I think they are E-61s or something, stethoscope style, but my dog chewed the wire and I just could not see paying the $45.00 I think they cost to buy another set. I use the earbuds that came with my son's video cam, which work fine but do not have the cord length of the E-61s.
Do you have an old-style transcriber you could test the headphones on? You could also try another pair of headphones and see if you get the same problem with static from the computer.

OP notes and psych stuff are my faves.
Clinic FP/GP/GYN notes drive me absolutely insane. I'll never understand people can do that (transcribing and/or treating patients even!) day after day, year after year, decade after decade...
I'm with your son, although my faves are SF Rockstar and SF Sobe No Fear. VROOOM ... lol nm
