I think you just hit load and when it asks where you want to look for them, you choose the desktop.  It should load itself with .wav files.  If it's not recognizing the files, then you might have a problem I did.  My computer, which runs on Vista, didn't have the True Speech codec to run a certain type of .wav file, so I went to bytescribe (even though my pedal isn't a Bytescribe pedal, it still works) and downloaded the codec and restarted my computer, then Express Scribe recognized the .wav files and loaded them.
