My keyboard problem (is it a full moon?) sm

I can't get one to last more than a New York minute!

I bought TWO HP keyboards the Saturday before Christmas. As of yesterday, I have already killed one! It was squeaking and didn't type out things I know perfectly well I had typed. I would have had over 2000 lines if I had not had to back up every word to fix it.

I don't like Microsoft keyboards, the punch is too hard. This HP, the punch is very light and I like it, but man, they don't last. I am hard on keyboards, it is true and they last about 2 or 3 months if I am lucky. I hate the ones that are too clicky and noisy, if you know what I mean.

What are you all using? I have to do something and my budget does not run to a $100 keyboard right now. Help me please.

last night was a new moon, not a full moon - sm
my kids were wound up too though.
MAN you can tell it's a full moon!

Is it full moon out tonight?
smiley
It's a full moon? Bring on Van Morrison!!!!

I hear ya...must be a full moon or the infamous
"I've eaten the microphone and I can't dictate" monster has reared its ugly head!!!

Hugs, girl!
I use a laptop with a full-size keyboard (no separate keyboard)
I'm using a lap desk but previously was using a pillow with a book on it under the laptop. No additional keyboard though, I bought one with a full-sized board with regular size keys (an HP) which I LOVE and it took no time at all to get used to it. I also love that when the weather improves, I can take my computer outside and get some fresh air! What a great job... :)
I do, but attach a full size keyboard
No message.
No. You have to attach a full size keyboard

Keyboard shortcut for spellcheck is F7 for full doc, Alt + F7 for individual words.
Check out the link below for a list of Word's shortcuts. You're assigning shortcuts that are already in there. :)
Thank you Moon!
Your post made me happy! Finally, someone who "gets it." Maybe you could email me and tell me who you work for? I bet MT's would LOVE to work for someone like you.
Moon
QA doesn't put their signature or # on the document anywhere, do they?
I know the MTs goes on there, so how would they even track a certain report to the QA person that did it?
Also, what about the reports that don't go through QA and go directly to the facility?
Thanks again Moon!
You are 100% correct! I AM just trying to get it right and do a good job! I do not believe that we all need to just, "suck it up" etc., that is the problem with this whole industry! No one wants to stick up for themselves or the industry.  They would rather put up with it, just for sheer peanuts.  I don't believe it is right.  If there were more people like us, this industry would be a whole lot better off.  Some people just don't care about crap work and just want to collect a paycheck. I honestly care about the work that I put out.
Moon
But what about the ones you don't proof?
Exactly right moon...

Full Core means full CPR code.

I think you are preaching to the moon.
This subject is just as bad as politics and religion. Good for you, you don't eat meat. As for me, I think nothing tastes better than a nice big juicy steak! Yum, yum!
If they can send a man to the moon...
Why can't they invent something to stop cherry picking once and for all??? ARGH. I'm having an annoying day myself - must be Hurricane Katrina....
Moon void this morning
Mercury is in its shadow period right now and the moon just went direct at 9:30 Eastern time....not full until next week. (see www.astroprofile.com) We're just getting started. To quote Bette Davis, "Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride."

Take lots of deep breaths and try and stay as positive as you can.....hang in there!

YOU are right! These companies promise the moon so they (sm)

can get the accounts and the MTs are the ones that get the bad deal.  To be honest, I too, am not good with heavy ESLs but I sure try.  I am also slower than most - but I sure try.  There are some ESLs that really try hard and I appreciate their efforts.  Then there are ESLs that are so fast and so sloppy I haven't a clue what they are saying.  There are also horrible American dictators too.  As the above poster said - the lack of decent courtesy is gone.  Their excuse - I'm in a hurry, blah, blah, blah.  Well sometimes I'm in a hurry so maybe I should stop capitalizing words, quit looking up strange words, forget punctuation.  Really!  Have dictators forgotten that there is a real human being transcribing his mess?

Oops, missed the part about expecting it to be as big as the moon!

Yes, and what about Moon Zappa and Dweezil? What in the world were they thinking?
Horrendous.

I use a MSFT Natural keyboard at home and the laptop keyboard on the road. nm

favorite keyboard over the holidays is called "no keyboard"

If you use a standard keyboard you can buy an old IBM model M keyboard on ebay or clickykeyboards.co

That key printing never wear down because the letters are part of the key itself.  They just don't make them that way anymore because it is too expensive to make.  Some of the mechanical keyboards like Cherry have what they double shot key imprinting and the letters are part of the key itself and don't wear off. That IBM keyboard is very noisy from the type of keyswitch it has so you may not like that.  Logitech and Belkin make some membrane switch keyboards that are supposed to have longer lasting key imprints.  I have a logitech that has the longer lasting key imprints and it is pretty good.  You have to look on the specs to find out if has the longer lasting key printing.

I have experimented so much with keyboards and have done a lot of research.  Way too much info.

Keyboard and mouse. Is there such a thing as a keyboard that has a mouse on the actual keyboard?

Has anyone used the Smartboard keyboard? Everyone tell what keyboard they have and rate it nm

Kinesis Keyboard and keyboard tray

Okay, any lefties use this keyboard? How long did it take to get used to? I use my left thumb for the space bar and I notice on a diagram of the keys that I would always be hitting the backspace key.

I'm really interested in getting a better keyboard. I destroyed my left hand and wrist the other week when I fell because I'm becoming a real klutz.

I bought the Soft Flex gloves, but they only help a little bit. My production is down because of it and it's driving me crazy. I can only type an hour without stopping and then have to rest the hand for some time.

I did buy a Microsoft 2000 keyboard but have yet to recieve it. Is this a good one?

Do you use a keyboard tray with it or just set it on the desk? Do you think a kayboard tray would be the least expensive item right now that would help with a straight keyboard?

Any info you can provide to help me in making any decision would be greatfully appreciated.

'Scuse me for being old school, but I've only ever used a straight keyboard.

Does anyone know of a keyboard that has the backspace key in the center of the keyboard? NM

Split keyboard mounted on chair arms versus split keyboard on desk

For longtime comfort which is best - split keyboard mounted on chair arms or split keyboard to be used on the desk?

Also, why the preference over split keyboards that come totally apart versus split keyboards that are permanently connected at the top?

I want to revamp my office and there are so many different options.

I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.
Gold touch makes a keyboard without number pad. Also the evoluent keyboard has the number pad on th
It is a very small keyboard and has laptop keys which are very quiet and light to the touch.  Almost no noise.
HA! You are full of it, LOL. (nm)

better to be *full of ourselves* than....nm

Boy you are FULL of it
How the heck did you jump to the assumption that I probably make less than you? Why - because your brother and father are engineers?? I never said I needed another job, I said I wanted one to fill my time and make some extra money. Unless your last name is Gates or Buffet, who wouldn't want to use their natural skills to make extra cash on the side? Grow up.

And if your job is so difficult, how is it you have all this extra time to sit on this forum bashing folks? I never claimed my job was too demanding, but it did take quite a bit more education - initially and always ongoing to keep up with the latest technology - than yours did. I didn't come on this board to start a "My job is harder/better than yours", but my goodness you are the most assumptive and pious person I have ever had the displeasure of being introduced to. And that says a lot considering I work with all men in a computer engineering industry! Maybe you would find your job more rewarding if you spent more time doing it!
Oh but it was nowhere near full.

This is the 2nd time this has happened.  Believe me, in the olden days when autotext was all there was I had a WAY bigger file, now it's gone.  Not autocorrect, mind you, I use the ESP for that, but the autotext.  It just makes life so much easier.

Are you full-time?
I was just wondering how they expect people to get a quota with no work.

Thanks, we already have a used car without full coverage.

The payment's not that big on it, except when there's a mixup at the bank and they deduct one check twice with the same amount and same check number.  It just feels like the money mojo magnet is gone from my life this week!  LOL  Everything seems to go wrong all at once.

Full screen
No, it's not in full screen mode. You're right, though, I was hitting Ctl not Alt for a while. Have tried Alt V and nothing happens.

I did find something in MS Help online, but it requires that I start the machine in Safe Mode. The PC locks up now when I get to the dos program where I would select Safe Mode.

Thanks for all the help. So far I've tried all the suggestions and nothing has worked yet.

I'm about ready to light a match to this machine, I tell ya!!

he's so full of psychobabble....sm
In my mind, I have always questioned Phil's degrees, where he got them, if they are legitimate, and all that jazz....he doesn't sound like a true psychologist and I cannot stand the way he speaks to people, except his wife, who he wouldn't dare speak to the way he speaks to others.  I think he is a shyster of a *psychologist* IF he is truly a psychologist!!.....
That's for a cut & full highlights though...
I don't know what she would charge for just a hair cut.
Judy CAN be and should be full of herself

Are you full-time?
How  many lines do you do a day?  I personally think this is very low even for a newbie, but I'm wondering if your accounts are REALLY easy and you have a lot of "normals" (macros) where you can get great line counts in a short period of time.  Just my opinion and I'm no expert but I'd say they ARE taking advantage . . . .
Also add someone else is doing full QA on your work.
