Did you watch Hillary Clinton's speech on TV tonight? She touched on a lot of things that MT's are going through right now in this country. But I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that she doesn't even know MT's exist. I think that although she would have made a fine President, possibly she can actually accomplish MORE towards fixing America's healthcare mess, etc. without the distraction of being President.

She talked about wages doing down, jobs being sent overseas, and health care needing to improve. And because she probably doesn't know anything about how medical records are produced, transmitted, stored, etc., she probably has never thought about security risks of sending private information overseas, not to mention potential health risks. Although I very much doubt that HER medical records, or her daughter's, or Barack Obama's or George Bush's medical records are typed anywhere but on-site, you just NEVER KNOW. Imagine if some little deep-in-debt MT in Bangladesh or the Philippines or Pakistan just happened to type very sensitive health information on some important U.S. figure. Sold to the right person or group, it could make them VERY wealthy. OR, having the address, home phone number, SS#, children's names or the names of the school they attend, etc., of a rich & famous U.S. celebrity could have disastrous results, as well.

Anyway, I think that once all the election ruckus ends this year, and as our government officials begin taking their places to prepare for the new year in 2009, would be an EXCELLENT time, as a group, to start really pushing our government to keep U.S. medical records in our own country, transcribed ONLY by onshore U.S. citizens.
