I honestly think that if it's possible to send any type of work overseas, companies will continue to do that to improve their bottom line. Those types of occupations would be manufacturing, engineering, research (paralegal is mostly research), customer service, and, our favorite, transcription, to name a few.

If you were to train in a profession that required you to be in the presence of the person to whom you are providing service(s), then you may find it will be a more stable and long-term occupation. These would include medical assistant, x-ray technicians, mechanics and even IT professionals because computers and telecommunications are what makes offshoring work so profitable for companies.

any MT to paralegals?

I have recently been thinking about going back to school in the next year or two, when my youngest starts full-day kindergarten...thinking of going for my Bachelor in paralegal, as I am interested in that area.   I already have an Associate in Bus. Adm.  Is there anyone out there that is, or was,  in school for paralegal, or actually working as one??  The school I am considering actually has a Saturday program just for "working", non-traditional-student, women just for this.  It is very expensive but I would most likely get decent financial aid.  It's such a big step and kind of out of character for me as I just usually go with the flow, stay with what's familiar,  rather than really put myself out.   But I am looking at my future, and MT is fine for now but not in the long run, financially speaking, among other reasons.   I do have two young ones (8 and 5) and trying to think if I could do this...I am 37 so I have a lot of working years left, and wanting more rewards for my work, financially, emotionally, benefits, retirement, etc.

Thoughts?
