10 cents a line, 350 lph sounds pretty good to me!
I've got 30 years experience and I've not found to setup you have..Be very careful about changing. I've been looking for over a year and not found anything close to what you say you have. I've also worked for a company for over a year now and still get doctors whom I have never transcribed before.. almost on a nightly basis!
The line rate sounds pretty good compared to other places - by "punch the clock", you mean
it really is not a flexible schedule, even for an IC? That's what I need the most.
Offer 1 week notice, but willing to offer 2 if they would be in a bind. Also, (sm)
make sure your resignation letter is written with class.  Never good to burn your bridges.
I think all state labor laws are pretty much in line with the federal laws as far as PTO SM

among other things.  Basically, federal law states that an employer is not required to offer paid time off or paid holidays.  An employer doesn't have to pay you for time not worked.  It states quite clearly that PTO is an agreement between the employer and employee upon hire.  So, if you have an agreement with your employer stating you accrue PTO and get certain Holidays off with pay, then upon termination or resignation, you are entitled to any unused time you have accrued.  However, since not mandated by any state or federal laws, if an employer refuses to pay you for any unused PTO, you will have to take legal action, likely in small claims court.  You will probably eventually win, but you have to decide is it worth all the trouble and legal fees?

When you actually get right down to it, labor laws really don't do much for the working class.  We are not guaranteed anything except minimum wage and a safe work environment.

I think I'm pretty bright and pretty good, too, but
I am not a CMT. I am a medical transcriptionist who enjoys her job very much (most days). I have chosen not to pursue certification simply because I cannot afford to do so. I believe the certification is a nice thing to have, but I don't believe it is necessary for employment or for excellence in my job. If you can afford it, go for it. If you can't, don't feel too bad. You can still take pride in and do a very good job without it.
ok.... Here it is... in full and complete.
Suicide Brownies

1 - 19-21 oz. pkg. fudge brownie mix.
1 - 10-12 oz. pkg. white choc. pieces.
1 C. semisweet chocolate pieces.
1/2 C. pecan pieces

Sauce
1/4 C. melted butter (not margarine or spread)
3 Tbsp. hot water
2 C sifted powdered sugar
1/4 C unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp real vanilla
3/4 cup pecan pieces (for topping)

Grease 13 x 9 pan. Make brownie mix according to box directions but add in half of the white choc. pieces and the 1/2 C. pecans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes till center sets. Sprinkle with remaining white choc. pieces and return to oven for one minute. Let cool.

Combine melted butter and hot water. Add powdered sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla. Beat by hand until smooth. Spoon over top of brownies. Add 3/4 cup of pecans. Cool 1-1/2 hours or until sauce sets. Cut into squares.
Yep, I'm a complete tool like that.

I thought as I aged I would grow cojones...the problem is, we moved up here and it's just so far away from friends and family, that when company does show up, planned or not, it is truly a blessing.  I am incredibly lonely up here, and as I work out of a home in a land where I don't know ANYONE except my immediate neighbors, friends have not been easy to make and, well, you can see why I have so many postings on this board.

So, I guess I'll continue to treat people as I wish to be treated...with a big hug, a warm smile, and a "I'm so glad you were able to stop by"...and then stress out and drink black coffee laced with 1/4 pound of suger catching up on work while they sleep soundly.  I only got this one life, so I might as well try to squeeze everything into it with at least a calm and cool outer appearance    ;-)

EMR just means they are going to complete
EMR is electronic medical record, meaning it's all on the computer, without a paper record. Why does that eliminate the need for a transcriptionist?
Complete was of my time...
But I had entered a webpage trying to land accounts. No luck WSE! IMO. Good luck.
Wow, the complete series!! (sm)
You'll be busy for days!  I'd love it too, cause there are some I missed, but I figured I will rent one season at a time, or buy it if I can find a good price.  Never shopped on ebay before.  Happy viewing!!
Once you complete your training
you will have a an idea of what types of reports you have an affinity for. Some folks like acute care, others clinic work. There are those that adore radiology and detest long ops or sub-speciality consults that may require a lot of research and verification. Others feel just the opposite.

As far as software, I am not really sure what you mean. There are different requirements for different companies as far as platforms, etc. Every one has its pros and cons.
As for as reference materials, some folks like electronic references and some prefer books. Others use reliable web resources.

You will want to avoid any convoluted line counting methods to assure fair compensation and be aware of exactly what you do and don't get compensated for, but that kind of falls into the getting ripped off category.
Before he turned into a complete idiot.
I haven't seen any of his recent movies since he split with Nicole Kidman.  Of course, I saw "Days of Thunder" and "Far and Away".  Read the whole post, then try taking an English comprehension course.  Troll.

I would think complete darkness would be a bad idea.
Funny you should mention this because last night my son walked into the living room and turned off the light while I was working. He said he wanted it off while watching TV.

At first I felt like I couldn't see anything. After a few minutes, my eyes adjusted, but I had to turn the light back on because the brightness of the monitor compared to the darkness of the rest of the room actually began to hurt my eyes.

I guess it doesn't bother some, but I would think it wouldn't be very good for your eyes over time.
I do believe the JC is only concerned with files being complete as in
up to date - not gramatically correct.

ASR isn't successful? Its like 100% a complete success! Are you kidding?

MQs speech rec technology is sweeping the industry. Just run a Google, dear poster, and get your facts even remotely straight before you post!  Radiology speech rec is a HUGE success, as well as their acute care. What planet have you been living on? It needed perfecting, and, well....Its nearly there! Post facts if you must - much better than completely false ignorant claims.

Well, some accounts call for complete sentences for all. sm

Other accounts call for no abbreviations, spell out everything.  So, if the account specifics call for it, the MT is to do it.  It is not always the MT or MTSO.

No, I'm afraid I'm a complete and utter dork...

And the really dorky thing is - I graduated from hi school in 1976 - I'm not even IN the "60's generation." If loving the Beatles makes me a dork, then, well - just call me Captain Dork!

Peace out, dude.

That Escription is even close to accurate is complete and total

YES, your email has COMPLETE protection on this site. We have worked VERY hard to make sure
that e-mail addresses are protected.  Spheris did not glean your email address from this site.  In the meantime, if you enter your email address in the E-mail field, you can be emailed, but the sender cannot see your email address.  They have no idea WHAT your email address is.  ONLY if YOU reply to them will the sender then find out what it is.  If you have further questions, email me and we'll discuss it.
A gross line is anything on a line is a line. A line set at 65 characters means it sm
has 1-inch margins on each side. The maximum number of characters on that line would be 65 and that includes spaces. If there is 1 character on that line it is a line.

A standard 65-character line usually consists of 65 characters with spaces unless, of course, the employer does not pay for spaces and then it would be 65-characters without spaces.
Anything on the line makes up a line even if just one letter or number. Every line of print is a
