Myron Cope
The Steelers played Monday Night Football game against the Ravens on Halloween and honored Myron Cope at halftime. That was my first Steeler game at Heinz Field, and it was great to see Mr. Cope. I read that everyone was hoping he would make a return for the Super Bowl, but he's recently had pneumonia and isn't going to be able to be there.

I LOVED listening to the Here We Go pep song. I spent all day Saturday before the Lions game (last home game of the season) in the Strip District, and one of the vendors had that playing full blast. Really put me in the mood to see "my" Steelers. I've always been proud to be a Steelers fan, but this year all my emotions are doubled! Go Steelers.
A terrible, terrible gamble

Medical bills are debt.  Debt is big business.   Do not expect to find any compassion for your problems when you show up without insurance.  You'll be lucky just to get care when they flag your chart "No Insurance" or "Self Pay."

If you are uninsured and do not qualify for state or federal assistance because earnings are too high, you are gambling on everything you own or will own in the future, including future earnings.

If you require elective medical care and have time to work out a cash payment deal in writing with the provider, you may be protected. You will require a signed agreement by every provider - hospital, radiology, lab, interpreting physicians, etc.  If you fail to meet the provisions of the agreements you sign, the following will apply to this debt as well.

If you receive medical care without a prior agreement on payment, you will be responsible for the debt.  After the fact, the providers have no legal reason to allow you to set up a payment plan.    If you send a monthly payment anyway without a prior agreement, the only thing you can hope for is when they take you to court a sympathetic judge or arbitrator takes this into account.  A voluntary payment sent by you won't stop any legal action and, in fact, may hurt you in the future trying to resolve the debt.

Every state has a set amount of time before a creditor can sue you (depending on the type of debt).  For most states, medical debt is 2 years.  So, from the date of service you have 2 years of collection agencies to deal with and then they simply take you to court at which point they will take everything you own and sell it at auction, enforce liens against your current and future earnings, and take every potential bit of future income or asset you may have. There has been some legal challenge to this in some states - check with your state attorney general's office to see if any headway has been made in protecting patients with medical debt.

If you think you'll just go bankrupt, think again.  Medical debt is rarely discharged now since the rules have changed, especially if you at some point indicated you would be willing to do a payment plan with the providers - this is used against you.

If you think you can maintain your health and nothing will happen, you are dreaming.  Make sure off the top that you no longer have a GB, appendix or uterus.  You'll just have to ride out all the little things - UTI, flu, sinusitis, and forget about routine maintenance care.  The stress alone of knowing you must not become ill or injured is enough to make you sick.

Anyone who tells you not to worry about medical debt while uninsured or underinsured is either ignorant of the facts, living in another dimension, or just plain lying.

Don't throw in the towel yet.
I know things may not seem positive right now but look at counseling as a possible way of turning this all around.  Try to get your husband interested in a hobby or something.  It sounds as though he has no zest for life anymore.  If he is not happy with himself it can cause problems in your relationship.
my only thought, could "tail" be towel?
.
When is it time to throw in the towel entirely?

It doesn't work for me to be a fulltime employee for a big national.  However, it doesn't work to be an IC for a small MTSO either.  The obvious middle of the road would be SE for a medium sized company.  However, it seems like that just takes the bad from employee and combines it with the bad from IC.  I wonder if I'll ever find a good place to work.  I should just bag MT entirely.  I know I'm not the best MT or employee.  I'm not perfect.  There are a lot better MTs out there.  I'm not all that bad either.  Maybe I could make a living posting stupid auctions on ebay.

Have you tried just keeping a rolled towel behind your back?
nm
DD is a 1st grade teacher, and is ready to throw in the towel
already - not because of the kids, but because of the interferring parents (mothers) who cannot bear to let "little Suzie" out of the nest, cuz, you know, she is my baby, so I want to be with her as much as I can.  She thinks these mothers cause more harm psychologically for the kids that anyone realizes.  They lose coping skills, other kids make fun of them for being a big baby, and they lose all identity.  Can't these mothers get a life away from the kid's school?   She has 3 or 4 that think they know everything and are constantly interrupting her to "correct" her way of teaching.  She is not a new teacher, has been teaching for over 10 years now and is rated one of the top teachers in this area.
a year. After I clean it good I turn it upside down on a towel for a day and then I position it
the heat/air conditioning register so it gets good and dry for about 2 days.  If you don't let it dry good it won't work very well.    I've been washing mine about 2 years.
E-Bay rocks...
for physicians.
Tommy Lee Rocks
Yes he made the band and did not get kicked out, I think there will be other shows, and yes this is a promotion for his new album.
dumb as a box of rocks (don't ask me!)

Hillary Rocks!
Right on!
Chris rocks
I can't believe Bucky wasn't gone sooner. Lisa was definitely a better singer than he was, he was always off and he did that rapid blinking...I don't think he was talented at all.
Softflex Rocks!

Have worn them for many years and probably would not be transcribing today if not for them!   They last a very long time, are very comfortable and inexpensive (less than $30.00).  I never work at the computer without putting them on.

I highly recommend them !!   Good luck to you.

The above post ROCKS!

re: Dancing Shoes and MQ Rocks
Yes there are MT's out there who only hae one account and never run out of work--none of these MT's work for the Amherst office, if they do, please feel free to prove me wrong. If there is an MT that works for the Amherst office and only has ONE account and they can make their lines and never run out of one--please let us know. Then we would know that their was hope for us. I agree with Dancing Shoes in the CA office, when our office closed 4 or 5 of our MT's were transferred to the CA MQ office, some went to the AZ MQ office, which has now closed, and those girls were transferred to the Dallas office, and some were transferred to the Ohio office, whcih according to one of the postings is being closed at the end of the year--all these MT's have plenty of work and only have one or two accounts and can make their production. My point is, if other offices can be run this way, why can't the Foxboro and Amherst offices be run the same way. Why do we need to be in 5 or 6 accounts, or as the MT that posted earlier today, she was in 8 accounts. Again, why can't all the offices be run the same. If there is not enough work to go around stop hiring more people--the accounts certainly can not be out of TAT when we are all out of work
Google Suggest Rocks!

I'll take a margarita on the rocks
with an extra shot of tequila and lime on the side...
MQ ROCKS??? Because a poster SAYS she was hired on for increase?
What about those of us who have been with MQ for YEARS and have seen revolving doors of bonused crooked CEOs come and go and have not been given an increase in pay for FIVE years?   MQ ROCKS or MQ is on the ROCKS?    If this is what it takes to please you, an anonymous poster and empty promises from the lastest CEO what lowered expectations from a company you must have.  As for me, I expect more and will MQ Rock when it affects the MAJORITY of the hardworking MQMTs.
Netflix rocks, goodbye cable
I just signed on with them so figure there is no need for cable.  Rather than zoning out on whatever garbage they throw at me, I can pick and choose what I want, set aside time for it but not get lost in t.v. so I can get things done and maybe do more productive or creative things with my time. I feel like such a zombie sometimes with the buzz of all these reality shows, its making me crazy, i'm addicted!
I miss MT50 too. She rocks with her vast pool of knowledge.
MT50, please, please, please...come back. You are missed.
Yeah, he rocks alright..... the cradle! He is the epitomy of a dirty old man. Blech!

I don't believe in "the one"
Some people are more complacent than others and can have a successful relationship with just about anyone.

Others are harder to please or pickier, and there are people that those folks who fall into this category can have a successful relationship with, and others with whom they cannot.

The key is to find out which TYPE of person is best matched to your personality, your goals, your life-style and find someone like that.

There is no ONE person for each of us, but some personality types that mesh better than others.
"The right way"
I've been in that situation myself. What I have done is, if the dictation is absolutely absurd and I was expected to transcribe it as such, then at the bottom of the report, in very small font, I typed in : transcribed verbatim.
"The Letter"
I got my "letter" from MQ today, and immediately called my supervisor to tell him that once that goes into effect I will no longer to ASR..........  hopefully everyone will do this (or at least the majority) and MQ will hear us ??
"the cone"
When my little boy (dog) was neutered, I thought for sure the vet would make us use "the cone." However, he said to just get an all white cotton t-shirt and you can slip it over the dog's head and the dog's legs fit perfectly in the arm holes. The cotton t-shirts are nice and soft and come down long enough to cover that private area!
If you put "the patient" you won't need to worry about it. sm
In fact, most accounts want "the patient" due to confidentiality reasons.
she thinks she is "the mama"
riiiiiggghhht.
"The Language of Medicine" sm
is a very good book and very thorough. I would recommend it highly.
Married? When did you know that your mate was "the" one for you? sm

I just got engaged and knew the minute I met him that he was the one for me.  He felt it too - we just waited until we dated a while before making it official.

How about you?

Yes, it begins with a "T" but don't know what you mean by "the line" (see msg)
Yes, that is how I quit, just couldn't take the crap software for one more minute.   I had heard VR was coming, and there was no way, Jose, I was planning on editing any Indians.  My friends who are still there, some are editing, and are making less than half of what they made transcribing.  Boy am I glad I got out of there.  Now work for a company with a great platform, and they don't offshore.

Go git 'em!
You never saw "The Sound of Music"?
According to the song, Maria was a flibbertigibbet.
Could you not put like "the patient" in most places rather than he/she? nm

That is terrible! sm

If I were the parents, I would most likely be blaming myself; not my friends that I left my 2 year old with and not the person who hit the child on the highway!  It would have been my responsbility to either have my 2 year old with me or at least make sure the people I left him with were responsible.  As for the driver of that car, what were the driving conditions; apparently it was at night; was it raining; was it foggy; did they even see that little, tiny child; was the child standing or crawling or just lying on the road????????  It sounds horrible but maybe the driver just felt a bump!  Maybe the driver didn't even realize he had hit a child!  Maybe the driver just thought he ran over a board in the road.  I'm one of the few, I guess, who believes the safety of your child lies only within your power.  According to some, accidents do happen, but I don't believe in accidents!  Accidents, according to the dictionary, are considered to be unforseen incidents.....we as parents, however, must use common sense to try to abate these "unforseen incidents".

Again, I do have greath empathy for the parents, their friends and for the driver of that car.  They certainly did not preplan this but maybe a little bit of preplanning would have prevented it.  I am sure that little 2 year old will be another beautiful angel in Heaven and that eventually his parents will know he is happy and in a good place.

That was terrible
Isn't is nice to know though, that later that night after the ER visit, the Cialis is what did us both in. You are probably still seeing stars - perhaps that is how I confused the daytime with the nighttime - it was because you kept saying something about seeing stars.
Wow, that's terrible...
The test measures personality, not character.  It's a shame that they used the test so inappropriately.  If it makes you feel any better, Oprah is an INFJ.
That's terrible!!
biggest losers but not in a good way.
This is terrible....It was
70 degrees here today....just beautiful outside, and tonight the low is going to be around 30 degrees.  They are calling for sleet and snow this weekend.  Everyone is going to end up sick after two days of spring-like weather and then back to winter again.
Terrible

I wonder if the accounts are seeing a reduction in the price that they are being charged -- that is what I want to know.   Went through this when NFTA came into effect with my husband and truck drivers.  Also the car industry has gone through this with all the jobs going overseas.   Pretty soon the doctors won't have any patients because no one will have insurance or jobs or be able to pay so they will be out of a job.   I hope it eventually all backfires on them but I doubt it.  I have talked to my local doctors, senators, anyone that will listen about this but no one seems to be worried.  Tax bases will go to pot with everyone out of work, no one to pay the government.    All we can do is to keep voicing our opinions.

That is terrible
Yes, another sad story....it's sad when they are people we don't know.....
That is terrible...sm
Yes finish that 2 weeks so that have no reason not to pay. I too think they are preying on new grads trying to get work done for nothing. What is the name of the company?
No, she does not.She will be asking us "the govt" to supply her necessities
and we will do it.  You and I, who carry Wal-Mart purses (speaking for myself, of course).  Makes me mad too.  I also noticed the Budweiser can.  Jaundiced eye?  I think not.
I agree with "the word" but it can sure help you transcribe everything
:i
They even say they work for "the company that cannot be named"
Most of the replies are from MQers.

You're caught! LOL

Dum-dum-dum-dummmmmbbbbbbbb!!

Cool avatar, though.
"The big kids" don't like MPI, but I do. It helped me immeasurably when SM

I was first working. I have since bought them as gifts to starting-up MTs. I like the book. I have not seen Stedman's, but I don't generally trust Stedman's at all for anything. I use the books, I have a bunch of them, but I don't like them much. They're just all we have and it's better than nothing.

I think it speaks volumes that they have a "correction card" included with each book.

I've been nicknamed "The Whisperer"

She knows that I an understand people with accents in general, especially ESL as an MT.  So she had me "interpret" for her yesterday.  She tried to cancel a service and the co wanted to assess a fee.  A rep called to let her know that they were waiving the fee, and he left a voice-mail (thick Middle Eastern accent).  She calls to tell me me she only understands that he says [the name of the co] and "call customer service."

So she does a 3-way call for me to listen to the saved voice-mail (Message Center).  I listened, and she said wait and was getting ready to play it again.  I said, "Mom...um...I understand," and proceeded to tell her everything that he said.  Her words, "You understand that?!?"  Yup!  She laughs hard and says, "Hey, I'm going to put you on the Oprah Winfrey show as 'The Whisperer!'"  I think all my neighbors heard me laugh.
