 cost of keeping those 3 letters behind your name and that most employers don't reimburse for that - it actually costs you money in the long run.
 
 As a manager I've seen many "CMTs" that weren't worth a toot when it came to transcription quality and a lot of hospitals don't care whether or not  transcriptionists have that title behind their name.  All they care about is the reports are transcribed accurately.  It's only AAMT that self-proclaims that  these 3 letters are worth something and they just say that to try to keep people buying their stuff.  As for me, I became a CMT in the past only when it was required by a particular client but elected to not keep up the certification when it no longer was required.
