Typical bleeding heart everybody is a victim mentality, except of course...
those who are smart enough to not get pregnant at 14, finish school, work hard, and pay for  and provide for themselves.  Then they are villified by YOU for not wanting to just give it all away to those who have NOT made good choices for themselves in this infinite land of opportunity that we live  in, the same country where  people around the world are knocking on the doors to get into, and HAVE  come here and taken advantage of the opportunity here.  Opportunity doesn't mean it's handed to you.  Sick, young, old, down on luck, or having a rough spell is one thing, but a lifetime of mooching is something else.  There IS a difference.  But that shades of gray world you live in doesn't allow you to see with any clarity.
Why is it only liberals who...
Dont worry. The future for all poor transcriptionists who work for a living, demos and repubs both, will be truly sucky. I think that is reality, not politics. Look at the way the transcription companies are going.

    stop with the moronic stereotypes!

The only ones LIVING OFF THE TAX-PAYERS are the pariah's in Congress and in the GRAYHOUSE.

Spend a little more time doing your homework and a little less listening the babysitters on the right: LIMBAUGH, hannity, et AL ad nauseam
Yep, liberals work really hard blaming others for their lack of ambition
    It's all YOUR fault!
Further bleeding per Dr. **** will affect a hysterectomy.

Well I DID have bleeding with my ectopic pregnancy in August, so it is possible.
An early ultrasound at the hospital was incorrectly read at the hospital as intrauterine, but when my OB/GYN did another ultrasound, it was ectopic.
Not unless it was emergency surgery for bleeding, perforation, etc. Food would contaminate the

    You are the JERK here
I always thought some of you on this board were just mean and catty to each other.  Now I see you hate everyone equally.  You are unbelievable.  I am just glad I don't have to live with YOUR conscience.
    who is the jerk
Are you calling the White people jerks? i.e., Irish, English, Arabic, Chinese, Iranian, Cajun, Creole, Japanese, Egyptian, Canadian, etc.? or the People of color - African Americans, Haitians, Fijians, Africans, Bahamians, Cubans, plus the aforementioned, mixed up any one of the above could be your cousin, ya overseer!
You really sound like a jerk. I am trying
to help people and you want them to type their charts wrong. Reread your posts!
Some of the best sex I have had has been alone. Sex is no reason to put up with a jerk.
    :+
Add my husband to the JERK list!!!!

He's mad at me because he's off work for a week but I'm not.  He expects me to be available to him whenever he wants me to do something with him or for him.  (No, not that, silly.)  He wants me to work and make money, but not if it interferes with his plans for me.  He's turned into a real jerk lately.

In other words, these people don't know who's being a jerk to them

So I fail to see how "telling someone off" while hiding behind a monitor gives anyone any sense of empowerment, but to each his own.

This intelligent MT sees you for what you are, a jerk.
Wow, what an attitude you have. I wonder what you were like as an MT? Mean? Sniping? Backstabbing? Intelligent MTs do appreciate their QA people. Intelligent QA people don't go off like bottle rockets in public like you have. You need the attitude adjustment, not the MT.

He's a jerk and I'm an intermittent fool.

When was the last time you linked to a website link and got the response "too many hits?"  It just looks all too contrived.  I have to admit that I did link there, but won't try it again.  Maybe he's just getting a big kick out of the attention this is bringing, and our resultant frustration.  Now, I will be running my Spyware and deleting any new cookies that are found.

You're a jerk and a cheat. and a disgrace to MT field. nm
    ..
Okay, what is Jerk BBQ and the bread? sounds good!

some jerk wanted to kill my pigeons
I have lots of doves, regular birds (sparrows, finches, you name it) and pigeons frequent my property cause I put bird seed down.  I had some guy come by last winter and ask if he could pay me to catch the pigeons so they could kill them and eat them..I said, honey, I love animals and there is no way Im gonna let you come here and kill my pigeons..you are talking to the wrong person, LOL..
THAT is when constructive feedback helps, not being a jerk about it.
QA should remember how it felt to be MT and struggling to get it right.
    responsibility?

Everyone has made a bad decision at some point in their lives.  That doesn't mean that we deserve to be killed because of it.  The responsibility lies with the criminals.  They are the ones who do the bad things to innocent people.  How many girls are kidnapped and raped who aren't out drinking?  Many.  Why not talk about the parents of the suspected boy?  Where does their responsibility lie?  We are criticising Natalee's  mother, but what about this boy's father?  How could you hide information about your son's actions when he has possibly killed someone?

Your mentality is lacking.  If you get in a car and drive to work, does that mean you are just asking to be killed in a traffic accident.  And if you are, people should just say Oh well, she chose to drive!  That's what she gets. ????

    Responsibility
Sorry, but I think Beth should be held accountable and responsible for her actions/words.  She is out of control, in my opinion, fueled by her raw emotion and e-mails/letter/cards she feels are supporting her actions.  She is supported in her ordeal and I support her.  However, she has crossed a line now and she needs to step back and reassess.  She seems erratic and just grasping at straws now, saying a lot of stuff in interviews that really makes no sense.  I do not know how I would react if I was in her situation so I should not criticize her.  I just really do feel that her emotions are too raw now for her to be rational.  It is like she is declaring, "I came to Aruba.  I found the criminals myself, now prosecute them."  What if she eventually finds out she was dead wrong, that her beautiful, intelligent, outstanding daughter was alive when she the mother arrived in Aruba but she drove the investigation to go the way she wanted it to go, the way she felt in her heart/soul was the right way.  But, what if she is wrong?  What if the investigators dropped what they were doing to catch the real criminals to passify Beth and the media?  What if Natalee could have been saved?  How will her mother feel then if she finds that out?
    let the dr take responsibility
Liability insurance?  The doctors are supposed to read over our transcribed reports and when they put their signature on the report, they have taken responsibility.  Why should we have to pay for liability insurance?
Where is MTs responsibility in this? Is it always

How about the responsibility of the INDIVIDUAL
You've totally missed the whole point of the article!
I know sometimes my knee does cough...

    Govt responsibility
Totally agree with you.  I dont care if some were not prepared..what I care about is now they are hungry, thirsty, homeless..It is the responsibility of our government and the brothers and sisters of America to help other Americans when they need help.  I am from NY and I have been through quite a few hurricanes..nothing like what Florida goes through but I do know hurricanes hit sometimes when you are a day or two from your paycheck and really dont have any money to go shopping or rent out a hotel room.  It scares me that so many Americans blame the victim and turn a blind eye and deaf ear to Americans in need.
    right knee pain
I am not an older MT, but I have been doing this for over 13 years and I just started to notice this last year that my right knee started to hurt, so I change my foot pedal to my left foot, and it really helps, so I have become ambidextrous with my foot pedal.
No, sorry, dear. It's her responsibility to
set and example of standards and intelligence because she's representing the company she's working for. She's a manager, not an owner and she's not paying anyone. She's on the payroll too and has the responsibility to make the company look professional and polished.

You're dead wrong on this one.
Your first responsibility is to YOUR kids. sm
Since it's obvious this other family is troubled, and also that they will not respect the rules of your family and household, you need to talk to YOUR kids.

They need to know they are safe, and that you will be responding, and they need to know HOW you will respond. Predators use some of the crap these kids are pulling, and your kids need to have an identity strong enough to remain KIND but NOT give in to the other kids' behavior.

I'm going to assume (ouch) that your kids are uncomfortable with the situation. Please let it be a teaching opportunity for them. They know the rules; why are the OTHER kids allowed to break your family rules? They want to be kind; can you teach them also to be FIRM?

Good luck. Your kids are your first priority. You may never even KNOW what in the world is going on with the other kids, let alone be able to do anything about it, but your kids will remember this episode for the rest of their lives, probably. Will they also remember how you taught them to understand and overcome?

    Fractured knee cap
I fractured my knee cap and had to have surgery on it with several pins and wires in it and Vicodin did not work for me and so they put me on OxyContin and was on it on and off for about 2 to 3 months.  But I did not take it religiously just when the pain got really bad and especially whe I started through PT and had to move that knee cap to break away the scar tissue.  A knee replacement takes longer to heal and recover from than a hip replacement and when I was typing for an Ortho it took up to six months sometimes.  But I just say, don't take the pain pills if he doesn't need them and usually the doc will say, take up to 30 mg a day -- meaning if you need it and a lot of people just think, well he said to take it and so I will.    But I am not a doctor and also recommend that you contact the doctor or NP if they have one or just his assistant.
    I had a knee replacement....SM
five years ago. Worst experience of my life. I took narcotic pain meds for about two months, then switched to Advil and Aleve. It takes quite a while for all the pain to go away. Miserable surgery.
Yes, I think it is a responsibility and I mad a promise...

to mom to not ever put  her in a nursing home as a young 20-something. As an only child, I followed and kept that promise.

I cared for her for 6 years. It should have been more but I didn't realize she was going downhill so fast. I was very stressed out in her later years as she started to develop a lot of problems including memory problems,  but when I look back, I would NEVER, EVER, change my mind. She was happy here with us and although she was having a lot of problems, the only thing I wished for was for her to be comfortable and happy. (She was in a nursing home temporarily for 2 months after she broke her hip and was very unhappy. This was sort of a test to see if she would like it, but she didn't.) I did everything necessary to make her comfortable in her last years.

It was hard, but I kept my promise even though every doctor told me to put her in a nursing home. Thank heavens, I worked for a great company that understood and allowed me to take as many breaks/days off as I needed to care for her.  I would never have changed a thing even though I got very worn out during the end myself because she was almost totally bedridden. Still, I loved my mother with all my heart and still miss her even though she died 6 years ago.

I only hope my children would do the same for me unless i have Alzheimer disease. If a parent is unhappy at a nursing home, by all means do what is necessary to make their last days happy. After all, they raised us, and we should return that love.

You need to be patient, be a nurse, doctor, etc. for an elderly parent and if there is none, it could be very, very "unhealthy" for the parent and the child, but I feel we need to make sacrifices for  our parents happiness in their later years as they sacrificed for us in our early years. After all, they are the only parents we had, andI I have NO regrets, knowing I did the best I could for her.

Sorry to ramble. I'm still grieving. I wanted her to live to be 100 if possible. We were really close all our lives.

    knee surgery
half days for a week. Should have stayed off the full time but did rest when I at home.
When comptemplating podiatry work the surgeon said no work for two weeks till off the pain meds due to thought processes possibly being affected.
    knee-slappin' LOL (nm)

    Had 2 knee scopes
On the same knee for a torn medial meniscus 11 mos. apart. I've been a fitness maniac forever, so it was all of that stuff. The day after the surgery I went to the gym on crutches and did cardio with the ergometer. My sports medicine doc knew it was pointless to even say anything, but his partner told me "it's abuse" when I had biceps tendinitis. Oh, well. The 2nd MR showed a recurrence of the tear, but my SMD told me that's commonly seen on MR but it's not actually torn. So I did conservative stuff for a month as I recall, and it still hurt. The second time it was basically debris.

I did my PT in the gym with my trainer, but even so, it was the worst surgery to recover from (& I was in good shape, I guess). This is comparing it to all the neck surgeries, too. The reason it was so bad was the wt-bearing.

I hope you do well with it, as many people do. The main thing I would advise you is to do everything possible to not limp. It doesn't take long to teach yourself to walk a new way after this surgery, and I found it annoying to have to go back and concentrate on the "heel-toe" walking. Even when my trainer wasn't beating me up (therapy-wise), I was constantly stretching my quads and hams. Another really good exercise at some point to strengthen is the sitting leg lift. Yes, you'll be in tears, but they're worth it.

Elevating it is still like breathing to me all these years later. The treadmill bothers me, but the StepMill (the moving stairs thingy) is okay.

My guess is that you'll get lots of varied answers. Just don't let yourself get stiff or allow yourself to limp. Those are my 2 main suggestions. I don't envy you one bit.
The sex is too good. LOL Besides, I'm a committed girl. I do love him. He's just a jerk somet

and he as mayor of that city had no responsibility at all?
Such convoluted logic. Believe me, he's doing a great job of pointing the finger of blame and ducking responsibility on his own without any help from you.
    collective work and responsibility?
    thats insane
Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess ..
... that Jesus Christ is Lord!
ultimately it's the hospital's responsibility but do you want to keep your job?
If you do, you'll make sure the hospital is happy. Not a lot you can do here unless you want to cut a deal with the hospital where you will have a sub work your account for you when you are off. That may or may not fly at the hospital. Another thing you can ask is that they hire a third person to work the account. Of course, that means you risk losing work if she wants more...
The doc who signs off on it has ultimate responsibility.

You chose IC status. Your responsibility. nm

No, manure has nothing to do with knee pain.
It had nothing to do with it whatsoever, and for all you know OPs patient could have been there for strep throat. Prayer wouldn't have anything to do with that either.

I am a very proud Christian, but the whole issue here is ridiculous. She didn't start a discussion, she just asked a question as to whether it should be in there. There's a simple answer...yes. It was dictated, so yes. It does not require the whole tolerance lecture or have anything to do with beliefs at all.
    post knee surgery
i had arthroscopic knee surgery a week and a half ago.  my MRI showed fluid and a medial meniscus tear, but when the doctor got into the knee he said it was very angry looking and inflamed and he couldn't really find anything to be causing that inflammation.  he couldn't even find the tear, but did find some frayed cartilage that he shaved off.  he said he did about 5 laps around my knee trying to find a source of my problem, but did not find it, except for the above mentioned.  my knee still feels stiff and very, very tender around the kneecap.  it hurts when the skin is pulled up or down, the entire kneecap area.  the incisions are healing nicely, but i am still having swelling and pain and stiffness.  it's better than pre-surgery, but it just seems to me that i should be "better" by now.  my doctor told me i can go ahead and do whatever i want to do and let pain be my guide.  it seems like my knee felt better a few days ago and now it seems to be getting stiff again, and it's not for lack of exercise or use.  i do ROM exercises and go up and down steps, trying not to baby my knee.  i keep hoping it's going to just get better but i'm getting just a little disheartened at this point.  has anyone else had a similar experience?  my doctor said he was going to be cautiously optimistic that he "fixed" the problem.  i certainly am trying to be too but this morning when coming down my steps i was walking very awkwardly due to stiffness and pain.  any thoughts are appreciated.
and it is our responsibility to know the account specifics...

there was an old post - someone asking about a knee lever - sm
The foot pedal was getting to her (me to), i.e., swollen ankles, soreness, etc., and she wanted to know if there was such a thing as a knee lever/gadget to alleviate the problem. Or if anyone could rig something.

No one had a solution but many said they started working in a recliner and posted pictures of their set up.

was intersting. I myself have built a box with an angle to both raise the pedal and take the angle off my ankle.

    Learned at my mother's knee.
Literally. 37 years ago she was the transcriber (that's what we were called then) for a 10-man (yes, they were all men) multispecialty group here in town. She needed extra help, I knew how to type and spell, and I had passed high school biology, so she dragged me in, kicking and screaming. I was not given a choice. A couple of years after that, I was hired part time at the OB-GYN office down the street. In 1976 I had my first full-time job, in an orthopedic office. In 1981 I went to work part time at another multispecialty clinic, and part time in an oncology office. That segued into nearly 28 years in oncology, and some more part time orthopedics on the side. Last fall my boss closed his practice, and I went to work for one of the big nationals. I still type for one orthopedist on the side.

With 36 years of clinical experience, TRS took a chance on me, and now they are up-training me into acute care. Actually, the only thing "new" to me, besides the actual dictators, is the op reports. I've done literally hundreds of consults and H & Ps over the years, and a discharge summary is just kind of a truncated H & P, if you ask me; so I'm not sure I "get" what the huge deal is about "acute care."
