Jodi, just FYI, I used to live on the second floor of a 3-story unit. (The 3rd floor was the one with a rambunctious 6-year-old elephant boy in it. His favorite hobby was skyjumping from his mother's couch onto the floor.  If he made a crack in the wall he gave himself a "10" for that jump!)  However I read one of the posters below say that if you had an opportunity to move upstairs, do it -- and I echo that sentiment totally.  In fact, I actually DID move into the top floor of the unit about 6 months later, and I cannot tell you what a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE it made.  Not only is the "above" noise cancelled out, but so is much of the automobile and foot traffic noise that you hear from the everyday comings and goings of the other tenants, street traffic, etc.  Your only concern will be how quiet your next-door neighbors are.  Anyway, good luck, take the best of our collective advice, and make yourself some money.  You go!
