Did you try pillows?
I have one behind my back and I sit on one. Made a HUGE difference.
To MT who posted below about using pillows with keyboard

Do you use a pillow on your lap, then place your keyboard tray on top of it, then on top of the keyboard tray you place another pillow and then on top of the second pillow you finally place your keyboard?  Is your keyboard tray detached from your computer desk?  If so, where did you find it?  Thank you very much for your help.

Yeah..call me crazy but I pack it in bubble wrap and pillows..You'd be going a little further so
As far as a laptop, it's a hassle, but you can take that in a carryon bag so you know it would be knocked around. The worst part is that you have to take it out everytime you go through security at the airports but it isnt bad. I just ordered a laptop today so I can start taking that and retire my desktop..that is as long as this new adapter I just bought works like others say it will. My husband is bascially retired and I hated that he could travel without me so I quit my in-house jobs to go home this year doing transcription and now that summer is here and our little one is out of school, we're off and running. Vegas this month, then Calfornia the next..etc... I love this job!!!
