So Much More

I see this career as so much more than data entry/typing. If it were just data entry/typing, it would not take so much education and experience to become proficient at medical transcription.

I do take pride in what I do. I give the best I can every day I transcribe and on every medical record/document I transcribe.

That said, I do think that we should be paid MUCH more for our skill than we currently are paid on average. I have no idea how to change the perception and raise the pay on a grand scale by myself, so I try to look at what I say about it in my everyday language when communicating with other people.

I never say I "type a report." That is not what I do. I transcribe medical records, medicolegal documents, or health information documents. I never say I "type" an account. I transcribe for a physician/facility, etc. I never just type, and that is truth. . ;) I don't just type, I transcribe.
