Go to a reputable dealer, pick out a car, have it tested at AAA for less than $100 and follow their recommendations. Another place to get good used cars is Enterprise Leasing. They are in every state and their cars are taken care of very well. These are cars coming off lease. There is a glut of used cars, so you should have no problems. I bought a 1993 Toyota Camry V6XLE from my favorite dealer who services all my Toyotas for under $6000 three years ago and the car is even better than most of the NEW cars my friends are buying.
