The stability of your Internet connection will be the main factor in determining magicJack's reliability.  If you're using a wireless connection that tends to drop intermittently, then you'll get dropped phone calls.  I'd recommend good old cat V hard wiring into your modem/gateway and you should be fine.  I recently got magicJack and for $20 a year for unlimited long distance service, I can't complain.
