We have to laugh, or we'd cry some days. It's all in humor.

and the problem is?

Geez, what do you want from this guy? He sounds like an absolute jewel to me!

Can I have him then?
You're not kidding...

I use Windows XP and uninstalled some program on my computer yesterday.  A few minutes later when I later tried to log into the the transcription program that I use, it would not work.  After panicking for a minute or 2 I remembered the handy System Restore feature. I restored my computer to the previous day and everything works like a charm now!

It is a life saver!

You're kidding right? sm

If you are there, they can see you, so no violation calling you by name (what if there were 2 patients same first name?)  Only violation is if they DISCUSS your health information with someone else or with you in front of others, you are there, people can see you.  If you want complete privacy, ask to be taken in the back door, directly to a procedure room and leave through the back door.  Get real.

As for the person who overheard you registering, that is just rudeness on the part of the other patient, the cubicles are enough protection and the hospital did their part, the other person was just nosy and inconsiderate.

I have been to offices where the walls were so thin, I could hear both ends of the conversation completely, violation - NO, they didn't mean to make the walls thin or for me to have good ears.

You're kidding right?
You would rather hire a tech savvy person than one who has a good MT background. So solly. I do not agree. What galls me is that there are so many MTs who lie on their applications anyway that it's hard to tell the reality until you see their work. I'd rather have an experienced MT or one that I could individually mentor than someone with good tech background and little to no experience, especially one who tells me he/she has experience that will be just right.
You're kidding, right?
I don't know if you speak Spanish at all, but even if you don't, you're aware of the speed in which that language seems to go, right?

Now, imagine having to learn Spanish to do Spanish transcription. Imagine Mexican doctors eating while talking, coughing while talking, mumbling while talking, etc.

How long do you think it would take before you actually understood them well enough to provide quality transcription? Years. Years and years and immersion in all things that are the Spanish language. Not to mention HIGHLY technical medical language to boot.

Of all of the careers that could go overseas, ours is the one that absolutely SHOULD NOT, because it's English-language based (and FULL of nuances, horrible dictators, and technical language).

But, and I'm going to drive this into the ground until someone actually acknowledges its truth:

THE INDUSTRY DOES NOT WANT QUALITY FROM US. If it did, doing our job would require certification. It would require regulation. And it would NOT go overseas.

Healthcare was given a choice: Good, fast, cheap - pick two. They pick fast and cheap almost every time.
you're kidding, right? sm
try Googling something else! (wow)
Marilyn Monroe??? Jerry Lewis??? You're kidding right?
,
ONCE. All day, every day. LOL Just kidding....
Or not...
No kidding...
All that wind, and very little rain...  But it DID manage to snap one of my trees in half, cause another tree to partially uproot, blow a plastic baby pool into our yard, and knock over our nice swing in the backyard!  Trees all over our neighborhood are completely knocked over, and this is a subdivision where all the homes have been there 2+ years!  Can we say the landscapers sucked?!
Are you kidding me?
That is so low. That just makes me madder.
You have got to be kidding!
You need to re-read your post sister - You indicate Medquist has spent millions regarding the lawsuit and could ONLY spare $20,000 for Katrina victims? You have got to be kidding - what the heck did you give to Katrina victims?

The one thing I can say for MedQuist is at least they are paying their debt and not filing chapter 11 or closing the business or just running and hiding - they are coming clean and that is respectful. What IS NOT respectful is your arrogant remarks regarding them ONLY GIVING $20,000. I want to hear it from you - HONESTLY WHAT DID YOU GIVE?

Get a life and find something better to gripe about. I could only imagine if they gave a million dollars, you would be whining again because you want a raise and here they are giving all this money away. UGH - good golly!

I will assume that if I don't get a response back from you that you gave nothing to Karina victims and are speechless.
no kidding
it certainly does make a mockery of this so-called profession. Corporate material?....no! Trailer park material.....absolutely! And I love it - I come here for entertainment! LOL!
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!
Where??? The only time you hear from them is when they want to be nasty and mean to you for not doing enough work!!! SS s***s.
you have to be kidding me
peep is just people...in the 'old times' it was a peeping tom, get with the times.........don't get so OFFENDED!!!!!!!!
you are kidding, right?
you are kidding.
Are you kidding?
Look, stand up for your business. At 0.8 per gross line, with that many templates and time, she has no excuse but to get it right. None of my accounts would tolerate that. She must take no pride in her work. And if you keep making her corrections, etc., you are hurting yourself. If she were a friend, she would want to get it right and be grateful for the work. Has she heard of "spellcheck"? I have helped friends out and they have helped me, but we would expect the best, not just "get through with it as fast as possible". Rethink this person kiddo. There's gotta be someone else who would appreciate this work.
Are you kidding?
We both work and neither one of us wants to be bothered talking on the phone during the day.  We talk when he gets home.
RU kidding????
I'll have U know I DID work at BK from 1974-76 when in hi school and NO WAY would I trade my keyboard fingers for french frie smell! LOL Ewww....they always stuck me on fries (couldn't deal with customers) - yuck. I always had french fry hair from that darn cap I had to wear!
Are you kidding?
Sorry, don't mean to sound mean, but do you not know what court reporting is? There is no way that this can be done from home. You have to document what is said while it is being said in the courtroom. Sheesh!
You have GOT to be kidding...

Please tell me you are kidding! Unbelievable how naieve some people are, simply unbelievable!

You really should go to the ER. No kidding.

I have a dear friend who is in his early 50s.  He has the standard headaches and takes his BC Powders.

Last year at Christmas he was going home for the holidays and I had gone by his office to wish him happy holidays, and he was literally laying on the table with the worst h/a ever he said.  His eye was even a little blood shot (like you get with a really bad h/a).

On the way home, he finally couldn't take it anymore and pulled into an ER about 20 minutes from where he lives.

Within minutes they had done a CT and had him on a helicopter to Univ of Ala at B'Ham.

He had a brain tumor!  Never would have thought it - wouldn't have ever even considered to think that.  He was healthy as a horse.

So, please go to the ER.  BTW he had surgery and he is doing really good.  But he wouldn't have if he hadn't stopped and pulled into that ER that day.

Not kidding
Spirits in the house  - go ahead and laugh, or tell me you wanted a serious answer.  That is one.  I've seen it before.
Are you kidding me???
Next week they're all going to sing Queen??? The only one I can see pulling that off is Chris. Can you imagine Bucky and Kelly singing Queen?

You have got to be kidding!
That should not be acceptable!
Are you kidding?
I realize I have troubles now with this icky account, but for me to work with SC's, well, I might as well jump from the fry pan straight into the fire - been there and done that and no more.  I've had it up to here with subcontractors, hearing all their excuses as to why they can't work (my kid's got the sniffles - I started my period - I have a headache - My third cousin in Omaha is sick, and I have to call her, yada, yada, yada) and I've had it up to here with looking at their sloppy work.  Working with SCs?  NEVER AGAIN!
LOL...no kidding

You are kidding, right? I cannot believe you
MTs WOULD drink while working.  Absolutely no way I would drink until my work was done, same as if I worked in a hospital.
You have got to be kidding me. LOL.
You were bashing their dictating habits because they were ESLs, now don't try to say you weren't. If that isn't about race then I don't know what is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad dictators come in all shapes, sizes, colors. Any good MT knows that.
Are you kidding??? sm
It was already almost 80 at 6 this morning.  High expected to be in the mid 90s, with heat index over 100...thank the good Lord above for A/C!!! ---me when I go outside!
6.5 cpl are you kidding
I was just offered a position with one of the major nationals.  I have 12 years of experience in multiple specialties in clinic work with many ESL dictators and some experience in acute care and ER but remote.  I have been working as an IC at 8 cpl for the longest time, which is okay but no benefits.  They had an incentitive program but come on. Is this really the going rate?
kidding? uh uh.
I am paid production . . . period.  I work as fast as I can and do as well as I can. I do not slow myself down to go back and re-read something I just transcribed. Sure I make mistakes now and then, but not often enough to slow myself down by rereading everything. That is insane. I am realistic. I am not a saint. I do not hold myself out as a representative of this bright shining idea of perfect Transcriptionist working loyally for less and less money and fewer and fewer benefits as the years go by.
You have got to be kidding me!

LOL...no kidding! nm

are you kidding me
Off shore MT get patient lists with SS# addresses, which can also be dictated and personal and social history - many also handle the billing for the clients as well - which includes even more information. - okay so maybe not the MT themselves in every instance - but the companies they work for - are you telling me that you have never received a patient list with personal information other than names? even on VPN systems, this information can be dictated and is available with a search. I agree we all need to get involved not as MTs, but as Americans - every individual no matter what work they do needs to know and demand their personal information be kept within the USA
OMG you have GOT to be kidding!
The sad thing is, I'm sure you're not.
No kidding!
The ctl+ctl fails to open for me sometimes also! The only connection I've made is that it sometimes happens after I close the alt+S screen. The only way I knew to get the function of ctl+ctl back is to shut down and start all over. Can you remember what you did to reactive the ctl+ctl feature? I don't know if I could replicate your twitch. LOL.

By the way, does anyone else have problems (sometimes) looking up doc names with ctl+A? Meaning, if you type something like k? to do a search, you would only get the first doctor in the database (his/her name would be Ka---. This is driving me nuts.

I'm still pretty new with EXText, so I feel pretty inadequate sometimes.

Are you kidding?
I just want to keep my electricity turned on so I can work! I do NOT have a garage. I do NOT have a house, I can barely pay my rent and have to buy my kids clothes at the second-hand store. Don't preach to me about luxury! You've got to be kidding! Speak for yourself.
you have got to be kidding!

this kind of response really blows me away.

OP not kidding
If you have kids in junior high/high school, ask their language arts/English teachers what text messaging is doing to writing skills.  OP had no way of knowing whether this was Amanda's usual way of writing or not.  If it had been, then to stop and use standard English was a good tip.  OP went on to mention a couple of companies that might hire newbies but also suggested reading posts about them on these boards, also good tips.  So just what is the problem?
You got to be kidding right?
Modified verbatim account - doc dictates Eyes:  No visual abnormalties.  ENT:  (various ums and ohs and ahs.. then) Patient is scheduled to have an eye transplant soon. .....  eye transplant under ENT!!!????   I took out ENT and left it all under eyes.  My Editor made me put it back in.  Duh.  Another instance of can't type so edit instead???  I wonder if the new eye is going to be in the patient's ear, nose or throat.. would be interesting to see at the least.  LOL
Are you kidding me? If it were,
we would all be on the road! Definitely not tax deductible.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME????

Who in the world could afford to wait to get paid until the employer gets paid etc. I would never agree to work under those circumstances. I need AND deserve a regular paycheck. You certainly couldn't call your mortgage company or credit card companies and tell them that you'll pay them when you get paid. That just doesn't fly. I was hired once by a company and then read the small print. You work the 2 weeks, submit your invoice, and then they have up to 45 days to pay your invoice.FORGET THAT. I said no thanks. I feel bad for both of the posters. That's two months without pay. They have NO excuse. Bad business practices if you ask me.

no kidding.
I've had ignorant ones like that before as well.
No kidding!
My GROWN sons:
1) Call home phone (which is on silent ring) but I see it flashing....leave no voice mail ...
2) Immediately call my cell (which is on vibrate)....leave no message....
3) Immediately call my home phone again....leave no message....
4) Immediately call my cell again ....

If I answer, they say, "Whatcha doing?" I don't answer now. They can leave a message if it is an emergency and I'll listen on a break...otherwise, just wait until I am finished with work.

They still, after all these years growing up with me working at home - barricading myself in a separate room with DO NOT DISTURB signs and groundings for needless interruptions - still do not get it. Poor dumb children -- KIDDING! LOL

LOL! No Kidding!!
That would really suc*, wouldn't it?

Just take good care of yourself so he doesn't get the opportunity! :-)
no kidding
I had a recruiter tell me once that she could transcribe 700 lph: STRAIGHT typing, NO templates, Expanders only.

I posted about it at the time & everyone seemed to agree it was hogwash. I felt a little better.
No kidding...that's just scary nm

YEAH, No kidding! What IS up with THAT! nm
xx
