The whole notion of a liver detoxification is just a marketing ploy and a myth.

Myth

They probably got a discount since they are outdated.

Maybe your spellcheck is outdated?
and theirs is not?
One of the *outdated* things about it is that it was - sm
written back in the early 90s, when everyone thought that AAMT was a good thing, was on the MT's side, etc. So certain aspects of the book have to be looked at through the eyes of someone who now knows better than that! Still, lots of good nuts-and-bolts wisdom about running a home-based business.
Wow, maybe I'm glad to be outdated!

I'd type AutoCorrect in the Help section to see what you get. No clue where they'd hide it!

Hopefully this is not a stupid question - maybe we are outdated - sm

in our transcription department we type milligrams/deciliter as mg/dl.  However, the transcription outsource service we have types it as mg/dcl.  Which is correct???

Here is the other thing - when the doctors dictate KCl 20 mEq, we type it as noted.  However, the service has been typing it as Kay Ciel 20 mEq.  We have asked them not to use KCl because the floors and docs might get confused (even though they are educated, they can be quite lazy), however, they won't stop doing it.  Have we been transcribing it wrong and the service is right???

Co. requires outdated version...

Trying to get started with Focus and they require Microsoft Office Professional 2003.  I cannot get this from a reputable company.  They tell me that 2007 is not compatible with their system, but the people from microsoft doesn't see how it couldn't be.  Does anyone know a legal and reputable way to get this?

I have 1 year of experience.  Does anyone know of another good company that willh hire PT with this experience.  Thanks.

There is misinformation in books, too. And outdated information.
Besides, there are extremely reliable websites on the 'Net if you've got brains enough to find them.  It's not being cheap or lazy.  It's being resourceful and up to date.  Time saved using a website search engine is money saved for the company because you've got more time to type.  That's OK.  You stay in the stone age and criticize people.  I'll take all the work.
platform outdated, demos cumbersome
Could the person who posted about the company they work for having a slow outdated platform, having to fill in a lot of demographics, cc complicated, etc., please Email me.  I think I am in the same boat.  Thanks.
I think it is outdated, still lots of work requiring one. nm

IRS created the new SE definition and

then felt it was being abused.  They then noticed how large the MT industry was and decided that would be where they would focus their efforts to decide whether to keep the status or do away with it.  In order to find out that information, they had to start doing audits if the "SE" box on your W2 was marked.  I hired a tax person to help me but his efforts were fruitless.  One day after faxing back and forth and writing back and forth, I got on the phone and held for almost 5 hours until I got someone in the department created for consumer complaint resolution.  I was amazed to find myself talking to someone who was intelligent!  They saw what the problem was, saw that all the documentation was in place and negated all activity by clicking a few keys on his computer.  I had owed about $2000 that year but had already paid it as it was a retroactive audit, so I was lucky with how things worked out.

I was just wondering if anyone else had problems.  I've chosen to never again have SE status so as not to have lightening strike again!

If this was on a template that you had created--sm
or if it was sent to you, you can open the template, change the view percent, save the document that way, and it should reopen in the new view percent.
Nursing has created their own shortage
by severely restricting the availability of classes for students and refusing to make the class time available in the evenings, weekends, etc.

They also created their own shortage by making so many of the jobs papershuffling jobs rather than hands on care, and many of those jobs could easily be filled by a trained technician rather than an RN.

I do not feel sorry for nurses.
Not all QA people are created equal
If you absolutely love it, you really must have an aptitude for the job. Many of the QA people were once MTs themselves and could not keep up the pace nor did they have the necessary aptitude it takes so they became QA. So you are dealing with this scenario. Think about it.
Not all jobs are created equally either.
I won't work for the big nationals. They always wind up sticking me on ESL and difficult specialties that "nobody else can do," bouncing from account to account for coverage, several pools of hundreds of dictators, can't use your Expander much because you never hear the same dictator twice, every work type, look up addresses and patient demos. It's all about what *I* can do for them, not what *I* need to earn to support my family. Forget that! Why should I work harder for a cut in pay?

MULTIPLE PERSONALITY DISORDER
Great! Created a heading format, now want to
have the cursor start at the beginning of the first heading, can that be done within the autotext?
Wow .. $149!! It says it was created for ipod users -- is the cord sm
long enough to go to your computer, or did you have to get some kind of extension device?  They sound great ... just not sure if cheap ol' me is ready for fork out that kinda cash.
...do an incorrect word or even pull up something already created...nm

With shortcuts, the important thing is that they are created with - sm
a system that is consistent, and that you can remember easily. It's generally not a good idea to try to incorporate someone else's shortcuts (though I appreciate the chance to look at them, as sometimes they can give me ideas for one's I've not yet used :-) for that reason, and these don't seem to follow a very consistent method.
I had created a huge dictionary in my expander too...sm
But I was still a butterfingers! Just lack of fine motor skills, I suppose. Couldn't have made it without my word expander.

I remember when we typed on IBM Selectric typewrites and EVERY single word had to be typed out. Geez, what a bore!
Can an expander be created in Shorthand while typing the document?
Or do you have to get out of the document and make up the expansions?  When you download it from the website, do you get any instructions along with the program?  Any other info would be appreciated.
Not all 8 cents a line situations are created equal sm
I am coming off a job using Extext and going into one using ChartNet. I have used Smart Type for over a decade and for Chartnet I have to go to Instant Text. I am able to do over 200 lines an hour after about a week at the new job. I will get to 300 again in a month or so. I say again because I have not done that much in a long time.

Extext...I loved it when I first used it, but after 18 months I can't get above 170 lph and that is with echoes and normals with lots of free lines, and that includes dozens of normals and report shells I have made myself. It won't get better and that is poor pay at the 8.5 cpl base rate, but then again I always have bonuses of a couple of kinds and shift differentials...but I can't do better than 1200 lines a day with any consistency, not in 8 hours a day.

I work a job in MedRite. Like Extext, it is a Word client and rather similar. Top rate for MedRite is close to 300 lines an hour on a horrid account with 80% PLUS ESLs. It is just a faster platform.

Enter ChartNet...never used it. Had to switch to Instant Text...never used it. I have been working about 5 days on it and I can do 200 lph and only one doctor so far who throws me for a loop when I can't do that. She is not an ESL, but a slurring motor mouth who skips around and forgets what she is doing on the phone in the first place.

The Extext work has been 90% OP notes, my specialty. The others are all the basic 4, and I have to say that I went from clinic for many years to OP notes, skipping the rest in between. I have very little experience in DS, CN and H&P notes, VERY little time with those. I'd be faster with them if I had done more of them before.

Part of speed is the expander, part is the platform and part is you. It doesn't matter how great you are as a typist and how perfect your expander, if the platform isn't very good you can't make money at any line rate. If the platform is good, but you are not Expander savvy, you won't you make it either. You can, however, be like me and a poor typist with a great expander and a decent platform...and STILL make money. LOL

In MY experience, the largest problem with making more money is the expander GLOSSARY, not which program you choose. I have heard some of the craziest stories about how to use an expander while on this board...ridiculous, wonky, time wasting, counter intuitive toro pu pu!!!! If you are struggling with an expander FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME. I am happy to spend my time helping anyone who will genuinely give my methods a shot.
This isn't RELIGION 101
This happens to be medical transcription we're talking about....maybe you're one of those recruiters that will hire just about anyone, including illiterate people, to take more of our jobs away....this isn't about JUDGING anyone.....it's only about raising the bar and DEMANDING quality and professionalism from our peers......I wonder what you're work looks like......hmmmmm. I still stick to what I said.....If you can't pass a basic vocabulary test in the ENGLISH language.....MOVE ON!
Religion
Can you spell blasphemy?
"Wacked out about religion". How come you sm
don't say that about the others who are completely wacko? I can think of Tom Cruise and Scientology Richard Gere and Buddhism (I believe)to name just two. I say good for Stephen to share his faith. If others in Hollywood can do it, he shouldn't suffer the consequences for it.
pushing religion
I say that about anyone pushing their beliefs..be it gere, cruise, the pillsbury dough boy..You have beliefs, wonderful, so do I..however, that all changes when you try to push your religion/beliefs on others..More power buddists, scientologists, christians, pagans, hindus, muslims, you name it..just dont try to sway me unless I ask for it..
we now have freedom OF religion for all
you are perfectly free to celebrate whatever holiday you wish to NOW. The majority celebrating Christmas does not diminish that in any way, shape or form.
The only time religion
is when people try to force it down your throat or give you the holier-than-thou attitude of "I'm going to heaven, and you're going to hell."
religion board
How would one access the religion board.
Einstein did not believe in religion.

Organized religion
basically is another club. It ends up being about its own entity and not the spirituality it is supposed to embrace. Christ said basically the same thing when he was on earth.

Maybe you could get the other employees together to voice your feelings and needs to this employer to see if you can prompt some very necessary changes. If not, I would start seriously looking for a healthier work environment.

Remember that it is also not good for the people who take advantage to be allowed to do so (work or personal).

I am so sorry about your friend/co-worker. I hope you can gain strength from this loss to make some changes.
organized religion
Your comment aboput organized religion is off teh subject and snarky.  This person did not die because it was  A CATHOLIC hospital and I for one am tired of this sort of modern day sneering.  I work at a Catholic Hospital.  I absolutely loathe the manager who will not give me a singel Sunday off but she herself is a Catholic and tries to tell me waht church to go to.  She's not a jerk becuase of her religion. She's just a jerk.  Period.  I won't die from stress becuase my life is worth more that 400 lines.  But to make off the wall comments about religion is not ok.
Religion vs. spirituality. sm
Religion is for people who are afraid of going to h*ll. Spirituality is for those who have been there and don't want to ever go back. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

No one who is actively abusing drugs and/or alcohol can have a relationship with Jesus Christ--or with anyone else, for that matter, other than a very dysfunctional one. You must first be clean and sober.

If I'm that much of a sinner, maybe you should just pray for me instead of flaming me here on this message board. Jesus might like that better, who knows? :D
IMO - no. If he hits you once, he will hit you again. It will not matter what religion you believe
x
It is not about religion being a sensitive subject, it is about

posting on the correct forum.  The Main board gets so jammed that we have had to create other forums for particular subjects.  We only ask that posters kindly utilize those forums instead of posting every single thing on the Main board.

Again, thank you.

All religion is a cult of one form or another - nm

Where is the religion board? I need some new spells. nm

The religion issue came at a good time. sm
My daughter is 10.

We're in the car and she wanted to call her friend Jessica on the cell phone.  She said, "It's after 2:00, so they're already home from church."

Then she says, "You know, mama, I don't mind going to church with them, but I hate going up and eating that yucky bread."

I said, "They had you go up for communion?"  and she said, "I think that's what it is.  The guy in the robes puts a yucky cracker thingy in your mouth, but they call it bread for some reason."

So I said, "You don't have to go up and take communion, you're not Catholic.  I could talk to Jessica's parents and tell them that you aren't a Catholic and you shouldn't go up and take communion."

She said, She said, "Well, I'd feel stupid just sitting there when everyone else went up.   I'm not going to go someplace bad if I do the Catholic thing and I'm not really a Catholic am I?"

I said, "Of course not.  You just don't have to that's all."

She said, "It's okay, I don't really mind it that much."  After a few minutes she said:  "Hey wait a minute, we're not JEWISH ARE WE?!!!"

Another half hour on the different faiths and beliefs and the fact that it doesn't matter what you choose, but that it is a private, personal choice, and that one should never try to convince another person that their way of thinking is the "right" way.

She thought it wasn't a good thing not to have a Christmas tree, but then thought that Hannukah was "really cool" because the kids didn't have to wait to open a present.  Then she said, "Well, we could light a candle every night for the Jewish kids because they don't have a Christmas tree and then maybe we could just open a present."

I said, "Nice try kiddo."

Out of the mouths of babes!

In some cases, I think religion is just their latest addiction.
Didn't Stephen Baldwin used to have substance abuse issues? Seems like some of these people just trade in the substance for religion and pursue it with the same enthusiasm.
Hi Eva! Answered here because I don't know which category to go under on the religion board.
The book of Daniel will have a lot of clues about this, but in a nutshell, the wild beast of Revelation is a composite or sum total of the beasts pictured in the book of Daniel. The beasts in the book of Daniel represented the ruling powers, or governments, of the day. The beast of Revelation represents the same today and gets its power from the great dragon, which is Satan (Rev. 13:2, 12:9), so it isn't surprising that the bible calls satan the ruler of the world (John 12:31, 16:11) and the god of this world (2Cor. 4:4). However, at Daniel 2:44 we're told through prophecy that eventually God will bring an end to all human rulership and will begin exercising his rulership over the human family as the one true universal soverign. He will do this through his son, Jesus Christ (Dan. 7:13,14). The Kingdom mentioned in Daniel 7:14 is the same one Jesus taught us to pray for in the model prayer or Lord's prayer. God's will is being done in heaven because he rules there. So, praying for his his kingdom to come and his will to be done on the earth as it is done in heaven is the same as asking him to take over the rulership of the earth, which he will do. However, that will mean an end to all human rulership here on the earth (Rev. 16:14), which is why the beast of Revelation will be destroyed along with the one that gives the beast its power. That destruction will take place in the "battle of the great day of God Almighty," which is referred at Rev. 16:16 as Armageddon. That is the battle over sovereignty, and that is why it is with the governments (or kings) of the earth. All those supporting those kings or governments will have its figurative mark on their hands and/or foreheads showing that they support the beast with their mental energies (mark on their foreheads) and with their actions (mark on their hands). Those supporting the beast and putting their faith in it will be destroyed along with it (Rev. 19:20,21).

In a nutshell.
There are several forums to post on at the Religion link.
I wouldn't call it "fragmented".  The poster can ask his/her question on more than one religion board and receive a variety of responses in which to make an informed decision.
Aren't politics and religion social no-nos? sm
And I believe there is a very good reason for that.

Surprised this did not get yanked to the Religion board - sm
everything else does (get yanked that is)....this board is pretty boring these days. Oh well, I am getting more work done so that is a good thing.
