That's why I am so unsure of which way this field is heading. On one hand in this field you hear that we should become certified, join meetings, encourage and support transcription education, push for rights, etc. Then on the other hand we don't make enough to pay dues, buy books to study for tests, pay for further education, HIPAA, etc.
Doctors offices don't see us as professionals, just typists. MTSOs are just trying to make a living. Was an MTSO but quit because of this. Glad my MTSO was able to make the sacrifice, but hubby tells me all the time that as many years as I've spent in the field I should ask for what I think I'm worth. Wish others would that too.
