do you have a subwoofer with your computer's speaker system or anything with a strong magnet near the monitor or CPU? When I got my first computer, I discovered that will mess up a monitor display and can even give low memory warnings. Moving the magnet source at least 3 feet away will cure the problem. Even my employer's tech support didn't know that. I found it in a troubleshooting guide.
