Sorry, but you are wrong....not familiar with usage of apostrophes?

Posted By: xyz on 2009-02-08
In Reply to: strange wording - mini-haha

It has to be written like this

colon cancer's point of view

to be the colon cancer's point of view. The doctor just made the sentence structure weird.

Regarding the colon cancer, the patient is doing well

would have been better.

apostrophes anyone?
c
you can use apostrophes to emulate quotes.
Two apostrophes = one quotation mark

Like ''this.'' (4 apostrophes total, 2 in front and 2 behind word)

Just a little trick I figured out a long time ago for this board.
wrong, wrong, wrong. work is being outsourced because of $. period. not because of unqualified MTs

Have you maximized your IT usage by
using the compilation and merge glossaries and using the enrich feature?   Start thinking in phrases rather than words, and visit the Production Talk board for more pointers to help maximize your usage of IT.
try splitting LD usage with 2
The last poster was right - it doesn't matter that you are calling in to hear a voice.  Technically you are calling a computer to access that voice file, not actually talking voice-to-voice with someone, which they will say violates the terms and conditions.  You can talk to some supervisor about what you are using it for and maybe can permission to keep using it for MT, but unless you have it explicitly in writing they can still get you at any time by cancelling your LD or (much worse) retroactively charging you.  The magic number for that "alarm" is 5000 minutes a month.  I split my LD with a regular ULD plan and Vonage.  You can't have 2 different LD companies on the same phone line, so you either have to use 1 regular LD and some sort of VoIP (such as Vonage, but there are others), or you have to have 2 different phone lines, each with its separate ULD plan and then split up your phone time between the 2.  It's a headache, I know.
internet usage
I have Comcast and have never heard anything like that.  My internet is basically used 24 hours a day!  I get on at 4:00 AM and work on and off all day, my husband is on when I am not, and when my son gets out of school he is on until about 1:00 in the mornig each day.  I would think that would be excessive if anybody's was...
Hyphen usage in the following
arthroscopic report:  crabmeat-appearing cartilage Yes?  shovel-like basket forceps ?
air card usage
Great that Sprint offers that.  I do know on my account with Verizon there is unlimited usage, unlimited area.  So I guess as well it goes to show that different companies offer different packages and most likely for different areas, depending on competition.  Hope you find one that suits you, but make sure that you get the name, ID# , etc. of every person you talk to.  Makes it a lot easier if you have to go back for whatever reason to them.  Also, Verizon offers an antenna that you can hook to a window with suction cups, etc., so be sure to ask whoever you talk to if they offer any accessories at the time of sign up and if they can throw those in for free.
comma usage
QA is correct; the commas do belong there, and it would be wrong to omit them. The first comma is a series of adjectives; the other comma is to separate two conjoined sentences.
laptop usage
I am considering purchasing a laptop to use mainly outdoors this summer so that my soon to be 4 YO twins can play outside while I am working.  I already have a Verizon air card so that shouldn't be a problem.  There is a place here that sells used laptops and new ones and they are awesome IT folks so I am going to talk with them more about my needs on the tech end.  What I am looking for here is if anyone has any suggestions on a setup of the laptop itself and a separate keyboard and mouse, i.e.  What to sit them on while I am working?   I would like to find something either weatherproof that I may not have to move if it is heavy or something that i could at least roll around to bring back in the garage or something when I am not using it. We have pretty level ground where I will be at.  TIA for any suggestions.  Oh, and have a wonderful summer!
question about computer usage...sm

Hey, y'all!

Do y'all let your kids/husband/family use your work computer when you're not using it? I do, and so far haven't had any problems, but I am just wondering if this is a good idea!

question about computer usage
I let them use it but I am on it so much that they really don't have much of a chance. The kids are in college so have to watch the porn sites. LOL

Sue
I guess that would depend on the usage. sm
I worked with a gal once who literally pounded and stomped her foot pedal. The hospital replaced it twice in 6 months. After the second time, she was told she would have to pay for her own. I'm easy on mine and have had it for 10 years.
Pay for amount of usage -- might not be bad idea
Phone bills used to be like that, -- shows my age. I say sometimes I think it would be nice that those that use the most pay the most,.  I have my cable TV on at the most 2 hours a day and yet I pay the same as those that watch 14 hours a day.  Just like we get paid on the production of work we do, maybe we need to pay for the amount of usage on certain items.
comcast cap on usage official

Also - new vs old Sprint for unlimited usage sm
Any new Sprint accounts as of 11/2008 are subject to the 5GB cap. From what I am understanding, accounts created before then say that they can throttle your speeds, terminate service, or charge overage fees for going over 5GB but so far have not really done so.
sprint limited usage
Do you work more than your 5GM? I just wondered since I am thinking about getting a card. I think Verizon and ATT do the same. My daughter has 5GM on her cable and she went over once, but they did not charge extra.

Thanks a lot.
I see all the postings about phone usage and I'm confused. sm
Are you talking about a long distance service you need to use a C-phone?  Or are they questioning the use of your DSL connection?
Kids at home? What ages and do you limit their internet usage?

We have a 15-year-old that is limited to 1 hour on the internet when school is not in session, and we have parental controls that allow us to see everything she has done while she was on line.

What about your household?

Yeah, I used to years ago but no heavy usage, what killed by brain cells
not getting high. Granted if I had done it a lot, maybe so, but I have 1 good friend who got high every day, she has a Master's degree and is a respected Speech Therapist, though we tease her about her specialty, "swallowing".
OF INTEREST TO ALL TIME WARNER CUSTOMERS...THEY ARE GOING TO START CHARGING FOR USAGE AND NOT A FLAT

This really sucks as the article said it would impact heavy users only.  My cable bill is already high but to be charged for actual using will skyrocket my bill.  I think I could spit nails right now.  I can post the article if anyone is interested.  They said it will be a trial period.  Anyone else use Time Warner?

I typed a report on the wrong patient as the doc keyed in the wrong info, SM
He later said the correct patient's name and I SWEAR to this day I made the changes but somehow the report when through without the correct patient and changes made. I still remember that incident.
Fantasia wrong??? Haven't seen the OP's CD, couldn't have been too wrong.

Exactly! Because you got familiar with VR....
It is difficult to switch from stRaight to editing, Back an forth, back and forth, this is so TRUE!

And all the various accounts with the different clients' specifics.
Not familiar with a dropdown box . . .
Are you referring to F9 to get line count?
If you are familiar with this forum at all
then you should have enough insight to realize that posting such vague information without any shred of credibility will get you a less-than-desired response.

Either way, even if it IS true - what kind of friend shares such an important secret? What kind of employee leaks information?

Hmm...sounds familiar sm
Is this company out of Texas, perhaps.
Sounds familiar.
Feast or famine.

I'm drowning in paper. I have piles everywhere, including my bedroom floor and dresser. I used to be very organized and couldn't stand clutter, I don't know what happened. I live with three other "messies", husband and two of three children. I think I just gave up. I usually can find things, but it bugs me a lot. Can't seem to get myself to clean it up. This has a psychological basis I'm sure. I'm not lazy, otherwise I keep a really neat, clean house. Stressed out maybe the reason, just don't know where to start first when I do have some time to myself. It's always something.
sounds so familiar!!
I guess most office atmospheres are like that...it sounds so similar to what I had worked with until I went home...and boy am I glad I did!!! I am a social person, but absolutely do not miss the office crud!!! Now I have been doing home repairs and "fixing" up my new "office" as well as getting out a couple of nights a week. Also spending more time focusing on my needs, i.e. pampering myself more!
We are attracted to what is familiar to us
Womanizers, alcoholics, workaholics, rage-aholics...if our dad was one, there seems to be a good chance we find ourselves married to a replica of him. At 48, I decided just to be alone as every man I found myself with was a psycholoanalysts' worst nightmare (these men rarely seek help and rarely change in my observation).
Anyone familiar with FTP Navigator?
I downloaded version 7.0 but now what?  I got the files I wanted but they open in notepad.  Is this right?  Are they now in my PC and can I view them in a word processing program?  Thanks.
Not familiar with SIM message, however,
I have found that if I am persistent and patient with their customer service line, eventually I will get through and get an answer to my question/problem.  There is a yahoo group for tracfone users and I have found them to be very helpful also, especially with codes for more minutes, etc.  Someone there is probaby familiar with that SIM message.  Hope this helps.
Websense - anyone familiar with?
Something called Websense has decided it is my own personal internet sentinel and blocks various websites.  I don't know who/what this is and I have not authorized it to do so.  Anyone know anything about it?  How to get rid of it or shut it off?
Sorry.. I am not familiar w/ExText

Thought maybe it had its own shortcut program.

Also, not familiar w/ Vonage, but ..sm
If there is any kind of option for pulse vs. tone dialing. If Vonage is set up for pulse dialing, it might be that the station isn't recognizing the ID # when you enter it. That's a longshot, since most are now all set to tone by default, but it's an idea.
Anyone familiar with Olympus DS-30?

I need to find digital recorders for a few doctors.  I am looking at the DS 30, but want to make sure its a decent recorder, but don't want to spend too much $$.  They want to email me the digital files--so I was wondering if this recorder is pretty easy to use/set up?

Thanks for any info

Sounds familiar...
There's that 7 years again, me too. Would agree with much you say. Are you elsewhere now and do you like it?
Thanks for the info! So is anyone familiar with... SM

VoIP companies called Phone Power or ITP?  I've decided against Magic Jack because of the problems.  I did some research and found the two above companies were pretty reasonable or maybe I should just stick with Vonage?

MRT Services - anyone familiar with them?
Anyone ever heard of MRT Services? I saw them online. Please provide feedback.
Sounds familiar only.....
once in a while if I fall asleep watching TV, I dream I'm trying to transcribe everything that's being said. Only problem with that....you can't backspace or fast forward. Now that's frustrating!
Uh oh! Sounds familiar. I have an 11yo too. sm

She is my 4th out of 4 and, believe me, times have really changed over the years.

Some of these 5th grade girls come to class all made up, tight jeans, etc., and their parents ALLOW it!  One of my daughter's classmates has cable TV in her bedroom and can watch MTV and horror movies, etc. AND she has her own cell phone!  That's just plain nuts.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but when I hear, "well Susie gets to do this and that," I say, "You're not Susie and you know the rules."  Sure she'll experiment. My older kids did, but they knew in their hearts I didn't approve.

One thing I did do was yank the cable.  Oh pity, too bad, you don't get to watch garbage on TV now do you?  I'm such a MEAN MOMMY.

My 23-year-old daughter pulled a ton of stuff on me growing up and now she's a mom.  You should hear her talk about setting curfews, etc.  I'm like, "Uh, you have a good 6 months before potty training yet."

the tone of your post is so familiar
If you somehow follow my other posts, which are mostly just vents, and why you are following them so closely?  Who are you???
Was thinking yousendit.com. Anyone familiar with

Landmark Transcription--anyone familiar with them

I currently work for xxxxx, but recently saw an ad for Landmark Transcription that sounded interesting.  Anyone have experience with this company or know their protocols?

Edited to remove current place of employment.  BuckeyeLil (Moderator)

Sounds familiar. I have a friend with a son who is now
a year behind where he should be because they fell for some private school cock and bull story about how he wasn't ready for kindergarten (the school was ready, however, to milk her for another year of preschool, I'm quite sure).  So here's this kid now, a sophomore in high school and turning 17 in August. All for no reason, there wasn't a thing wrong with him.
Anyone familiar with Chartscript & ease of use? Tx--NM

SOS-familiar w/Cphone DA-127D?

It's crunch time - I am using TranscriptionGear Model DA-127D for first time (replacement after demise of Dictaphone C-phone) and do not have instruction manual.  I've navigated through a report and need help with the following:  Everytime I take my foot off the pedal, I get the recorded "To sign off you must be at the end of the report."    Then, when I actually got to the end of the report, it signed off automatically with the foot pedal.    I must sign reports off manually on this acct.     Any help would be greatly appreciated.  TIA.

Am wondering if anyone is familiar with Cryptoheaven

I have a new account that I'll be using this for and am wondering if it is hard to teach an office to use.  I've used it before as an IC and loved it.

Do I need to go down to the office or can it be done over the net.

eClinical software - anyone familiar with this?
I work from my home office. I had a doc call today and say he needs an MT, but his office uses a software program called eClinical, so he thought it would have to be done onsite. He said the HPI is the only thing that is really transcribed, that the review of systems, PE, etc., is just checking boxes, and then ICD-9 codes have to be entered for x-rays and such for it to be billed properly. Is anyone familiar with eClinical? Is there any way to access it remotely? How would I even bill for this if the HPI is the only part transcribed and the rest is checking boxes/data entry? I really don't want to go and work onsite. I'm just bummed because he's the first potential client of my own, and instead of being technologically challenged like so many docs and still using tapes, he's technologically advanced! If anybody has any info on this software program, I would really appreciate your input!
