I have worked on three EMR programs but I always typed directly into the patient's chart. When I could not sign on at home at first, I typed in word and then went into the office and cut and pasted what I had typed into the chart. Again, that way the office staff did not have to do anything extra. The chart then showed it was ready for signature or signing off, some of the docs I signed for the after they trusted me, kind of line "Dictated but not read" while other wanted to review and sign their own. But that is how I did it.
