They pushed for Gardasil for my 11y/o sm

and I refused it. It has not been on the market long enough to know about side effects. When she was a year old, she got the chicken pox vaccine and we were told that she would only need one shot. Guess what? Now she has to have a booster because they are finding the protection does not last as long as previously thought. I don't trust Gardasil, and I believe that they would push it on a 17y/o. I am prepared to fight it tooth and nail when my own DD is older.

The kid needs some stability, not being pushed from

one shacking-up situation to another.   Why doesn't your friend and boyfriend get married so the kid has some example to follow?

I don't do that much of it but my wages have pushed me

Gardasil

As far as the Ped. ordering you out of the room for the rest of the exam...Was there a nurse in the room?  Alot of Docs do try to speak to teenagers out of the parents presence because often times teenagers do not want their parents to know what they are doing.  I would have no problem with that as long as he had a nurse present while he was examining her and was not in the room alone with her.  I would rather have my daughter tell a doctor, nurse, school counselor than not tell anyone.  No matter how close we think we are to our kids there are things they will not tell us.  Think about it did you ever do something and not tell your parents about it?  Pushing a medication or vaccine on them they do not want is not right nor is it legal if they are under the age of consent but maybe he was talking to her about it because she disclosed something you know nothing about and he thought she might be at risk and would benefit from it.  There are "many, many" good girls who have found themselves pregnant whose parents were shocked.

As far as the slight scoliosis, it will quite possibly get worse with age and when she is 60 she will find herself humped over or worse.  It is most likely still correctable and I would let him do the x-rays.  X-rays today are not like they were years ago, they are all computer generated and the amount of radiation is the lowest dose possible to get a good picture.

Just my take, you lumped everything in together and freaked out.  Take it one thing at a time and maybe you won't be so stressed out over it.

I believe about the Gardasil sm
Like I said below, they wanted my 11-year-old to get the shot, and she is nowhere near being sexually active. It was stated that now is the time to get it done because you can't be with them all the time. So I believe they would definitely push a 17-year-old to get it. It sounds like this was a physical, so that would be the time for any vaccinations to be discussed. As far as the breast exam, perhaps this was part of the whole physical that was needed for the license, not just the breast exam itself for the license.
that is the point, it is being pushed quite heavily to be mandated, "standardized", and by our
Claudia Tessier. This is not just a doomsday mantra, or whatever: This is reality.

I would like to know how to hold on as long as I can to my job, because I have no other skills really to make as much as I do now in another field.

Not unless service jobs move up the ladder as desired employment...and even then, I do not want to work out of the house. Now I am used to working at home (even though sometimes more stressful).

Do you think editing is really the way to go?

What will happen, say, if all these unhappy MQ MTs start flooding the market looking for work, as it seems there are a lot of people dissatisfied right now.

Even where I work, which is considered a 'smaller' company, we already feel the shift of work as a large number of MTs were just hired. Those of us who have been there are running out of work, or it is slowly streaming in, in bits and peices, not enough to make what we used to...

Gardasil --thanks for your support!
It is nice to know I'm not all alone on the Gardasil issue. I have a feeling it will be pulled off the market soon . . . I hope.
X-rays and Gardasil
My sister was in a sledding accident when we were in high school and she had rib x-rays. She now has 2 kids. My daughter had quite a few x-rays when she she was diagnosed with scoliosis. No one ever said anything about her age and future fertility.

I also did not have her get Gardasil when she was underage and I told her why ~ no one has any idea what the long term effects are. When she turned 18, she did her own research and also decided she didn't want it.
Personally, I preferred a KVM box that had a button I pushed to switch back and forth. SM
I had one where you had to use a keyboard macro to switch back and forth and I could never remember the macro and it was a pain.  Now I have a PengHong (I've never heard of them either but it works great!) which is a very simple silver box with two buttons PC1 and PC2.  It also came with two sets of cables.  It was pretty much i-d-i-o-t proof which was exactly what I needed!
I am with you against the Gardasil, amen, sister!...nm

from tthe WebMD website about Gardasil...
The 7,802 adverse events reported to VAERS for Gardasil include 15 deaths and 31 reports of Guillain-Barre syndrome, a potentially paralyzing, life-threatening condition in which the body's immune system attacks part of the nervous system.
