What they don't tell you..

I've worked for one of these companies before. They don't tell you that you're paid in talk time, so you can sit there without calls and you don't get paid anything at all. At the company I worked for the hours were scarce at least during the times I could work -- at 3AM I could have kept busy! Let's just say I didn't make anywhere clost to $12 an hour. You also have to do 'upsells' and it's more than just 'do you want fries with that'. You have to read paragraphs and paragraphs to this person on the other end trying to get them to buy this or that, and once that's over you get to go to another screen and read more and more paragraphs and paragraphs trying to get them to buy even more. If you don't read it all to them you can get canned. They have to tell you that they're going to cancel -- I mean literally those words -- if you read any more to them before you can stop and then you have to verify that it's really what they mean. It's an awful job in my opinion, but some people do really well at it. Just thought you'd want the whole story!
