The bigotry I see claimed is not that but

when people start making generalizations about people's cleanliness or illegality. It's a huge jump from talking about illegal immigrants to assuming the Hispanic people you see are Mexicans, aliens, or dirty.

Sure, some of them are, but some of them aren't and anytime you make assumptions about a group of people, you are being prejudiced. That's what I saw the other day on this board, and that's what was called out.

I never claimed to be the "A"...

Of course not all textbooks are the same.  However, to claim all the arbitrary grammar guideline changes evident in the BOS are now patent rules of grammar is quite foolish.  I also doubt very seriously that any textbook is based on the BOS.

Do we all remember the so-called "new math?"  Look what is now happening across the nation.  The trend is back to basic math, and it is now beginning to be taught the "old" way once again, mainly because our country's students have been struggling to understand even basic concepts.

Newer is definitely not always better.  So, you think the BOS is *the* authority?  I will never agree with that precept, and neither will the majority of MTs, healthcare providers, educators or even the public in general.

Never claimed
Not once did I say y'all were uneducated. IN fact, quite the opposite. My initial post was asking about training and what this field was all about, what did experienced MTs suggest.

I absolutely believe without a doubt I could do your job as an MT if I decided to go for it. No doubt. I absolutely have little doubt you could NOT do mine. Otherwise, you would be looking to do MT as a part time job for extra cash because your full time day job was already fulfilling.

No, you were bashing. You were rude and insulting to a harmless post asking for suggestions on how to get into the field. Don't try to change it now.
Outsourcing saves less than claimed
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060413/tc_nm/outsourcing_dc_1

Is this really a surprise to any of us?...

Thu Apr 13, 4:32 AM ET

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Outsourcing of information technology and business services delivers average cost savings of 15 percent, a survey found on Thursday, disproving market claims that outsourcing can reduce costs by over 60 percent.

After professional fees, severance pay and governance costs, savings range between 10 percent and 39 percent, with the average level at 15 percent when contracts are first let, according to outsourcing advisory firm TPI.

"This research proves that the promise of massive operational savings is unrealistic when you take into account the costs of procurement and ongoing contract management," Duncan Aitchison, TPI's managing director, said in a statement.

"In our experience, outsourcing arrangements which focus solely on delivering huge savings often fail to meet client expectations," he added.

Cost reduction remains the primary motivation behind current outsourcing contracts, but an increasing number of companies are outsourcing primarily to improve quality, at 21 percent now versus 11 percent in 2004.

The first three months of 2006 had the largest number of outsourcing contracts ever signed in the first quarter of a year. TPI found that 83 contracts were signed, valued globally at over 18 billion euros ($21.9 billion), compared with 76 deals worth just over 13 billion euros over the same period last year.

IBM, EDS and T-Systems were the main beneficiaries of contracts let in the first quarter of 2006, winning total contract values of 3.7 billion euros, 3.6 billion euros and 1.1 billion euros, respectively.

The pipeline of deals on which TPI is currently advising is led by EDS, IBM and CSC, which are competing for deals totaling 6.4 billion euros, 6 billion and 4 billion, respectively, it added.

I read about that, Comcast claimed they used too much bandwidth, but SM
it is supposed to be unlimited.
I never claimed to be great or perfect, I am just sick of the whining.
All we hear is "we need to discuss, we need to talk, we need to figure out what to do."  I have offered some suggestions of what you might try to pull yourselves out of the mire, since you can't seem to think of any suggestions yourselves.  The collective whining is getting you nowhere.  How many times do you think you need to whine "poor me" before the situation changes itself?  I hate to tell you, but no amount of whining is going to change your plight, only action on your part will do that.  Anyway, bottom line is, whine all you want together, just take it to a blog so we don't have to be subjected to it.
How is bigotry not a sin?
"The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose." -William Shakespeare

What your bible defines as sin is not my problem. Live as you feel is right, I will do the same.

If you have to resort to the supernatural to justify your views, your views might need closer scrutiny.
bigotry
I am not referring to ALL Mexicans. There are some (few) who are legal citizens of the US, and they work and make a good living for themselves and do not want handouts. But they are also legal. As far as the illegal ones go good luck finding a decent, well groomed, good hygiene one who is illegal. Alot of them are thieves also. Personal experience with this first hand. I know.
bigotry
Look I was one of the posts speaking about illegals. I am sorry to offend anyone. But you have to admit some of the illegals here are not up to par on their hygiene. Maybe my area is different but most in my area suffer from this problem. I am sorry to offend anyone but it is true. Now let me make something VERY clear. There is a difference between ILLEGAL Mexicans and LEGAL CITIZENS who are Mexicans. There is a big difference. The legal Mexicans are usually clean, well mannered, good English speaking people. They have normal jobs and want nothing but to be like us. They went about doing things the right way. They came here because they wanted to be American. They make every effort to be American. But now I am sorry it is the illegal ones and I don't know why but they snuck over in an illegal way. They act like they have no interest in learning our culture or our language except enough to get by. And I don't have to assume if some of them don't practice good hygiene because it is obvious because you see it and you smell it. It isn't something you assume at all. I am not making assumptions I am stating facts from what is seen.
Bigotry within AAMT
Hey, HIVer--I can top--or at least equal that. About that same time frame, early nineties, I was in AAMT. They sent pictures of people running for the board of directors. I called to ask them why no people of color were there. The reply of the snotty AAMT representative was "No person of color is qualified to sit on our board." So folks, there is a very well-disguised but very real veneer of bigotry in AAMT. These are not nice people.
Hate is hate and bigotry is bigotry.
Whether it is towards blacks, gays, people with blue eyes, etc...
ESL is not code for bigotry. It is used in my SM
community of SoFla. There are ESOL classes in school and English classes for ESL adults. These are listed as ESL! There are references to ESL all over and there is nothing bigotted about it. It is not a "code" for bigotry, at least in SoFla. I don't know about the rest of the US.

I have already stated, I don't mind ESL doctors. As someone else pointed out, they know they have an accent and tend to speak very clearly.
And you will have to answer to your hate and bigotry some day.
Now I'm off to recruit some young boys into My Lifestyle, as you say. Gee, I thot MQ was the clueless ones!
Disagree. ESL is just what it is. Bigotry term

their own issue. A lot of people claim bigotry to

not my point, actually. My point was the bigotry is the same.
The bigotry's always there. Not all "Mexicans" are Mexican, nor are they all illegal. My point is, though, people used to make remarks about cabbage smell about the Irish just like comments are made now about how nasty Mexicans are.

Every time somebody says something about "those people," something bigoted is coming out. That's all I'm saying.
