Thanks for your replies and ideas on how to handle it the next time it is thrown my way.  C&T MT, I've had that same problem that you described as well.  It chaps my ears when people will call and get mad because they know I "work at home" and will sit there and leave messages like they are talking to me on the phone because I don't answer the phone.  They are like "pick up the phone."  That's what the answering machine is for.  I'm not trying to be rude about it; it just takes time away if I have to go through the hellos and such.  I've even had a person who thought that I just got up and "logged in" on my computer and got paid for the rest of the day.  Anytime I have to defend my job and how hard I work just makes it seem harder.  I am the sole support for myself and my husband (who is disabled and awaiting a hearing and has been fighting this for six years), so it's literally all on me and has been for a long time to make the dough.  I've even been "made fun of" in not so many words by members of my family for working all the time.  I'm glad I have a work ethic and can provide for my family.  If I was working outside the home, I would probably have two jobs to pay for everything, and those jobs are few and far between these days.

I like my job; there are bad days and easy days, (that's why it's called a J-O-B), but I wouldn't trade it for anything outside the home.  If I'm a hermit, okay.  I'm a working hermit.  I'm productive.

I work really hard and it's a downer to me when I either have to defend liking my job at home or proving that I really just don't sit here and do whatever I want all day and collect a paycheck.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has to deal with this, and I appreciate your replies on how to handle it the next time I have to deal with it.

Have a great day!
