half and you type in a handshake position). Does anyone have one of these? Do they work for aching wrists/arms?

never had wrist pain again since the day I bought my first one.  Got a zoom key, don't know what it's for.
If you're looking for a new ergo keyboard

I found a great one!  My needs were pretty basic:  I wanted one with an ergo design, detachable wrist rest, clicky keys, the #6 on the left, adjustable height, and a good price!

I found these two sites.  The first describes the keyboard better, but the second sells it much cheaper:

I ordered it Friday, it came on Wednesday, I plugged it in, and I'm totally, completely loving this thing!

Questions regarding ergo keyboards. (SM)

I saw the post below and looked at the Kinesis Classic keyboards.  Wow, they are very different looking.  I wonder how long it takes to get used to working with one of these...

What ergo keyboard do you like?

How long did it take to get used to it?

Any advantages over other keyboards?

How long until my wrists and hands stop hurting?

I'm seriously debating making this investment, but I have on idea where to start.  Thanks so much for taking the time to help.

Are there ergo heated keyboards? nt
nt
Ergo Heated Keyboards
I'm afraid I haven't seen any ergonomic heated keyboards. In fact, I think there is only one heated style that's really out so far. I think there will be more soon though. Between cold offices, Raynaud's and more people using keyboards, something better should be along soon. In the meantime, the heated wrist rest http://www.raynauds.org/offers/ThermalRest.cfm looks like a possible alternative.
KINESIS ERGO KEYBOARD

Kinesis Ergonomic Keyboard.  Newest technology, a MTs dream.  Feels like a cadillac when compared with other keyboards.  Purchased 10/2006, excellent condition.  Paid $350, will sell for $290--like new.  Adaptation exercise book.  Retired as MT.   Follow this link to review benefits:

I get my ergo keyboards off Ebay.

Anyone here have the Belkin ergo keyboardSM

I just bought one on Amazon.com (it should be here on Friday).  Just wondering what you all think of it?  I really liked my MS ergo elite keyboard, so I wonder if I'll be disappointed by trying to save a few bucks.

Thanks for your feedback! :)

Chickadee

I want an ergo keyboard but I cannot seem to get used to the smaller (sm)

shift key on the righthand side of the keyboard.  I keep hitting the keys beside or below it.  Do you eventually get used to it?  Right now I am looking at the Goldtouch and the Kinesis Maxium.   Would appreciate anyone's input.

Does anyone use an Ergo Magic keyboard?
You can see it here:

Looks interesting....

My hands/wrists can't take it anymore...I have to do something.  I wake up with tingling and numbness in my fingers every morning.  I know I'm headed towards carpal tunnel if I don't have it already.

If someone has used this or anything similar and could give me some advice, it would be much appreciated!    Thanks so much!

I bought an ergo Kinesis
I spent an arm and a leg on a Kinesis Keyboard.  It helped for awhile, but not I've got burning pain.
I have one more question regarding this ergo keyboard
When I zoom in on my word document, it is interfering with my ESP. It does zoom the document but it also brings up my ESP screen? Any suggestions?

It helps to have speakers where you can plug the headphones in instead of putting them into the computer modem.
low volume
I have a sound booster called "Boosteroo" that I bought to help with my laptop not having enough volume.  I just plug my headphones into it and plug it into the computer and it helps a lot.
