Smack him upside the head.

If your DH is so selfish and rude that he can't wait a few minutes for you to finish up work so you can go together, he needs to reevaluate his priorities.  Mine gets impatient with me if I'm still working when he gets home at night.  How often does he stay home with the children so you can have a girls' night out?

How much do you work while the kids are home?  Is there any way you could cut back to parttime?

I used the canned air also or shake it upside down.
Then I take a damp sponge and wipe it down while unplugged. I have heard you can soak in water as long as you let it completely air dry before using but I've been afraid to do that. I will have to Google that one ;)
Upside is they won't be taking your work .. sm
as happens when the Lead is an MT who is on salary and plus gets to have complete control over the jobs coming in.  They deny doing this, but do you really think they keep the crap work for themselves and dole out the easier, better work?  Ever get a couple of good jobs in your queue (sometimes can tell by the ID#) which disappear as soon as they get there, replaced by crap?  You get my drift.
I hold it in the air, turn it upside down, & slam
it face down on the desk once, turn over and off I go!  Its amazing what tumbles to the floor............I've had the same IBM keyboard for at least 10 years now! Its great!
Give your keyboard a good upside down shake

Seriously...mine gets filled with all sorts of unspeakable oogies like cat hair, crumbs, and lord knows what else (thankfully I haven't spied anything that moves--yet!) and sometimes the keys (namely the shift/control/alt keys) stick.  These are the ones that will mess up control+function capabilities.  If that doesn't work, reboot.  If that doesn't work, call tech support just in case someone fiddled with preferences or something like that.

Another handy thing to have is one of those "cans of air" that you can blow out your keyboard with on occasion.

Good luck!

a year. After I clean it good I turn it upside down on a towel for a day and then I position it
the heat/air conditioning register so it gets good and dry for about 2 days.  If you don't let it dry good it won't work very well.    I've been washing mine about 2 years.
