    Patience. (SM)
I do not live on this board 24/7. You made some good points in your post above and I will review posts later today as I have time.

    Patience
I have worked for Med-Tech in Marietta  for 5 years.  The only time I had a problem with not receiving a check was due to a postal problem.  I know they put the check in the mail but the post office screwed up.  Also, they pay on the 1st and the 15th.
    patience
Like the previous poster said, make a folder with all your QA corrections. When you get a contradiction, send those to the person in charge and ask which is correct. That's about all you can do at this point.

nothing to do with patience or impatience...
it's all about a "war against terrorism."  Go get the terroists! not invade a country that had absolutely nothing to do with it.. Now he has a huge problem with terroists in Iraq because he HELPED make more terrorists with a breeding ground and "practice" for wannabe terroists.  He could not have HELPED the terrorists more than he did when HE INVADED IRAQ!  "War on terrorism?"  Now, when we get hit again, and we WILL, our troops will be Iraq.  Leadership?  No.  Idiotcy? Yes!  Nothing to do with patience or impatience.  It is all about leadership, or the lack thereof!  But you people voted for him because of "religious" values.  How religious is it to kill thousands of innocent women and children for NO REASON?  Now he, and we, are in HUGE MESS, and he doesn't have a clue as to what to do next!
You must truly have the patience of a saint.

No one's paid to provide help here and posting links can be time-consuming. I was on my way to post when I saw the comment and almost said "forget it." However, here are some links for you.

I have no patience for the condescending posts!
I've been lurking here for over a year and I'm amazed how nasty, consdescending and judgemental these people can be! Just like I don't do well with an employer treating me like crap, I don't do well with being "talked down to" by the rude posters on this board.
patience prudence..keep notes and continue to try.

Have patience!! Its a brand new program for at home
MTs, and I'm sure the Board of Directors or suits of whatever title are wanting some proof that the at-home MTs are to be trusted. Perhaps in a couple of months, once they know who they can trust to work and who not, the program won't be implemented as strictly as at the start. Sadly, while you may be a conscientious, trustworthy MT, many are not, particularly in house hospital MTs. Been there, done that! Sounds like a good change for you! Good luck!
Sending good karma and patience your way...

Prizes are awarded the next business day. Thank you for your patience!

YAY!!! YAY!!! YAY!!! Good things happen to those who have the patience (I am not one of them)!!!

Personally I dont ridicule, but have no patience

Just saying "It is too hard to change" and "the company is making me poor/homeless/stressed etc is a cop-out. Get proactive and help yourself. And those that do play into the poor victim routine do not help fellow MTs, they just perpetuate the idea that MTs can do nothing to help their own situation.

Patience is part of being a good MT. Do your own footwork. You won't regret it. nm

People have no patience anymore. I gave a $10.00 donation and I got an email the next evening.

I think since these people also have a transcription service, no one should expect an instant response.  Besides, it's more about giving than getting anyway.

    the results
Well, it seems that there is a fairly even distribution of MTs amongst many age groups. I did not expect there to be so many younger MTs. Thanks you for your replies.
    lab results
Any good websites for ranges of lab results?  Thanks for any info...
    lab results
    Thanks so much!!
I use OpenOffice with the same results. sm
I do the same thing in open office. I cut and paste every report into one document, check character count, and divide by 65. It always comes out close, in my favor.

I think the reason it comes out with more than what DQS does is because we do get paid for any demographics we have to type in ourselves, like dates, or if the demos don't import.

But I still have trouble doing the lines I did before DQS.
    very pleased with results (sm)
I had never heard of it until I read it on the post a few days ago. Finally got around to trying it last night. Felt great. I made the mistake of using too much water at first too but then I tried again with just a tiny bit of water and used a cotton ball to apply. Awesome. I was pretty sold on the Mary Kay Microdermabrasion which I use about once a week. Now I may not restock on that product and it is not cheap. I bought the store brand aspirin and it worked great. Thanks to the person who brought it to this message board.
    Research results
I checked on finasteride, and unfortunately it does not have great results for male acne. And it occasionally causes gynecomastia. BUT, here is a link to a cystic acne heater device:

    Good results! sm
Just a fluid/material filled cyst but still need to see oncologist this week. The mammo didn't hurt at all. I thought it was going to be horrible but I found it to be less pressure than a BP cuff. All in all, it was a very positive experience. My only beef is that I was a diagnostic and not a screening, I didn't get a candy bar and a card! Thanks for all your good thoughts.
    MRI results-does this sound right?

TESTS:  MRI results show the low back has degenerative changes, L4-L5; disk material and facets that lie adjacent to the descending left L5 nerve root without definitive compression.  The MRI of his surgical spine shows grade 1 anterolisthesis of C5 on C6 and C6 on C7 with disk osteophytes posteriorly.  There is flattening of the cord at these levels.

    Testing results

I just tested with one of the nationals. I have never before had to do this and did receive the results (97%). Does anyone know if this includes the objective portion or only the transcribed reports?

    Thanks for your input.

    They only show the results

of the most successful ones.  I had some reconstructive surgery once and was shown a book of people who this plastic surgeon had worked on.  Later, when I was being fit for a prosthesis, that person showed me pictures. She told me then.  My picture was never part of the portfolio of those which were the "wow, what a difference group."

If they showed you pictures of what you probably would look like (with the difference being minimal), they would lose a lot of business because you wouldn't bother spending the money for something that even when people know you had something done, they can't even tell.

just got an e/m re lack of work
which we seldom have, but stating that we are all 'one team' and if we want more work we can call in and they can route us work from another CSC. So i wonder why other offices aren't doing that...
    lack of work

Are names of companies allowed on this board?  I'm in the middle of applying to several transcription services, so would really like to know which one (s) don't have enough work available.

Seriously could not be any worse that the lack of (sm)
respect we get as CMTs!! Seriously, we catch all the malpractic, flag it for them, and not even a Happy Holidays! dictated to us on any dictation, I correct that one doctor did say enjoy your holidays! I agree Applebees is looking better all the time!
    Lack of memorization
Is the attraction for me! I can't keep what I have straight. And when I have multiple phrases that I want to use the same short for, it's just frustrating!

    Thanks for your reply.
    appreciation (or lack there of)
One thing I have learned is that not many people understand this working at home gig.  I will say though that after I have let my kids listen to a few of these dictations they are totally amazed and over the years I have helped them with the words to quite a few songs they couldn't understand.  One daughter is now a pharmacist and she is totally amazed at what I can understand.  My son-in-law, also a pharmacist, asked if he could let me listen to the voice mail from ESL's that call in prescriptions and he cannot understand.  My sister and brother-in-law are doctors, so they appreciate my talent and work ethic.  However, just today my second daughter got mad at me because I told her I could not watch her boyfriend's new puppy (not housebroken) and work at the same time.  I have been doing this at home for over 10 years now, so they have grown up with it, and still don't always get it.  I left a hospital job after a divorce because I was never around when the kids needed me and it was difficult to leave work for emergencies.  I made double the income - at first with no benefits.  I miss the retirement, but I wouldn't have been able to keep my house, so everything is a trade off.  Only we can understand each other
I think some of that is due to lack of training as well-
why not train Americans who are displaced workers or unable to find work for whatever reason, or just Americans who have no skills and are working 3 minimum wage jobs to get by? It would probably not cost any more than bringing in people from other countries, and it would probably save the government money, as more people would become self-sufficient and require less assistance.

I think a lot of these people would love the opportunity for the training if it didn't cost an arm and a leg, and I don't think they would be picky about what it paid- I'm sure it would beat minimum wage!
    Lack of communication?

I recently was hired for a national MTSO and was wondering if this was typical for most companies who hire you as an employee.  They train you, tell you who your supervisor is, turn you loose on your account, and after that you are hard pressed to get in contact with your supervisor, or anyone for that matter, for questions.  I had questions about:

    1) how to fill out my timesheet, a) when to submit it, b) how the pay period runs - all I got was a sample copy and told to submit it on such-and-such day.

    2) questions on formatting that were not in the AI sheet - no response either by E-mail, IM and lack of contact phone number other than the 1-800 office number.

    3) Two days into the job - ran out of work on both primary and back-up account.  Response - "sorry, we're just slow." and not by my supervisor, by another company associate as my supervisor was nowhere to be found.  Never heard from the supervisor again.  Haven't bothered to log back in to work.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and is it typical.  Do not want to mention the MTSO, but it is a well-known national.

    frustrated.

    lack of work
Has anyone had a lack of work in the company they work for. I have been without work for two weeks and keep getting the run around from my company. I was wondering if anyone had to collect unemployment benefits or if there was something else I could do. thanks
    Lack of work

I also did not have any work due to President's Day.

I am very frustated, No work due to Thanksgiving initially, then Christmas, New Years, and now President's Day? (Not to mention lack of work due to blizzards etc.)

I like the company I am with, supervisors etc. but am wondering if it is going to improve.  I was promised paid health insurance, but have not yet reached the line count. How is it possible with any work?

    Any feedback appreciated. Thank you.

I don't think it is a lack of funds
I really think they are just ticked off that I quit so quickly. But after many years of doing this, 70 lph just doesn't work for me. Account was great, it was the administrative stuff required that killed the job.
    My lack of experience...
I was told today by a national transcription company that "due to my lack of experience in the last eight years...." that I was unqualified to work for them as they need people with recent acute care status.  I have worked for a group of orthopaedic surgeons for eight years and went to work for them because my job at the hospital was phased out due to outsourcing.  I have 36 years of experience as a Transcriptionist and all but the last eight were in a hospital setting.  I am shocked to find out that I do not qualify for their company.  The work at our clinic is dwindling and even though they are hiring three new docs this coming year, none of them are going to be allowed to dictate as they will be required to use the EMR only.  All of us sit by our desks waiting for that next job to show up and hopefully if you are lucky enough, you are the one who grabs it first.  I used to work every evening and weekend.  That has happened in the last five months.  Sorry for the venting.  It has been a tough struggle with a laid off husband, one income, and 10 grandkids to shop for, for the holidays.
    Guaranteed positive results.

It seems people everywhere are looking for positivity - especially in light of the Katrina disaster, on top of the 9/11 anniversary, the Iraq war, tensions in every aspect of our life.  I'm going to share a personal mantra of mine that has helped me in the past, is soothing me now, and will greatly benefit me in the future as well.

Fasting can be looked at in different ways.  Most of the time, we think of it purely toward food and most of the time associate it with religion.  Fasting, however, is really a drawing back, holding back, purposefully now allowing full satisfaction.  You can do this in any and all aspects of your life.  Fasting as a way of life can change your life -- it has mine.

By not allowing myself to fully satisfy whatever aspect I am engaging, I make room for personal growth and fulfillment from that innate resource of the soul.  I recognize God as my maker, my Father, my Savior.  Some recognize other forms of higher power.  I can speak from MY experience, my beliefs, that fasting in areas of your life as a way of living will grant Him room to give you satisfaction and fulfillment beyond what you could have achieved without it.

You can fast with money -- don't buy everything you want to with the last $5 in your hand, give it away.  Give it to some worthy cause.  Give it to church.  Buy diapers or food for a local shelter.  Don't take all your money for just yourself.

You can fast with time -- give 30 minutes a week to read stories to children at the library, to visit a nursing home and play checkers or just talk and hold the hands of people who have no control over their fate, or volunteer with CASA or a battered women's shelter, or even a school to help with room mothers or watch traffic at the high school, etc.  Don't take all your time for just yourself.

You can fast with your intellect -- give an hour a week to work on changing a problem in your community, your state, your local government, your school district, this nation, this world.  Use your mind and determine a value really close to your heart and then use your intellect to understand where you can help and do so.  Don't take all your intellectual energy for just yourself.

You can fast spiritually -- give an hour or two a week in prayer for simply thanks.  It takes the focus off YOU.  It puts it on OTHERS.  It directs your attention away from what you are inundated with all the time.  Don't take all your prayer time for just yourself.

Of course, you can fast with food as well.  Wednesdays are the middle of the work week and perhaps you could do a juice fast (only juice/water) for the day, or fast from something you usually indulge in, or just simply decide to always leave food uneaten on your plate every meal.  Do it with the remembrance of the millions who die every single day from not having food to eat.  Do it to recognize that we have it all right here in our own backyard.  Do it to recognize the choice you have of whether you WANT to eat, what you want to eat, how much you want, etc.  Maybe you will fast a meal and send the makings of one to a shelter or to a family in need.  Don't take all the food just for yourself.

The list can go on and on and on.  It truly works.  You can start really really small and if you want to increase what you are enjoying, you've a base to start on.  Start with $5 a payperiod to invest in others; 30 minutes a week to give to others; 30 minutes a week studying and working toward resolution of a problem in your world somewhere; 30 minutes a week of prayer for others; a meal a week for others.

Trust me, it is a different type of sacrifice.  One that only offers positive results and they are guaranteed for everyone.

    Guaranteed positive results
Thank you for such a wonderful post. I know that this is true. I've tried and have been successful in teaching my children that it is important to give and help others but I find myself slacking in these areas recently. With my health problems I feel I have been mired down in self-pity but with your post to remind me what it's all about, perhaps I will be able to get back on track. Thank you again - your post has been a blessing.
You will definately see great results
within a week or two.  It's a great workout, easy, and definately will give you results.  Stick with it and you will be very pleased.  I love pilates
    American Idol Results.....SOON

The results are in............who is leaving American Idol tonight?  We will know in about 30 minutes from now.  My feeling is that either Kevin or Kellie are going home tonight......I like Kellie, but she really doesn't have the voice like the others, and Kevin, well, he speaks for himself - CHICKEN LITTLE - LOLOLOLOL!

I see it coming down to Chris and Kathryn!!!!!!!!

    Preliminary good results...sm
Mammo and ultrasound were clear as of when I left the hospital an hour ago.  Already had an appointment set up with the specialist and they wanted me to keep that.  So we'll see what he has to say on Thursday.  Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone.
And just a suggestion, next time don't get results yourself
and wait until you see the doctor. Good luck!
Congrats!!! Did you not get your results instantly like with the CMT?
