Click on file, preferences. At the bottom, under "text transfer method" you can choose "simulate clipboard paste if text only."
HOWEVER, one other thing works differently with this choice (which I found out the hard way). It makes entries in the case that you typed the shortcut. So if you want to use just pe for PHYSICAL EXAM, it will not capitalize it unless you make a separate entry with PHYSICAL EXAM, it will just make it physical exam. Not sure if I explained that correctly or not.
