SOme people can drink a "whole bottle" (which could be only 2-1/2 or 3 glasses of wine, depending on the size of the bottle) over 8 hours and not feel any affect from the alcohol. Personally, I cannot - I have a low threshold for alcohol but I occasionally will start to sip a glass of wine during the last 1/2 hour of my shift - maybe 5 times in the last 25 years.
Apparently you have never worked in a hospital, because believe me, there is plenty of drinking going on there - including the doctors. Don't flame me - I didn't say ALL of them - but I worked in hospitals for years and surgeons under the influence did their operations, radiologists read their x-rays, all under the influence. Then, there is the drug abuse - another story.
