It sucks the life out of the language and leads to unbearable sameness and boredom. For what? "TID" is just as understandable as "t.i.d." If standardization were somehow necessary I'm sure JCAHO would have required it long ago.

By the way, "verbatim" is not quite correct. A verbatim transcript would include every "uh", every "sorry", every "go back to HPI and add", etc. Everything.
