There's more to being an IC than

Getting a client is only the first step. After that be prepared to give up your vacations, family time and whatever it takes to make sure that your client is happy. Too many MTs think that being their own boss is about setting their own hours, limits, etc. and nothing could be further from the truth. Your first job is to make sure the work is always accurate, always on time and that the customer is always happy, which is also true for the MT working for someone else but that seems to be a lost value anymore as reflected in many of the recent posts.

  • Longevity as an MT doesn't mean a higher wage. Lots of us out here still earning less - than we want due to many factors. nm
