Save your money....there are websites and chat rooms

that are full of messages about scams......research, research and never, ever pay.  These places want you to feel 'rushed' so that you don't have time to really think or check them out.

Good luck and please beware.

I used to send a card and gift card to my direct supervisor, but that's it. sm
She was the only one who knew me as more than an employee number, and the only one I had any respect for.
Of course they shared it with you--to let you know
.
The gal I shared a clinic with (sm)

went in one day to pick up tapes.  She was standing there erasing tapes when one of the docs walked in and started chatting with her.  As they were standing there, he handed her his tapes for that day and the day before.  They continued to chat and she took those tapes and ran them through the magnet!  She looked up at him, he looked down at the magnet, and they both busted out laughing.

Yeah, it sucks, but it isn't the end of the world!  Go in first thing Monday morning and tell them what you did.

glad you shared that with us
it is good to see what other co's are doing to compare. thanks again
Then I realized that no one ever shared with me, I had to
figure it all out, shared with everyone, then the happy cherrypickers would go in and take everything that I had created shortcuts or "normals" for.  I never even got a thank you for furnishing samples.    I do not get paid to help anyone else out, it is my time and resourcefulness and now everyone can fend for themselves.
A physician shared this one

The patient was in a cute dress... (medical Transcriptionist error....)

I did try to save the file first but it wouldn't even let me save it.

Awhile back on this board someone shared a place where
they would tell you what hardware your computer was running.  I can't find it and need it again.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.
Thanks to all who shared their reference sites with me; I received some great new ones! nm

Know of this - its fantastic
Have been using this for well over a year now and its been a really great help in finding words. I have this as my homepage now, instead of Google. It has all the features of Google, but just so much better. Guess its due to all those medical websites added to its database. If you use this, you'd notice that the first few search results pages almost always show up quality medical links. Normally, you don't have to go beyond a maximum of two search results pages to get what you are lookin for. Try it - you'd know what I'm talkin about :)
that's fantastic! congrats!!

how did you get so lucky to find a man that can actually voice his appreciation of you to you!!???  there aren't many out there like that.

what about the fantastic four, remember them?
I think there is a movie out about them, but my boyfriend and his brother liked the characters from childhood. For their basketball team, they had T-shirts made up; one was the torch, one was the rubber man, etc.

Since they brought it back and made a movie, it may be a bit overdone now, though.

Gee, are these four boys, four girls, ages - do they like scary or are they just small?

Fantastic Sams

Do you have a Fantastic Sams in your area.  In my area they do a good job and they don't cost a fortune.  But in all cases, be careful about who you let color your hair.  You can also lookup the websites of the different hair color products on the Internet and some of them have a consultation area where you can talk to someone to get advice.

Ours is right at $3, but I get FANTASTIC gas mileage.
I feel for those of with you SUV's and minivans. Filling those up has got to be expensive.
Fantastic!!!! Good for you :-) nm

OMG!!! That was totally fantastic! sm
Such great talent for a little boy.

Hey, Ghost, yes, I got these two years ago, they are fantastic,,,,,sm
They really block out any noise around your house, are comfortable, but best of all they produce crisp, clear, life-like sound for all those mumble-mouth dictators.....won't solve everything, but I have been doing this over 25 years, used Dictaphone, and many many other brands, Bose rocks, not to mention using them for music listening, absolutely awesome and worth the bucks, IMHO!
Has anyone disconnected the internal sound card and replace with another sound card?

I am having problems with my sound on one of my computers.  Several different ExText program have been on it so I don't think it is the program and the sound is just now as clear as on my other computer.  Has anyone switched (disconnected the internal sound care and replaced) to a new sound card?  Did it make a difference.

Everyone on this board is so knowledgeable, I really appreciate you.  You have helped me many times.

I thought Transolutions was sooo fantastic, don't they have something to help you with that?

I believe fantastic transcripts only hires locals - sm
But I am not sure. If that is the company out in Burbank/LA - I thought they only hire within 30 minutes of the area. I could be wrong.
Been working on a fantastic project at work...sm
Helping prepare for President Bush to come and give his Veterans Day speech from where I work.  It's amazing to see how they put everything together in a few short days. We got word less than a week ago he was even coming, and now we are overrun with preparations and White House/Security staff. Hoping I can get a ticket for my 10 y/o daughter to come to see the speech. If you would have told me 15 months ago when I took this job that I'd be working on this now, I never would have believed you. I worked at home for 13 years, so this is all really huge switch for me.
Sounds fantastic. I wouldn't stres-sm
about it.  The colors sound great--the menu sounds delicious.  Either place you put the food would be fine.  Have fun!
What a fantastic, cogent, and TRUTHFUL post.....sm
We at home have been reduced, in most part, to a pair of hands who are there to pound out high-quality work at all times, put out high-volume work to bring in the $$$ for the company/corporation, and because we are employed at home in order to save physicians, hospitals, and other health care systems $$$, we are where the buck stops, and it is a small buck at that. We are all a separate entity, working remotely, and as such it is easier for many MTSOs to offer the slimmest package they possibly can, and squeeze the most out of the workers. When will companies realize that a happy worker who feels valued and cared about is a more productive, loyal, and healthier asset to the company. I have worked in hospitals with unions, and to be honest, we would still be making half of what we now make were it not for union negotiations standing up for us, the dues are small compared to the guaranteed packages, and guaranteed raises built in to the contract for the next five years, as inflation eats up our paychecks. MTs study hard, must be experts at anatomy, epidemiology, grammar, semantics, translations for ESLs, understand clinical procedures during difficult procedures, edit, trouble-shoot when there is a problem with a file, be tech-savvy....I truly think, after almost 20 years, that MT as a profession has consistently been undervalued and undermined by offshoring. Sorry to rant, but all of these problems have hurt and affected most MTs for many, many years, and their families. Thanks!
Fantastic program .. I have hired MTEC
grads and have been really pleased with them. I would definitely suggest you choose that program. Wonderful education and caring staff.
I do, 20 bucks plus shipping. Pedal works fantastic, hardly used.

This is a fantastic idea actually (renting hotel room)
It may be tax deductible. I actually like my home and it is affordable as I got it at a low price several years ago and put a big down payment on it. In other words, I doubt if I could repeat this. No small children. What I am thinking of is that I will probably have to work until I am 60 at least. The only other option would be to go back to school and get training in another skill but even that seems difficult. I have no idea what I could learn and work at other than nursing.

Thank you very much
wedding, to go or not go - sm

I have been invited to my 2nd cousins wedding.  I really don't want to go because I do not know him or the bride.  However, that side of the family is apparently having a get-together of the first cousins around the same time and I had planned on going to that.  Now I feel I "should" go to both or neither one.  What would you do?  Thanks for the help.

Yea, he does. Met him at the wedding
walked in I thought I would fall over There were other stars there but all I saw was him.  Did meet him and he was nice and funny.
we had fountains at our wedding

We just had 2 chocolate fountains at our wedding- they were amazing! The fountains came with lots of goodies to dip them in. They used to cost about $5 a person but now they have significantly gone up in price- i think they are at $12 pp now.

In a way, as far as amount of food, it seems you get your money's worth but on the other hand, since everyone has already had their meal & there is the wedding cake for dessert, you end up having a lot of food left over in the end so in some ways, it can be a waste of food.

I think it also depends on who you rent it from as far as pricing and what comes with it. At our wedding, the company that provided the fountains took care of setting them up & running the fountains.

Has anyone seen The Wedding Crashers. If so what do you think?
Need to go to the movies and looking for something good.
Black at wedding
Black is stylish and I love it. I would suggest not wearing black stockings, etc. Do you have any bright colors you could add such as a cloth rose (very stylish)or some bright jewelry to offset the black. Try a thrift store for a bright bag or shoes. I just did that and found a pretty pink bag with black trim for a couple of dollars. That should offset the black. Just try not to go "totally black" but if you have to, so be it. Just wear a "smile" and have a great time! Life is temporary, enjoy it.
the last wedding I went to was in the evening and...sm

most of the guests were wearing black.  Of course, it was elegant dresses, with sequins and sparkles.  It actually made the pictures turn out wonderful, very classy looking. Black can be fun, if you dress it up. If you are wearing say a black skirt, pair it with a flashy top, sequins, etc, if the wedding is at night.  As for daytime, I think I'd steer clear of black and opt for something bright or neutral.  Of course, this is JMHO, of course.  Anyhow, the most important thing is to be there to support the new couple and, most of all, have fun! Best wishes to the bride and groom!

According to the wedding channel..
(from the site):
It is now acceptable for female guests to wear black to weddings, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Black choices, however, should be more ornate than reserved, to give off an air of celebration rather than mourning. Sometimes, adding a little color (vibrant flower pins and scarves work wonderfully for weddings) rounds off the somber look well.

I attended a wedding where even
It was absolutely beautiful! White bride's dress, black tuxedos with red roses, black bridesmaid's dressing with them carrying a red rose, and the bride's huge bouquet of red roses. It was very classy!
hey, sounds just like the wedding I went to...sm
Hummm, was it in November? In Georgia? Wow, that would be weird, wouldn't it?
Wedding attire
You could pick up one of the Bride magazines and see dozens of options for wedding attire. According to tradition, the veil symbolizes virginity, while a white dress symbolizes a first wedding. Neither is required for a bride on her wedding day. Someone where I work wore a pink wedding dress despite it being her first marriage. There really are no rules these days, and most wedding directors are just hoping to convince brides to cover all tattoos for their big day!
Wedding Cake

Could anyone direct to me some good web sites with wedding cake pictures?  I have found a few, but it seems they are all "cookie cutter" and I am looking for something original, but not crazy.  Am having a smaller wedding (under 100), outdoor.  Any links anyone could provide, I would be majorly appreciative!  (I have cake appointments next week and need to provide some ideas for them.)

wedding announcement
I just went thru this last year with my daughter...I think it would be appropriate to add where the bride is registered...
wedding announcements

Really, no, girls, this is very tacky, either in an announcement or in an invitation.  Please, let's stick to traditional etiquette.

Wedding gift
If you already have two households of "stuff" you obviously don't "need" the money either, especially since you are going to have a yard sale. Two terms come to my mind - trailer trash and greed - if the shoe fits - put one of them on and leave me off your guest list. Personally, I would make a donation to the children's home, as I no longer send flowers to a funeral when a charity is listed. I send money to the charity and the family receives a card saying that a donation has been made in the memory of the deceased person. Since you don't seem to mind asking your guests for money - may I ask your age and the age of your fiance? Just trying to put this in perspective
What to wear to a wedding-sm

I just can't decide.  It's an evening wedding, outside in a park.  Apparently the bride is going to be barefoot and the groomsmen are in khaki pants.  That's about all I know.

Could I wear slacks and a casual top? Or go with my original plan to wear a dress and sandals?  Or does it matter at all?  Lol.

wedding attire sm
Dress any way you please, I hate it when people say I'm "overdressed". I love to dress up, just be sure your shoes are comfortable and like the others said, outside can get very cold, so bring a nice sweater, shawl or whatever. Just have fun!!! However, sounds like these people could care less what you wear, they sound like they have their own minds, good for them!
