Turn it over and see if the screws are screwed in.

Posted By: Mine work themselves loose every now on 2006-01-26
In Reply to: Help please!!! Is there anything that would make my c-phone footpedal stop working? - radmom

and then and then I have trouble with it - but I can't say that it's stopped working COMPLETELY before from that.

There are usually screws in the bottom
that you can open up, but I will warn you it can be a bear trying to put the thing back together because of positioning the screws deep in those holes. A magnetic screwdriver will save you a lot of aggravation. When I've opened it up, I've seen springs broken, springs out of place, the plastic holding the springs broken off. There will be a little nubbin of plastic in the lid side of the pedal that is the contact for the little silver internal PLAY button. If that is broken, fixing it may be impossible.
Except that when QA screws up originally correct
That's the whole point of this thread.
Make sure it's ok on the receiving end to enlarge. Sometimes it screws up the printing

Turn down such low low offers, turn industry around. sm
The way to figure is how many lines an hour do you do. There are 13 lines characters in a line (65 line length)
So say you TRY to average 4 pages an hour say 34 lines a page equal 139 lines, times your line rate.
139 X 4 cents a line = $5.56 an hour

and what if you don't do 4 pages even less.

MTing hourly hourly output is not very predictablel, so ya never know and predict what you can put out each hour.
THE WAY TO TURN THE INDUSTRY AROUND IS TO SPEAK UP, SAY 'NO' THAT IS TOO LOW AND GIVE SHORT EXAMPLE.

If the MTs continue to accept, that is what the going rate will continue to be. Yes, Yes, it will. Just keep looking. Email for general lowest to highest line rate prior to testing and resume, just say it saves time on both sides and it DOES. Why waste time. Soon, the message will get out there.
Stedman's Ortho and Rehab words. You'll keep researching screws & pins as long as you do

got screwed
First I was with MQ, and I think that explains itself, left there went to radiology co, who gave the department the heaveho for VR (nice severance package though), then went into office, pulled transcription and acted as backup, way overqualified and missed being at home, now am working backup for 2 companies, one of which everybody loves, but the owner hates me and bust me down to 7.5 cents per line fr 10 cents per line because I was not keeping up with 5000 lines weekly. EVERYBODY loves the quality of my work though, no where to go but on my own. Thanks
How did you get screwed
Just wondering how you got screwed? I run an MTSO and I am always wanting to know what MT's like and don't like. What company do you work for?

screwed
My answers tell me that I am screwed if I lose my job.  NOOOOOO!!!!
This board is all screwed up..sm
I can't read the beginnings of posts because it is going into the blue part on the left hand side.  Can someone fix it?
Most newbies ARE screwed.
I personally know two people, one of whom I mentored through her training program, who could get jobs in the field. No one would let them get a foot in the door. So I understand that frustration from that point of view, because these people have had to count their training money as a loss and go on to other things. I was so sad for them, and angry at the penny-pinching MT profession as it is today, which has few opportunities for in-house training for new people to learn what they need to know to succeed.

I think a lot of the bitterness you sense is really toward the big companies and the direction that the profession has taken. There is no place anymore for newbies to learn and "pay their dues" the way many of us had to do it.

I also agree with the poster below who said this is something that is in EVERY profession nowadays. My own father was pretty well forced into retirement, and yet they had the nerve to call him afterwards trying to pick his brain because his successor, half his age, couldn't figure something out. (He informed them of his consultant rate, take it or leave it.) As the other poster said, you find it in teaching and other professions, as well.
Man you are getting screwed. What a slap in the
face that is.  Even though none of us are probably making any more than we did 10 years ago (taking into account cost of living) that is just an insult.  Glad you are leaving.
I got screwed - and the management was not the greatest - sm
I just didn't feel like I was part of the team... and I do like to feel that way...  my opinion...  not to mention I got screwed when I decided to move on to another company... I never got reimbursed for my internet services, they tried to make me PAY for a computer that I never needed and never received (mine was the right format), AND they tried to say that I owed for a footpedal - which I had already purchased one two years before working with them - not worth the bother really....   I would recommend OSi or DSC
you screwed up and you know it. you missed the point and you know it.
the jokes on you. hey i'm am more than happy to have the router give you the hard stuff. whatever. i got bills to pay and when they route crap to you, i keep the good stuff.
HELP. My husband screwed up my toolbar
how do i get it back down where it used to be?  The start menu, etc.
The point is that HE screwed up, and he will have to pay for his actions. nm

People are screwed up in this world. Too many
people think the govt should take care of their every need. Got my subscription of people magazine yesterday and reading the stories of the survivors. A lot were very said but on the first page of the article there is a picture of a boat filled with people that were rescued from their submerged houses. What is in that picture? In the bottom right corner, a woman in a wheelchair holding a Budweiser beer. If my house was under water and I'm screaming for help the last thing I would want to grab is my beer. My pictures, my important papers maybe but not my warm beer. This hurricane is making me mad so I have to stop watching the news. Saw a guy on the news the other day who said the govt better give them the same big checks that the 9-11 people got. Ok, changing subject now and going to watch nick at night before I get mad over this subject again.
Screwed up Medical Records
My sister went to the hospital after a car accident and was there for about a week. I told her to get her medical records because things had been such a mess while she was there - she had someone else's x-ray reports - reports of things she never had done - part of her H&P and part of someone else's - and just plain sloppiness and incorrect information all through her chart. And then they charge us for our MR. I have in the past gone and paid over $200 for my records and then promptly gone to the bank and stopped payment on the check - it was worth the $15 stop payment fee but not the $200.
Toth screwed me too years ago
I am terribly sorry to hear they are still at it. I worked for Toth for about the same amount of time as you had and they screwed me out of the time plus over $1,000.00 in pay. I never saw a penny of it. I tried to have the shut down. I presented a ton of evidence to Labor & Industry, as well as the A. General, but with no luck. L & I said I had a case, but because I was IC they didn't handle it. Told me to get a lawyer. Lawyer told me, I had a case but probably would only come out with 1/2 of what they owed me minus fees from court costs ect. I cannot believe they are still pulling this same scam. Are you a newbie? Toth was my first job. What a mistake.
What screwed us was the fact that our work - sm
is the only one of those three fields that can be offshored. Nursing can't because the physical presence of the nurse is needed. And the same for court reporters. I would be very interested to know if any of the court steno-notes are outsourced to be transcribed, or if the CR does it herself. If they cn be outsourced, I wonder if it's legal for any of it to go offshore. My bet would be a resounding NO. And I'm also willing to bet that even if the CR can hire someone to transcribe her court notes, that there re very strict rules about where that information can go. That's why I'm adamant about plugging that huge leak of America's confidential medical information. Not only because it's morally wrong to offshore it when Americans need the work, and because of identity theft, but also because of ech medical report's potential as a court record. Someone, somewhere, needs to be made aware of that. Maybe it's time to start talking to people involved in the court system, to get their feedback on that issue.
that post was not mine..screwed up posting.

Comcast is apparently all screwed up across the board.
I have been having trouble with accessing some websites, but not all. My clients are having the same trouble so it would seem that Comcast has a major problem on their hands across the land. As an FYI, I'm located in PA. What about the rest of you?
First, you need to remove 4 screws to replace/remove your hard drive. (sm)
Once the screws are all removed, the hard drive (4 x 4 x 2) is sitting in the bottom of the cage. This won't always be the situation, (some really cheap cages are open at the bottom, so the instant the last screw is removed the drive drops if you aren't holding on). Oddly enough, this is the most critical stage of replacing a hard drive, in the sense that removing the drive through the case where the ribbon cables are bunched up and over the CPU and heatsink is most likely to create another problem. If the cables are long enough, you can leave them attached to the hardrive as you slide it out, but don't try pulling through a mess, clear a path first. If you are discarding the entire unit, dont worry about  being gentle handed.
Norton fried my old computer, totally screwed it up....this was 8 years ago though...hopefully its i

If government is involved, it will be as screwed up as the Medicare medication program.
Heaven save us from all these wanna be kings that sit on top of the hill.
I've been screwed over by the big phone companies too, but once you switch to a business line,
a lot more options are opened up to you. Talk America has an unlimited long distance business line for $49.95. I've been with them for over a year now. I also tried calling cards, which are an even bigger rip off.
turn it down some more
We usually keep it at 67 in the winter, 78 in the summer, but this winter will move it to 64 or 65 during the day and probably cooler at night. We live down south so that's not that bad. If we lived up north those thermostat settings would cost us way too much money! I remember keeping it low to stretch out the heating oil a little bit more. Good luck to all of you up there.
had to turn them down
I got a job offer from them, but I only have been in this business for about 9 mos now, so all they could offer me was their mentoring program at 6.5 cpl. they have a mandatory 12-week training program which sounds great for the all the feedback and communication. However, the biggest drawback for me (besides the paycut) was that after you become an employee you have to SIGN a piece of paper statng that you will stay employed with them for 1 year following their training, and no chance of any raise until 6 mos after you sign on. Too many negatives for my life right now.
why not turn it into a little bit ot fun for you?
When I get that call from India (where they usually insist they are calling from one of the states), I assume a very thick accent and ask questions.

Why, suga, you don't know my nahim? I cuda sworn I gave it to ya laest tyme! Tell you whayat...let me talk to someone without an Indyian accent who can hear me, wontcha do thayat for me, hunnee?

There is always the northeast accent.

Yo, youse want my name? For wat? Wyse do youse think I wanna talk to you today? Eh? Whatcha gonna do 'bout it, eh? You're in New York? Get Out! Me too! You uptown or midtown? Which rail you ride to work?

They usually hang up at that point pffttt!! :}
Can you turn off

the abbreviation Expander in Bayscribe?  I use ShortHand and have to do that in ChartScript.  SH works great when I do that.

I should have also said we are to turn off
the automatic numbering because it also causes problems for our software.
Turn down

Tell your supervisor to talk to the QA person about excessive nagging. Do something about it.

Any screensavers you may have set to start.

Ctrl+Alt+Del will start task manager, where you can see any programs or processes that are running.

you can also turn off
While you're there, UNcheck the *allow indexing service* box. If you need to find a file on your computer, use Google Desktop. The chances of having to search for something by suffix are slim, not worth the performance cost of allowing indexing. If you need to do this, run it while you're asleep.
Yes it is something I can turn off...sm
When I come on the message board or am sendng emails to friends, I don't sit there and take the time to do everything "proper" and all. I do things "proper" all day. I proofread all day. When I come on here I am not worried about my message if it isn't perfect. I know proper English but sometimes you just get tired of being so perfect all day. I can and do turn it off and when I need it turn it on.
What a TURN-OFF

Who in their right mind would apply?  Maybe its our good friend Tonya at 6 cpl again...

Okay - here's my reply - Your turn!
You really are in serious need of psychiatric attention/medication, but I have a life to lead and am leaving you to post your reply and move on with your delusional life.

Awaiting your witty and egocentric reply! :)
Okay, here's my posting. Your turn!

Maybe your multitude of friends you go out socializing with aren't available today and that's why you're trolling MT boards on Saturday afternoon?

Saturday's my day off and I come to these boards to check in. I no longer do MT because I saw what happens to people who have no life away from their computer. I have a career outside the home and have people to talk to that aren't behind a monitor wolfing down a bag of Cheetos. You're a perfect example.

Now, before your imaginary entourage of social butterflies stops by to take you to the country club, hurry up and post your angry response. This is actually amusing, and makes me so glad that I don't have to deal with the mentally ill on message boards to take up time before my next shift.

I have better things to do than argue with the socially retarded, but do enjoy the board today and have fun! Clearly that's all you have.

Actually, if you did turn around and sell

the computer and stole the SS numbers, don't you think you would be arrested and maybe go to jail or even be fined.

Sure, ya could, but would ya!

Go turn on the TV then and leave us alone
without your almight permission.
Turn it off and unplug everything!
No NEVER! I believe at MQ if you lose your equiptment because you left it plugged in during a storm, they won't pay to replace it. Atleast that is what I was told a few years back. Needless to say, they used to send out e-mails saying this is thunderstorm season and make sure you unplug both your computer AND your phone lines if a storm approaches!
turn off and unplug
Unplug from the wall, even your protector, and be sure to unplug your phone line if you use one for the computer, your router if you have one, or your high speed modem. The surge protectors fail. We have one that was nearly 200. and during a storm it got fried along with the tv that was plugged to it.
In turn, I agree with you. LOL!
Now, granted, my first response today was a bit testy, but I was not calling names in the other topic and I wanted to make that particular point clear. :)

Everyone has to make their own moral and ethical decisions in life, and just because someone makes a different decision than mine does not mean they're an evil person or deserve to be insulted, called names, aspersions cast on their character, etc. It does NOT necessarily mean that I'm going to remain silent and reserve my opinion on the issue, though.

Decisions with an element of risk are made every day, and most of them turn out fine. I'm not comfortable with drinking on the job and would not employ anyone I discovered doing it, but if someone else is, then that's their choice and may they never regret it.
So how many lines did it turn out to be?
.
Well technically they can't turn it off here unless the

Turn the tables
This is why I don't like working at home (and don't anymore). In person, you can use facial expressions and tone of voice, and take them totally by surprise. What you do when they accuse you of something is squint your eyes a little, turn your head a bit as if wondering what on earth they are talking about, with just the slightest hint that you might be questioning their sanity. Then you calmly explain what actually happened. When they fail to apologize, you kind of lean forward, turn your head a little, make a forehead frown, and ask something like, "Is there some reason you thought I might have done something like that? Sometimes it seems almost like you are questioning my ethics ..." and you look very calm, but concerned about them. This usually causes them to stammer and backpedal in a most satisfying way. :oD

i think I'm going to turn the position down
because something just doesn't feel right about it.  I can't find current info on them and nobody's is posting anything but making it mandatory for me to be signed in to i.m. and mandatory for me to check my email when I'm not working (nights and weekends) I think is a little bizarre.  I've worked as an ic for many years and have never heard of that.
I turn off every night.
