ortho procedures
It sounds like the MD is saying "oatsi"  this is on a patellofemoral procedure. Can anyone help?
If the clinic does procedures or is SM

accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of HEALTHCARE Organizations, they have to comply.

I think gynecologic procedures
get me- it makes me sick to my stomach to hear some of the stuff they do, like I can feel it myself. And could there be a creepier term than uterine cry???
I have them for routine procedures for
the same doc -- T&A, cholecystectomies, appy's, and a lot of my orthopedic doctors. I also have them for ROS and PE exams. I just leave jump markers for values, right/left, and things like that.
Mayor NO followed NONE of the procedures he was supposed to
Heard this on the radio.  There are certain steps in the city emergency procedures that are to be followed on a local level, state level, national level.   The mayor of NO for all his complaining about the Federal Government, did not follow any of the procedures he was required to.  Interesting.
I like procedures/ops, because of not fooling with grammar much or Sm
drugs, new stuff. I am lazy and don't like to work very long in the day!
Ask your QA what the account considers procedures sm
and make a list.

This really CAN be confusing at times.
What types of procedures? I love doing

cardiac caths because most docs will say the same thing over and over, same for bypass grafting, just different grafts and locations.  All in all the procedures stay basically the same.  This also works for cardioverting, just change the joules where appropriate.  When I do a cath or other procedure for the first time. I will make a normal for it then make changes as they come along.  These procedures can be good for the line count!.  Also, in your short keys, make short cuts for left and right anterior descending, ejection fraction, end diastolic pressure, etc., you get the picture.  They will use these a lot.

I have found that most of the time the more difficult dictators are the ones that will basically go word for word in dictating their reports.  Good luck!

Need help from Cardiology MTs
I was just put on an account that has tons of cardiac reports, lots of echos and cath reports that I have never done before.  Can anyone suggest good references or websites that can help me with this?  I'm having a hard time verifying guidwire and stent names.  I have 2 surgery books and Stedman's Cardiology, but I can't find everything I need to look up and I'm so overwhelmed.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Repetative procedures you can template for faster lines..easy $$ nm

Is anyone out there transcribing for Cardiology?
Just wondering if it is fairly easy to catch on or a pain in the butt? I might take a position but I'd like to know if I will be able to handle it as a newbie? What do you think?
HELP! cardiology question

when dictating...He has a dominant _______ (circ) which is 100% occluded....colaterals for a AV ______ (circ)

what is circ? circumflex artery?

Capitalization of Cardiology
I was taught (and it is required by my company) that you capitalize a word not usually capitalized when it is used as an entity as it is in your example (used to mean someone in the cardiology dept). A good example is when a doc says "An orogastric tube was placed by Anesthesia" you would capitalize anesthesia, as it refers to a person and not "the thing" of anesthesia. If not capitalized, it calls to mind some kind of anesthesia (endotrachial, perhaps?) placing the orogastric tube. Capitlizing it adds clarity.
Cardiology MTs will laugh at this

I found this on YouTube yesterday and wanted to share. It's done by med students and is reall well written and funny. I don't do cardiology, but still got a big kick out of it (and learned some things).

Don't forget the "good Mayor" who did not follow standard emergency procedures
But he sure is quick to throw blame on everyone else.
Cardiology is my favorite specialty (sm)
I can't say why, though. I just like the terminology and it just seems like it's easier to look things up maybe?

Be sure you have a good cardiology book. It will be helpful, but if you do caths and PCIs, etc. there are new instruments and stents that come out like it seems every minute, so having a few good cardiology sites and knowing how to search the web is a big help.

I ENVY YOU!! And good luck!
I've been doing Cardiology for 7+ years -
and have been thinking about changing as the company I work for is beginning to send things overseas.  What company is hiring for oncology?  I gues it wouldn't hurt to inquire.  Thanks and good luck to you.

productive day

Hello to Everyone in MT Land:

I pray that everyone will have a productive and fulfilling day.  Please know that your work is important, and you are helping countless people.  I encourage you to become better and better at what you do.  Have a great day!

But as soon as I get productive
That's the part I hate about drinking coffee - as soon as I get in the groove my kidneys wake up right along with the rest of me!
Yep, cardiology here, too! Used to hate those super long sm
op notes but found I got great lines with them! Now, I can't wait to do them.
Good cardiology info site?

This is the process I use and seems the most productive
When I get a bad dictator, which is 70% of the time, whether it be one who rushes, one who mumbles, an ESL, or one with a bad phone line, i'll type the report quickly, leaving blanks, just to give it a dry run and an overall feel for what its about.  Then I go back and listen carefully, research if needed, and fill in the blanks.  With this, about 75% of the time I can get ALL the blanks.  I don't obsess over something too much the second time around.  If its an easy dictator, I'll go through it slowly and carefully one time and send it on its way without rereading.
being productive with an infant...?
Hi everyone!! I have a 6-week-old beautiful baby girl who LOVES to be held all of the time (she is breastfed). I've really been struggling with making production, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice on this. I do not want to have to pay a sitter, as I feel I can work this out. Sometimes she is content to lay across my lap, propped against the arm of the couch. This works pretty well (although I'm at a funky angle and make more typing errors)...since she doesn't tolerate the swing or the bouncy seat for very long....
Yeah, have a productive day.......
and let's hope the children are well behaved today! LOL!
Sorry that I'm happier and more productive than you are!

This is the BEST way to work, most productive etc. I

VR using EXText -- is it productive? SM

Getting ready to start doing VR through EXText.  I watched a demonstration of the VR editing process and it looks horrible!  From what I saw, it is not as simple as listening to the report, taking your foot of the pedal, and making a change.  There is a process of alt+s and then highlight the word to correct, etc...  It just looked very VERY tedious and unproductive.  I currently transcribe using EXText and have used EXText since it was first marketed, so I'm very familiary with it.  The VR portion of it is very new to me and seems like more of a burden than anything.

Then I was told that iChart will make the VR process much simplier and I'm wondering if this is true?

I have experience with VR using Escription and with the FutureNet program and both are so simple to use.  The Dictaphone software just looks completely complicated and I can't see making any money using it.

Anybody who has experience with iChart, Dictaphone VR and EXText and would like to share their opinions and give me some more info, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Is ABCZ the most productive?

I am just curious.  Do you all productive MTs feel that the abcz method/system is more productive than other systems?  I need to double my production.  I am only getting 800 lines a day and I need 2000, but I cannot work 24 hours a day!

Thanks

I love procedures, colonscopes, EGDs, cardiac caths - this stuff earns me the good money, ESL or no!

i give credit to all who love ops cuz i cant stand them. i like cardiology
/
Hardest: Dental surgery. Easiest: Cardiology, OPs. sm
Most interesting: Psych.

I think it's generally whatever you get the least of that you'll find the hardest. I used to hate OPs, GI procedures, and cardiology, but eventually got used to them and found they are repetitive (aka good money makers!).
Cardiology and sleep study transcription questions

I am looking for other Transcriptionist that have cardiology and sleep study backgrounds. I am a newer MT, I am starting a cardiology and sleep study transcription account next week and have never transcribed for this specialty.

I wanted to know if there are specific word books or websites that you find helpful and are there specific things that you could tell me about the specialty that may help me?

I would appreciate any feedback

Thanks,

Angie

ChartScript- is it productive software?
As far as easy to get line counts.  Is is already loaded with spellcheck and can you use your own abbreviation expander.
very user friendly, productive ...
i was disappointed my lines didn't increase more dramatically over old system -- but there was an increase. I like it well enough i hope i never have to use another system. Maybe the 'decrease' in lines others report is due to messing around on the internet instead of working, as 2 minutes here and there really can add up...
For you happy highly productive MQ MTs

Help those of us who are struggling by giving us some pointers on what you are doing to be so successful and happy.  I am very discouraged.  I do not want to have to start over with a new company.  I have 15 years experience, 8 of those with MQ.  Since DQS, I cannot get quota.  Never had a problem before, so I am not understanding.

Please give me any suggestions that might increase my productivity.  And before all the comments of "stay off the board" begin - I am not working today.  I do have some self discipline.

what shift are you guys more productive
I'm thinking of switching to split, so I can get my brain and hands away to rest, but I dont know if i'll just dread working the rest of my shift all day.  I've been doing straight first shift for over 10 years and its taken a toll on my mind and body, I figure I could get stuff done during the day, and come back to it.  But again, the dread of working still scares me.  Anyone find they are more productive on a certain shift and why?  First, Second, third or split?
Most productive work type?

What is the most productive work type?  Radiology, OP, etc?  Which one can you really make the money on?

Help staying awake and productive
I have real problems staying awake, focused and productive.  I am alone all day, I think I get enough sleep, and I keep the TV on in the other room for another voice, but I get bored and can't keep my concentration and then I start web surfing and my productivity goes in the hopper.  Any suggestions on staying awake and focused?
