So Sorry!

I'm sorry to hear about your poor husband! Also I'm assuming he is gonna need a whole lot of TLC when he gets home from the hospital - while you are going to be trying to make money typing.

You know, if it helps a little, the workmen's comp should be about the same about as his normal 40 hour work week since it won't have taxes taken out of it. I know that's not much help when he was getting lots of OT.

My husband was injured last year and had to have surgery. He was denied comp, had to get a lawyer and we are just now getting to the end of that process. Meanwhile, he had to take retirement early (and we are lucky he was eligible to do that) and we have just about used up all of our "bank" of insurance. He is an Ironworker and the health insurance is paid separately by his employers into his own personal fund. At the beginning of this, he had over 2 year's worth in his "bank". So now he took early retirement to the tune of getting less than the amount he would have gotten, he is almost out of his health insurance and will have to pay it on his own pretty soon, having to take early retirement does not count towards the settlement he will receive (which will make the settlement way, way lower than he would have gotten) and he never wanted to quit work! He loves his work as an ironworker and being a union man and all that stuff! He just had to have another surgery and now his wrist is completely fused so he cannot go back to his work.

I hope things turn out well for your husband and he is able to get back to work and feeling well soon!
