Wow--so similar. Extext lover. sm

I use ExText too and I love it.  I don't use ESP though since I already had a lot in my Shorthand, but if your account is like mine it might just be so many doctors. I can't even count how many doctors, residents, etc., there are, and I have loads of phrases not just words.  I have a lot of the doctors' physical exams in my expander, etc.

Now, I used to have an account for another MTSO where I got the same 4 or 5 doctors every single day.  I worked about 5 hours a day and my paychecks were easily 2500 every 2 weeks as an IC, but I haven't had anything like that in years!!!  That wonderful account got sent overseas.  Go figure!!

Do you mean a C-phone or their ExText software? Both are easy. nm

Used it with a small service. Didn't find it as easy as ExText. nm

You must either get really easy doctors or you're guessing and
  Don't believe it.
Geez, you're just making this too easy!

I worked for yeeears for a company where I was the primary MT on the account.  I produced what they considered to full-time MTs (no bennies except taxes being cut and matched).  I earned $4000/month.  I later went to work in the office and happened to see an invoice to the client.  I did the math and I realized they were clearing an additional $4000/month just based on my production.  So they were making twice again as much as what they paid me.Was I immature enough to think I DESERVED MORE?  No!

I had a good gig and I knew it.  I knew how valuable I was to both the client and the MTSO.  I knew how long I had worked this account, how certain doctors would only accept my work, how many of those doctors seeing my work at the hospital went back to their practices and signed on with that MTSO because of the quality of my work increasing the MTSO's business in the process.  I was loyal to them  and they were loyal to me.  On the 3 occasions I ran out of work, they paid me 2 weeks pay just so I wouldn't take a job somewhere else.

But let's analyze this since you seem you jumped on my wardrobe size.

First you need to understand this is a country where capitalism is own of its primary foundation.  Next you need to understand that out of that profit, the owner had to pay herself (how many times did she call me for help at 11:00 on a Saturday or Sunday because people bailed on her and she had alread worked 20 hours that day and just needed someone who would help her out?).  In addition to having to do MT work, she had a business to run.  That means maintaining good will.  You know, visiting your clients, checking in to see how things are, what can we do for you...in other words, being the marketing person also.  And god forbid she have a private life.!  She had to pay an office manager to manage all the qurky personalities of the at-home MTs, the daily vascillating work flow, putting out fires and preventing them, etc.  Next she had to pay her bookkeeper because god forbid anyone's paycheck was late or incorrect.  Then she had to pay a computer tech to help set up the new MTs, manage computer issues, make sure all the clients got their work, set up new clients, maintained the ASP, etc.  She also had to pay the in-house MTs.  She had to pay her accountant to make sure the books were in proper order and do yearly taxes, keep up with adding new state taxes to the computer when she hired an MT from another state.

She had to pay rent, electricity, phones, toll free lines for all her long-distance MTs, liability insurance, provide computers sometimes with no notice because someone's computer died overnight and she couldn't afford down time for that MT or the client, provide computer equipment for the client's, provide C-phones and Lanier stations, pay someone to clean the office twice a week...

Is the big picture a little more clear?  Where does this new-age feeling of entitlement come from?  Geesh, am I the only one on this site who can remember trying to pick 100 lbs of cotton in a day and feeling satisfied if I got near that figure?  And I'm in my 40s!

The world doesn't owe you anything.  It was here first.

Ctrl/T is for terminating a job. What are you hitting those keys for while you're working? ExText

Gotta ask your tech. Ctrl/T in ExText terminates the document you're in w/o saving it. nm

Do you have any small children????? Mine reprograms my function keys and I cant figure out how but you can reprogram your function keys through your tools/customize/highlight edit/hightlight cut/click keyboard/ and pick you shortcut.
Functions
I just left them as they were when I loaded express scribe.
No they aren't , they are SH functions. My

company offers brief overview of ShortHand and she was able to automate several functions.

I can't ever get the search functions to work for me either
This site definitely has one of the worst search functions I've ever seen. I've tried all different sorts of ways and though I've seen posts on subjects in the last month, will NOT come up in search, old archives, etc. VERY annoying!
Thanks very much, Pebbles. What functions do you assign to them?

Does anyone know of keyboard functions for Powerscribe for...

Did you reboot for starters? Are the other functions working? nm

Did they check his liver functions and does he still drink?
My son had that problem a few years ago. He's 30 now and his liver function tests were through the roof when he was checked. Once he stopped all alcohol intake, his night sweats completely disappeared. He used to sweat so much it looked like he wet the entire bed and even his wife would be wet.

It IS ExText, Word is simply the word proccessor used. ExText is marketed
by Dictaphone with Transnet and ESP is the expansion software incorporated into it. I used this platform when I worked for the hospital. I believe Wordclient is the speech recognition portion of this platform.
Well, Word is easy to buy and easy to install. Word 97 works great. Cheap. SM
I still would not work anywhere I could not use a spell checker with grammar checker and a Steadman's Medical Spell Checker.

IF they want people to TRANSCRIBE MEDICAL REPORTS, then I guess they better get the programs they need.

It's like probably 110% easier to buy and install Word 97 than to try to program their own programming. And, yes, I do mean Microsoft Word 97. Why? Because you can install it unlimited times, in case you need to install the operating system again. And it has a few features that Microsoft, in its un-wisdom, took away in Word 2000 and 20003 and 2007. So, yes, I'd go with Word 97 for its cheapness and it works better than the later versions. Just my opinion, with 20 years experience being an MT. So what if they "don't have it" on their computer? It's easy to get.
...functions should be there. Ctrl+N to send, Ctrl + I for line

Easy easy money they are!

I don't mind seeing those puppies filter in at all.  Same for H&Ps.  They are always different though, so can't really pop in the same pre-formatted autotext, but it's usually WHAMMO 2-3 pages at a time.  Give them a shot...you may just be pleasantly surprised!

I think I smell either VR on the easy stuff, or offshoring of the easy stuff.

I LOVED IT. . . .
And had to forward it to all my "crabby" friends.
I loved my cat too and still do
I had to put my 18-plus year old cat to sleep 2 months ago.  She was with me since she was born.  She had end-stage renal failure and for a year I had to give her three times weekly infusions of Ringer's.  She was actually really healthy right up until the end though and used to boss the other 2 youngsters around.  I miss her every day.  She went with me back and forth across the country.  I know exactgly how you feel.
I did and loved it - sm

She came every other week and charged $15 and hour. She would spend 4 hours and she was a white tornado in those 4 hours let me tell you.  I loved, loved, loved having her.

Unfortunately, i had to let her go when i moved into rehabbers paradise. No sense in paying someone to fight a losing battle until rehabbing is over say in about 10 years :(

We did that too, my 2 loved it too! - nm

My mom loved them and had many of them -nm
throughout the years, so I grew up with them. They are nice, though I put my hair in a pony tail so I can see. Started out with an old Plymouth in the 60s and ended with a 2003 BMW Z4 (very nice). They only time it was a drag was in an unexpected rain storm, though now you just push a button and the top goes back on....until her corvette (1 car before the BMW) we had to do it manually, so stop the car, pull up the top, lock, etc. Also in the summer, very hot seats...carry towels so you don't scald off the skin on the back of your thighs, butt and back, though cloth seats would help with that problem, and obviously don't leave anything in the car you wouldn't mind losing (i.e. stolen or blown away). They are fun though, I hope to get one myself one day but content myself with driving with all the windows down now. Have fun shopping.
TFS! Loved it
I need that laugh!!
Loved pet...
I had to put down my Andi (poodle mix dog) today.  Last night I came home from church and found her on the door step apparently hurt.  Brought her to the vet who kept her over night.  I went in this morning but she had multiple fractures and had to be put to sleep.  I don't think I will get another pet.  It's too hard when you lose them.
yes, i saw and loved the

was wondering if the walking tour is only a group tour or is there a map and written directions so that one could walk the tour alone (or with a friend, etc.).

the MT info is good but i am much more interested in NY and seeing it from an *insider's* point of view.   i know that is not the purpose of the blog but maybe you could do something on that line regarding NY??

I used to do these too! Loved them! sm
They were long and kind of boring in my opinion, but I made a LOT of $$ and had a GREAT dictator.  he was so great, in fact, that he transitioned into doing his work by voice recognition without a hitch.  I truly miss that account . . . :(
Loved this. (nm)

Yes, loved it.....sm
Yes, I used it for several years and loved it. It does not have its own expander, but I used InstantText with it quite successfully. I hardly ever hear of it any more. Do you mind sharing what company still uses it?
Loved it
Who still uses this program????  It was great.  Does not have its own Expander but I used Instant Text and it worked great!!
Loved it.
Where did you find it? I am thinking to change mine.
LOVED the job!!!!
I worked for this company a while back & loved the job.  I say to anyone out there reading the same rubbish I did, use your own judgement about a person/job and don't let bitter faceless people influence you otherwise - and THEY talked about being rude?!!!  If I wasn't forced to give up the vet op work (family reasons), I would never have left!  New clinics kept opening every year, and the owner always did her best to keep me informed and made my job as easy as possible!  Some people prefer to work for large transcription companies, but I prefer to work for smaller companies, where you are recognized as being an indvidual that is an IMPORTANT member of the team.
Loved it!

I enjoyed reading this post.  I guess it was that punch line that really got to me LOL....

Your real-life doc kinda reminds me of Dr. House on TV, though Dr. House seems to have become more contrite during the last 10 minutes of the season finale.

I've always thought that there could not possibly be real life docs out there like House, at least not ones who would be allowed to see patients, but now I am not so sure.

Have you ever thought of a second career in which you take real-life experiences and fictionalize them, send the scripts to the people who make movies and TV shows?  I think you would be very good at that.

LOL! Loved your response...
the guy would probably burn the whole neighborhood down just to be sure he got the one who did it!  I really wished there was something I could do, though. I loved your graphics.. That's exactly what I feel like doing!
I loved it. Very moving.

I had one when I was inhouse and loved it! sm

I just wish I could afford to get my own right now. It takes a little getting used to, but not too bad and it's soooooo comfortable.

When I used to use Medrite I loved it.
I'm not sure what that person does not like about it. It was extremely easy to use.

she was a great actress and she made me laugh.  RIP Shelly.
