pathology.  Yes, for the most part it is repetitive, mostly describing bits of tissue and measurements (lots of tiny tan fragments) from biopsies, but sometimes there will be a whole body part like a breast or a leg, liver, kidney or colon. Then the next step is the microscopic diagnosis. There are also histology and cytology reports as well, usually also short.   From what I recall neither of these "reports" was more than a few sentences to a paragraph long.  The exception was autopsy reports which could be very lengthy.  


This was before outsourcing, and I worked in a very large New York City hospital.  The labs and transcription were all done on the same floor.  The docs would let us look at stuff and invited us to watch when there was something interesting to see such as gangrenous legs, large breast tumors or Crohn's disease colons.  Also the autopsy room was just across the hall and I found  this was very interesting.  Doing the stuff at home might not be as much fun though.
