I am not familiar with IT (your Expander program?), but what I do in the instance of something like has been working vs had been working is: hbw = has been working and hdbw = had been working.
The real truth in my case, however, is I have lots of differnt patterns because I keep coming across so many different conflicting phrases.
for the numbers I mostly just go ahead and type the numbers.
