In Reply to: The last call I received after a huge mailing (sm) - Studying MT

I live in Oregon so the cost of living is a little cheaper at least for housing.  However even at my 11.5 to 12.5 cpl. I average with the 5 docs that I type for my average hourly rate is between $30 and $35 and I am including the pick-up time, the printing, delivery, invoicing, etc.  So I really think that is a good hourly rate.  With good conscience I cannot charge more but that is me.  But again I have accounts that pay on time, never a bounced a check, give me Christmas bonus, birthday lunch, etc.   I am able after a very expensive divorce fight the past two years to now begin putting away over $1000 a month for my retirement.  And I must be doing something right as have had my accounts from 7 to 18 years and though the 16 cpl looks nice I know if I asked for that much I would be pulling in nothing.  And, again I don't feel I am short changing myself or settling for "India wages" or dong anything to keep the pay in the MT  field  down.   If you are still studying and expecting 16 cpl -- good luck and I do wish you the best.   Patti
