Need bridge policy ASAP. Where can I get it? Have SEVERAL pre-existing conditions and meds

Posted By: paintyper on 2007-08-15
In Reply to: Yes, it does constitute "creditable coverage." The only policy I found that was not considere - Insurance know-it-all

Just one medication at full cost is half of the COBRA payment plus I have steroid and Botox injections scheduled. Need insurance. Can anybody tell me where I can obtain "bridge insurance" without going broke?

If you currently have no pre-existing conditions and
are just worried about any problems that may occur between now and the 90 days get a temporary insurance.   Deductible is very high, but premium is very low.  You will have to pay out of pocket unless there is a catastrophic event.   You can't get this insurance though if there is a pre-existing condition and there can't have been a lap of insurance.
If you have no pre-existing conditions look into
getting a private policy.  Should be able to get a good one for under $400 and maybe less depending on deductible.
If you leave one job and get a so-called bridge policy for your SM
90-day waiting period at your new job, this this also qualify as no break in coverage.

I'm getting ready to switch jobs, and there is just no way that we can afford the Cobra payments.
mouse bridge

Romey:  A mouse bridge is a plastic or metal covering that fits over the number pad of a keyboard.   When you are working it allows you to bring the mouse in closer so you don't have as much of a reach which can strain your wrists, shoulder and neck area.  It also elevates the mouse and keeps it line with your wrist and arm and that also helps with wrist pain.  You can Google mouse bridge and see what they look like.  They sell for about 20 dollars or so and can be found on Ebay, Amazon, etc.   For the microsoft 4000 the best one is the largest one they sell  because that keyboard is so big.

Because I was in so much pain I did tons of research and looked at what would make a difference in the desk set up.  Besides a good  chair and keyboard the mouse set up is also important.  The split keyboards force you to have a MUCH longer reach and that is not good.   One of the drawbacks of a split keyboard even if you are not mousing that much.   I know some people put their mouse up on the desk because with their big keyboards the mouse will no longer fit in the tray.  From an ergonomics perspective that is a big no-no!

The mouse I chose was the Evoluent mouse and it is a mouse that is turned on its side and puts your wrist in a "handshake" position so much less stress on the wrist.  Granted it is expensive but it saved my wrist.   When I tell you I had pain so bad I could not touch the keyboard in the morning and my whole hand was numb.  I thought I would have to give up transcribing and look at another career.  The keyboard and mouse change made all the difference!

google mouse bridge
somone shared this with me on this board a while back, I haven't gotten one yet, but it is a little bridge that goes over your number pad of your keyboard that you sit your mouse on, pretty affordable too. Check it out.
Go crawl underneath your bridge troll!
You are a troll.  Get gone!!
And if thousands of people jumped off bridge,

the living conditions

The only life they know is confinement and pain.  From the little I let myself watch, they have absolutely no room to move, they are crammed and shoved in together.  They don't get to roam and do whats natural to them outdoors.  They are being born and raised primarily to be brutalized for crop.  Like a canned food factory.  They get their body parts cut off, injuries from other animals, and have to live in physical pain until they are ready to be put out of their misery for whatever purpose they serve.

In all honesty, I absolutely love meat and enjoy it on rare occasions, and it is meant for us to consume.  There is another way to do it!  They cannot be treated as if they do not have feelings, they 'feel' pain, the mother's are distressed when their calves are taken away, the calves are scared, you see it in their eyes, as another living thing, you have got to connect with this.  Its an awful way for any living thing to go through, even in a short time.

I can see being raised on a farm, room to roam, be outside, run, eat normally, socialize with their breed, have a life.  They do not know the better that they are being raised for our consumption, there are living in peace without pain and living freely.  Being crammed, thrown around, beaks cut off, having throats slit, hung upside down while still alive thriving in pain is not a peaceful life.

Work conditions
The more experience you gain, the better jobs up ahead.  Sure it hurts to say goodbye, but it hurts worse to stick around.
Speak for yourself. I have fabulous conditions
with my present employer and have had the entire 3 years I've been there.

Conditions are NOT deplorable for all MTs -- only when you accept those conditions are they present.

While we don't need to assume responsibility for turnover costs, it's no wonder companies don't want to give some the time of day. They want MTs who have a proven track record of dedicated length of service, production, and quality and who are interested in doing that again.

It DOES cost to hire -- and that does NOT mean necessarily the actual training of an experienced MT but includes HR personnal to interview/process you, the time others have to cover while you learn your accounts, etc.

If you're a responsible person at all, you'd have a better attitude than the one you just posted.
Question about pre-existing exlusions on new

I'm leaving my long-time current MT job.  The insurance at the new job  won't be effective for over 90 days (I"m not sure if it's PPO, POS or HMO).  I will be paying COBRA to my old job in the meantime, though I sure am tempted to go a couple of months without it and hope for the best.

I'm hearing that many insurances are not covering pre-existing conditions.  Is this true even if I  have COBRA? Is there a federal regulation on this or will it vary from company to company?

Where on the scale of conditions would a guarded

condition be?

Loved the work, hate the conditions
I loved being a transcriptionist. I just hated what the job had become. I really enjoyed for years, but once we switched from being paid hourly to being paid production, it just went downhill. Too many things can interfere with production, as you are finding out. Doesn't matter how fast you type. If the server goes down, the electricity goes out or you're stuck with crappy dictators, your paycheck will suffer.
AAMT didn't cause conditions to plummet BUT
when they sold us out and went to India is when I saw things really go downhill.
HIPAA laws require that all pre-existing..sm...
conditions be covered as long as there is NO break in coverage.
Another thought . . . get the pre-existing clause in writing from your employer --

Not from the insurance company itself, because the insurance company may tell you something different from what the agreed-to clause between them and your employer says.

Insurance company interprets pre-existing condition in a different way than your employed agreed to in their contract with the insurance company.

Again, get it in writing from your new employer -- that is what counts -- not what the insurance may interpret as preexisting.  There is a contract between employer and insurance company, and that wording needs to be clarified by HR person handling the insurance benefits.

I think pre-existing stuff may kick in if you have have no certificate of previous coverage.
nm
Here's the deal. The only way to avoid the pre-existing waiting period (usually 12 months) is to
insurances..Even at that, say you have coverage until the end of July miss August and get new insurance September 1, your new insurance cant do a 12-month waiting on you for pre-existing but they can make you wait that 1 month that you didnt have insurance so...in effect, if you new insurance starts on Sept 1..it wouldnt have to cover a preexisting problem until October 1 cuz you missed a month. My advice.. keep the Cobra.. I know it's a fortunate but if you had any kind of complication or anything related to a preexisting and you have to miss a month of coverage..it could be really painful. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Assuming your existing documents are based on the Normal template...
You can open the Normal template, make the changes you mention, and then save it. When you open your existing documents, they will be corrected. Hope this is the info you're looking for.
Need MQ MTS shell help ASAP!!

My dictionary is doing something strange.  Before, when I had a misspelled word it would bring up a yellow box with other words (listed a, b, c and so on) and I could choose the correct word.  It suddenly stopped doing that one day!  Now I have to either figure out how to really spell it (I'm a horrible speller) or look it up rather than have the program drag up similar words.

Any ideas how I fix this?  It's really bothering me and slowing me way, way down.  I even re-formatted the dictionary.

THANK YOU!!!

Need recipe ASAP!! (sm)
Ok, someone please help me find a recipe for this stuff .. my mother wants it bad and is driving me nuts over it.  Cannot believe a web search has not helped..I may not have the correct name it's called.  She is wanting to make some of those "cheese rings" this weekend.  They look like a cookie, but not sweet.  Usually made with a cookie press I believe.  Just a strong cheddar cheese taste..made like the regular spritz cookies I think.  My great grandmother was the only one we ever knew that made them back in Carolina..can't seem to find anyone here in the central US that knows what it is LOL  Thanks!
Need info ASAP

WordZXpressed in Georgia, are they any good, what do they pay, etc.?  Any info.Alice

HELP (sorry for shouting) but I need help ASAP sm

here's the instructions I have been given with name of company, etc. deleted

Accessing test dictation:  Using your internet browser , open our site: (name has been changed to yadayadayada for privacy purposes)

ftp://yadayadayada.com/medical/

This does NOT work as a link; you must type in the address yourself in your browser or copy and paste the address into your browser.

You will either be prompted to log in

User name:  yadayadayada Password:    yadayadayada

You will see many folders.  Double click on the testing folder.

 please download "testnotes.zip"

To download, simply double-click on the file in question and it will take it over to your hard drive.`  You will first need to "unzip" these files using Winzip.

Okay, I've done all of the above but now how do I get it to play like these instructions in bold say I can.

Once unzipped, these files can be played with any .wav file player.  Your computer's sound card will have software which will allow you to play the file.

in hospitals it seems always ASAP - SM
I work rad (employee) in a hospital, and they are always ALWAYS working to improve TAT. From the time the exam is done to complete dictation, they want 3-4 hours. That means if your doc delays the dictation, they want transcription NOW because the doc took so long.

However, in the situation you describe, checking back in 1-2 hours should not matter that much. You should just let them know the deal - they probably know how that radiologist is as much (or better) than you. Maybe they/he could call or email when he is done?

My hospital has a contract with a sister hospital to do their radiology - they have radiologists that do this exact same thing. We told them when our staffing is available. If they do not dictate during that time, then their reports are delayed -- no question. they have to deal with it.

Doing it yourself, your situation is different, of course, but hopefully they would work with you to let you know when the work is available so that you don't have to be "on call" for them.

As far as line rates, I can't say an average. I have another rad account that I do at $.15/line, but this is 3 days a week for a mobile service (TAT is 1-3 DAYS here...) I would charge more if they needed it "now", especially if they wouldn't work with me as to when "now" might be!

Long answer - hope it helps.
Feel free to email with any more questions if you want.
Pls contact me ASAP!
Please send me a personal pm with your contact details, basic information re: client, location, etc. Pending receipt of your mail, I will establish contact with you details.

HELP-ASAP Tract or track (sm)

Haven't been doing surgery for a while and cannot remember the rule for tract/track.  Couldn't find it in the AAMT BOS either.  Thanks!!

EX:  I probed this area with a Q-tip and found that she, indeed, has a sinus tract/track leading to a cavity below the healed skin.

Call a lawyer ASAP!!
You can get advice from an attorney free for the first consultation--just make sure attorney specializes in land purchases and sales so you're given good info. You also need to go to your court house or whereever your land deed is recorded and find out what is required by the court for a legal sale of that land, get copies of everything pertaining to it, check on the taxes to make sure they are all paid or not. Lawyers do take payment plans. Don't wait on this one--if you don't want to be homeless. When it comes to greed and some families, they could treat you worse than strangers. You don't pay your house payment to them, do you? What could happen is if this is a majority party contract--meaning only a certain number of owners are required for the sale to go through--that would be on your note, they could then charge you land rent--an exorbitant amount--to make you move, so see a lawyer ASAP and take all documentation with you. Everything.

Good Luck. I am really sorry this is happening to you.

Help with Instant Text ASAP

My Instant Text "unloaded" itself while I was working last night.  I immediately tried to call support and e-mailed them, am still waiting to get ahold of them and the clock is ticking.  I turned my computer off and on and it stil does the same thing.  When I try to load the program, a box pops up saying it is loading glossaries and then the box disappears and Instant Text is not loaded.  Should I uninstall and reinstall it?  I have made copies of my glossaries to a floppy.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  I can't get into the program at all to see if I accidentally set something wrong.

I have a quick question - need help ASAP. sm
The company that I work for uses the iType program.  I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and if so how it was taken care of.  On some of the docs that I get to transcribe there is lots of static/cutting out (almost sounds as if there is a power shortage - that type of sound) in the dictation.  It is mostly when the docs speak close to the recording device or if they speak loudly.  I have tried different sound cards, adjusted speaker volume, tried different speakers and I still have this problem.  Any help would be appreciated.
Even if it is a 2-week break? Need to know ASAP
My husband is switching jobs. Insurance was supposed to be covered through the month and now found it is until the 15th. I have MULTIPLE medical conditions, ones that the insurance we are changing to knows about because I cost them millions in the last few years. Please let me know. Our COBRA payment for 2-week coverage is $1,040 just for me. We are more than financially stapped right now.
Thanks, but I just bought one since I needed it ASAP.
Thanks anyhow ;-)
Bayscribe help needed ASAP! Is there a way

I can get directly back to a certain point in the text instead of having to relisten to the report again and try to find it?  I need to make some corrections in this HUGE report and it's going to take forever unless there's a trick to finding the specific point on the report.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

There is policy about this.

Please write the Administrator about this (admin@mtstars.com).

I think the policy is
as long as they have an American office (storefront) they are still considered American and they do not allow offshore MT's to post resumes - but that is an I think.

HELP - Advice needed for my friend ASAP - sm

My friend and her boyfriend of 5 years recently obtained custody of the boyfriend's now 7-year old daughter.   You talk about a handful of trouble, that's exactly what has been packaged into this mini sized monster child.

Bear with me because this will be quite lengthy.  I  will call the girl by her nickname, Tater.

Tater was 5 when my friend (S) and her boyfriend (D) started with the custody proceedings.  Every time Tater would come for visitations, she was full of these wild stories that were quite alarming to S and D.  She would come and tell them how her mom walks around the house naked all the time with all of these different boyfriends, how one of those boyfriends held a pillow over her (Tater) face one time, and how Tater and her baby brother were often left alone for hours at a time and sometimes overnight while her mom was out "getting drunk" with her boyfriends.

Naturally, S and D were really upset by these stories and so they got an attorney and really pushed for custody.  They got custody in March 2005 and their life has been a living hell since she has come to live with them.

Less than a day or so after she moved in, she started telling them how one of her mom's boyfriends "did things to her" so S and D were once again in an emotional fit because they thought someone had molested Tater.   They called a psychologist and the police.  Had her evaluated, everything.  Even had Tater talk to a detective that works child abuse cases.  His findings and the psychologist's findings were the same.  She had not been abused and, in fact, had a severe problem with delineating fact from fantasy.

Tater now sees the psychologist once per week.  The goal of the treatment was originally to get Tater to understand the difference between telling stories and the truth, along with dealing with the fact that her mother now has absolutely no contact with her.  It's been rough for S and D as well as Tater.

Things went well for a short time, then school started 3 weeks ago.  Since starting school, S and D have been called to the school numerous times because Tater has either said that she couldn't do her homework because her daddy was "all drunk", that when S dropped her off at school she was "drinking wine from a bottle in the car" (it was green tea in a glass bottle,) and that they don't allow her to talk to her mother, which is not true. Her mother has supervised visitation but chooses to opt out.

She has told her aunt and uncle that S killed her cat on purpose when it was actually her aunt who accidentally ran over the cat but Tater didn't know that.  She told one of the neighbors that her mommy had her (Tater) picture taken once and was in a naughty magazine because her mom got money for it and Tater would get it when she was old enough.  OMG yet?  Yeah!  This kid is something else.

She also made a little boy cry in class by rudely saying how he was so stupid and slow during outloud reading time.

S and D have tried all of the things the psychologist have recommended, taking her toys, taking her TV, radio, making her write apologies and hand deliver them, and sit directly behind the bus driver (for even more trouble on the bus.)

She also missed the bus home purposely last week because she was going to go to a friend's house.  Her grandmother had to come all the way into town (they live about 10 miles out) to get her.   When D and S questioned her about what she was doing, she screamed at them that it was "HER LIFE" and she could do what she wanted if she felt like it.  Remember folks, this kid turned 7 last month!

Now, a few minutes ago, S called me in tears.  She got another call from the school because Tater had told some of the boys that another boy was threatening her and making her scared (which was a lie) so she wanted them to do something about it.  These 3 little boys proceeded to gang up on the other boy and he was hurt.  Not seriously but that he was hurt is bad enough.  These 3 boys and Tater are now suspended.  These are first graders and this is a very small town.

S and D are ready to snap.  I don't know what else to tell her.  The psychologist told S and D that she was afraid that Tater had multiple personality disorder but couldn't make that diagnosis on a definitive basis because, as of yet, there are no clear cut documented cases in children of this age.  They usually don't start developing these tendencies until they are in their mid to late teens.

I have looked online for any kind of research or specialists that can deal with this but it's very difficult to find information even on pre-adolescents that are out of control.

I am asking for your help.  If anyone knows of a professional or group that can help S and D with Tater, PLEASE post here ASAP.  At this point, I'm very concerned about THEIR well being. This kid is a serious danger.  There is much more but I think I have told you enough already.   We are in Washington State too, just in case anyone has any ideas where to go for help.

Thank you so very much if any of you can help.
