In Reply to: How to research a supposed law in California saying I owe taxes for work there even though I live ou - Emily Ayn

I had the same thing happen to me and I called the Finance Depart. and spoke with the head of that department. I do not live in CA and am governed by the state I live in because I work at home.

Regardless, as IC, taxes are not to be taken out on my behalf. They got back to me and agreed that I was correct.

I did not fill out any form and it has worked out in the end.

So, No, do not fill out the form and call the higher ups so they can clarify that "tax law" They are probably just not well informed and are used to dealing with employees more so than ICs.
