The hospital may simply be CYA-ing, having all this stuff in writing.   Much like the dippy safety labels companies' legal departments require.  'Do not use electric hairdryer in shower."  "Do not swallow" printed on the little moisture absorbing gel pack that comes in a new purse.  The picture on a bucket of a toddler falling in, with the red circle/slash.  That kind of thing.  They hope this prevents them from being sued in the event that someone fries himself in the shower, swallows the gel pack or  their kid drowns in the bucket.
