Praise God and continued prayers...

What do you do when you are totally overwhelmed by
life in general?  This happens to me maybe once a year.  I think part of it is the holidays and I'm an orphan and the only "family" I have/claim is my DH and my DC, but I am also burned out with work because no matter how much extra I do, I'm just asked to do more, my youngest is very strong-willed and while I don't give in to him, sometimes he is more of a challenge, my DH is facing a 6 week recovery from surgery and will be unable to work and no work, no pay, I can't get my house clean, etc.  I'm sure there is some situational depression, but I also know that in about a week things will start to work out, but in the meantime I've got this week to get through.   I  usually try to pray myself through this and I believe it keeps me from doing anything stupid, but it still is an incredibly sad time.
regards to totally overwhelmed...
Well, I have also been going through a rough time lately. Seems that I experience depression every fall to some degree. I am a single mom with three daughters, 10, 13, and 15 and I pray a lot when I get down and out as well. That is about the best advice I can give you...and if it makes you feel any better stop and think about how many others out there that are in a situation similar to yours so believe me, you are not alone. I hope you feel better. Maybe you can find a website for that offers support chat rooms or forums for people dealing with whatever similar situations you face.
Overwhelmed by new job. Don't know what to do.

There are too many emails, documents, and files.  I can't find what I need when I need it due to the sheer volume of it all.  I can't remember any of it either because there are hundreds of pages of it and it's not organized the way I would do things.  It's all so different than anywhere else I've worked.  It's as if I'm unlearning 10 years of grammar and style training.  The dictation sounds like psh, spht, sp, snarf, spt because the sound quality blows.  It's taking hours longer than the schedule I agreed to.  I don't even have time to deal with my personal and family responsibilities!  I'm exhausted and stressed out.  I don't want to quit, but I don't want to deal with all of this.

Does anyone else get overwhelmed with all the paper
that's constantly thrown at them?  I just spent an hour and a half cleaning off my desk.  It was covered with mail, books, bills, school papers for all the kids, papers I have to fill out for DH and our oldest, papers to be shredded, stuff I have to do for other people, account specs.  This was all just from the past week.  I always thought I was a pretty organized person, but this place is a mess.....
I am overwhelmed some days and just don't

know how I'll get through.   I've even had a couple of days where I called DH at work and told him to call me every hour, just to make sure I didn't do something stupid.   As hard as it is I would try to figure out what the #1 crisis was and what did I/we need to do to try to fix it.   With me most issues are financial.   We've never had a late bill or missed a meal, but have had to juggle things.  I stress way too easily about finances, mainly because I handle them and DH likes to spend $$, especially at the grocery store.  He grew up going hungry so he needs to be able to buy whatever he wants at the grocery store - he does the shopping usually.

I found that if you are married you absolutely need/have to have the cooperation of your spouse and even if times are tough but you are on the same page you'll get through whatever it is.

I find a good night of sleep often makes things not seem so helpless.  I'm a Christian, but I am a quiet/private one and dislike going to church.  I do find that I pray a lot and while I've never "heard" God's voice like I hear people talking about, He has always provided and told me to have faith because He said he would provide and He has.   When we've gotten in tight money situations an unexpected check will show up, a refund from something, a bonus from work, etc.   I've learned to not stress so much over money, just take a deep breath and have faith.

Some of our problems are of our own making and we just have to dig ourselves out of them and hopefully learn from our mistakes.  Other times we have absolutely no control and we have to realize that and fix what can be fixed and just let go of what we can't.   As bad as our situations may be there are always those in much worse situations.   There are some that can handle everything with grace and there are others who just won't/can't handle things.   I'm somewhere in the middle, but often wonder what is it that makes the person who handles things with grace like that.

Try to go outside for 15 minutes every day and walk, if doing nothing more than walking around the yard.   Doctors tell postpartum moms to do this to avoid depression and it really helps, especially if the day is sunny.    Try to count your blessings instead of your problems.

Sometimes we are not open to listening to God or we only come to Him when we need/want something.   We also want what we want.

Praise the Lord!
 Jesus!
I also have nothing but praise for them. They have a wonderful sm
QA staff and are always willing to help, not condescending as so many people I hear complain, and as the above poster stated, really good benefits.
Praise to He who is worthy...
I am so thankful you weren't hit...He is wonderful!
In praise of jiggly butts (sm)
Warning:  Foamy the Squirrel's language may be offensive to some uptight types.
I always give tons of praise...
if I see the newbie is consistently giving her best, looking up words and even THINKING about them LOL - I find most newbies are pretty hard on themselves without my help!
No TV, no music, nothing. Music and TV cause me to daydream. nm

Thank you for your prayers.

We've never even actually met him in person, but he is my husbands best friend's only sibling and my husband's friend was going through such a horrible time waiting and wondering that he couldn't even go to work. We only wish everybody could have good news.

Thanks again.

Thanks, I need all the prayers I can
get! LOL.
asking for prayers

I just learned that my boss's daugher-in-law and grand-daughter were involved in a horrendous car accident. The DIL suffered many fractured bones, on top of a pre-existing MS condition. However, the grand-daughter may die, and even if she survives she will likely have severe brain damage.

Can those of who you believe in a high power keep this family in your thoughts and prayers?

PRAYERS

Just e-mailed your request to my church who has a prayer group that meets everyday and prays for the requests that are sent in.  Have also sent a few of my own on the way.  Hope all works out.

My prayers are with those who are dealing
with Hurricane Wilma.  I'm catching bits and pieces on TV and, living in the midwest, I can't imagine the fear that must go through those who stay to ride it out. I would be terrified.  God bless all of you.
You're in my prayers. You should know this is the most
dangerous time. Please get all the help of people around that you can!  God Bless and God Speed!
Prayers are also needed
Hello: I will say a prayer for this precious little one. He is too young to suffer this way. I also need many prayers for a dear friend with Stage III ovarian cancer, who is undergoing chemotherapy and having a rough time, but has a loving family and is coming home today. It is not hopeless but need prayers.

I also need some prayers for my mother-in-law who is in the hospital with lymphoma and a severe blood infection. If anyone has some extra prayers please send them there way as they are lovely ladies and need a second chance. Thank you. Hope all of our prayers are answered.
Will definitely keep you in my prayers PAMT! nm

Please send your thoughts and prayers...

Yesterday around 11:00 a.m., in a town near me, a guy went to the hospital where his ex-wife was a nurse, called her outside to talk to her, and shot her 5 times.  She was flown to a bigger hospital nearby, but later died.  They found him last night trying to cross the Canadian border.

There are 2 small girls involved (5 & 9) who can use all the prayers we can offer right now.

You're already in our thoughts and prayers,
and I am also making a donation to the Red Cross. May God watch over you.
Absolutely, sending prayers their way.

Prayers for a sexually abused child please...sm
I'm a foster parent and while at my foster child's psychologist appointment today there was a 9-year-old girl waiting for her appointment time and she looked the saddest of any child I've ever encountered.  Right after I walked into the room this child looked at me and said "men stare at me."  I then told her that perhaps it was because she was a pretty girl, and she went on to tell me that she was there because she had been sold for sex to men by her mom to support her mom's meth habit.  She is now in protective custody and it was her caseworker who had brought her in to start psychotherapy.  Things like this make me sick because this child's innocence was robbed all because her mother made poor decisions in life and sold her child to fulfill her own selfish desires.  All I could do was assure her that she wasn't the bad person and that she was a good kid and that the people that did these things to her were bad, and that not all men want sex from girls.  Please say a prayer for her.   I don't know her name but God certainly does.
Ditto.......prayers to all in India affected!!!....nm

Relief from this coal miner's daughter for all of those families and prayers for the one fallen.
Coal miners are a rare breed. Thank God these were saved.
music
I am a child of the 80's and felt like I couldn't be burdened with finding gigs. I am an accomplished pianist (A little rusty at 43) but I love music where there is only piano playing. Does DH like Elton John, Billy Joel, (ok - stretch -KC & JoJo's version of Lately), and Stevie Wonder. Nothing like a man and his piano.
Can't get into her music?
I don't know why not. Her and Mellancamp sound just as bad.
