Where do you live? I want to be sure NOT to move there LOL (see message)

Posted By: MOMT on 2006-08-02
In Reply to: My daughter already started 1st grade - year-round school. Yippee! (nm) - Still have a 2yo at home though!

I love having my 12-year-old home during the Summer, and she loves being here with her younger brother & sister. I would hate year-round school.

they also have the right to MOVE-- They cant tell someone how to live
that is called communism.

Does anyone tell you how to dress?

Does anyone tell you how to wear your hair?

Does anyone tell you what car to drive?

No, it is called FREEDOM.

Move! You live nextdoor to a known cocaine dealer! Yikes!

I would get out of Dodge, between that and the rotties.

Are you plannin to move closer to your family and away from the area where you live now?

Right now, everything is rockin along ok, but he may turn quite ugly because he isn't getting his way and you need to protect yourself and your children.  Have you changed the locks on your house? Are there other ways he can get into the house and if so, you should take care of that immediately.  Have you had the locks changed on your vehicle.  If not, you need to also do that immediately.  Does the school have the papers so that he can't walk in and take your children out of school or pick them up after school?

Believe me, I am glad you made the decision that you did, but I want you to know that I see on TV all too often, disgruntled husbands that come back and get revenge.  I don't mean to scare you, rather to let you know that because I went through a similar situation, you cannot take this lightheartedly.  If you can move away, far away from him and be close to your family, do it.

What would it take for you to be able to move back where you family lives?

Broken down once, never again.

your point is made, why don't you get over it and move on please...(no message)
xx
why no, i don't live in snobville. did you think you knew me? i live in heritage hills a suburb
it takes a little longer to get to work and shopping but thank god i have some privacy and am away from the congestion.  lovely trees and lakes all around.  maybe about 20 minutes to a large shopping mall.  but no, i don't even know where snobville is.
why yes the quality of air where i live is quite different than where the city people live.
Lots of pollution.  That's why everyone is moving away from the city and areas zoned for multiple housing units and low income housing and trailer parks.  Population is dense and near manufacturing.  So yes, the air is different but millions of people pay a little extra for the quality, the space and privacy afforded to those who move out of polluted crowded areas such as you defend.  There is always a reason why some areas and housing is cheaper than others.  Maybe it is the air and maybe it's something you can't quite put your finger on but you know you would prefer not to live in certain areas.  You know what I mean or are you living in one of those areas?  They tell after awhile you block out the sounds, the smells and get used to the pollution.  I don't know.  I didn't stay long enough to test the theory.  My mental and physical health is way too important to me.
I know they live a long time, so if there is a chance they will out live you - sm
make sure you make provisions for them in your will. I have only had cockatiels and some finches, so don't really know anything about the bigger birds. I love African Grey's but they are very expensive.
Venting-why do people keep putting nm and THEN writing a message?? nm means no message - sm
Please put sm if you have a message and NM if there is no message other than your subject line.  It makes it easier when reading these messages.  thanks so much and have a nice day everyone.
Live and let live. Don't force your lifestyle on me.

I used to live in MN now I live in MS and they were both cold last night!
Will take MS cold over MN cold any day, and I don't miss the snow. I miss the Mall of America, though!
I live in PA, can I help? If they are close to where I live, I would go check them out for ya!
Where in PA is this company?
small message. nm means no message

You must live where I live. I ran into the same sort of SM
situation when I was the president-elect of the local chapter and the VP-elect of the state chapter. I bailed out. There was no fighting it.
LOL! Don't live in NH. Live in ConnectiTAX. LOL NM

Can you live on 7.75 cpl or do you need 9.5 cpl. If I could live at the lower, that is what I
:+
I move around A LOT!!! - SM
I ALWAYS take pictures before AND after. When I lived in Florida, the apartment complex tried to charge me $700 to pay for cleaning. They said it was because I had pets and I left kitty litter behind, etc. I DID NOT HAVE A CAT!!! Do not just shake this off. They expect that people will not come back and make a fuss, well let me tell you - I WILL AND HAVE GOTTEN ON AN AIRPLANE to go back to a place that tries to charge me. I rest my case - thank you.
If you would like to move on to
a company that can give you plenty of work, your own accounts and not make your life a misery, please email me.  I have spoken with many MQ people recently and have work, but somehow it seems that many are afraid to leave.  I can pretty well guarantee you a good livelihood and little to no hassle .. and if it sounds to good to be true it is true .. plain and simple.
Move On
Same thing happened to the hospital I worked at. We were told we would be hired by the outsourcers at same pay! Ha!
I didn't transition but the ones who did report the pay was all changed once onboard. Plus the new benefits were horrible compared to what we were use to.

I chose to decline their offer, took unemployment and found a new job on my terms.

Good Luck!

PS: In my state, if you lose your job through no fault of you own (outsourcing) you are entitled to Unemployment Compensation.
If I could move, I probably would.
I'm not happy with the kids in my daughter's classes nor have I met many people that I would choose as my friends.  I have met a few good people though.  It's really hard though being young and single here, not to mention working at home, but I've made a few steps over the weekend to change that.  Small steps, but I already feel better.
Can you move...
That would be helpful. There is no need to be hateful, tell people you are at work from this time until that time, and you cannot be disturbed unless it is an emergency. State the fact and then ask them to respect that! I know what you mean when you say people act like you aren't "really working!" It is annoying!
Me three! Let's move on!
nm
I can tell you that if you move to
Houston, CyFair district is excellent. Far Northwest Houston is really nice, as well as the Woodlands, but I prefer the CyFair district so moved out here instead of the Woodlands.

I personally like the city. My husband could live on a farm. This is a little bit of a compromise for both of us. Texas is gorgeous though. If it doesn't really matter where you live, I would consider the hill country.
Why not move??

you said you have no husband, no kids.....so, you are free as a bird!!!  You would be surprised at what can happen when you change your entire environment.

Good Luck!

I like to get up and move around.

So, two days a week I get to see the world!  HA!  I am a Mom of two.  I start working around 8:30 a.m. and take frequent breaks.  I love hitting the grocery store on a Tuesday mid morning with all of the Mom-Moms and Pops-Pops, and it sure beats the rush on the weekend around here anyway.

I work for about an hour at a time and then break.  I cannot stay glued to the screen as it gives me a headache.  I am very successful and very productive (at least I like to think so).  I do have my own accounts to service, so it makes it hard for vacations, but we get by.

I do work weekends, but not consistently.  Weekends are actually most productive for me since there's not a lot of running around and everyone is ready for couch-slouching by the weekend in my house other than the occasional running one of my kids to a friend's house.

Oh and I should mention, I absolutely love the flexibility of being an IC.  I am my own boss and find it much easier when I need time off to just simply ask myself, "Self can I have a few hours off to go shopping!"  LOL

hey maybe we should all move to

the Pillafeens!  I mean Phillipines

There is a way to move them.
There is a way to move them with Word macros. Email me and I can email you macros and instructions.
You can also move SH this way

Go to Shorthand, File, Open; rt click on the dictionary and copy, then immediately rt cick on your desktop and paste; cancel the file in SH and minimize; on desktop, rt click and Send To Zipped/Compressed File; rt click and send to Email Recipient.

Let's move on to something else. :D nm
.......
This happened to me, and believe it or not, I had to move

Of course, I lived in a mobile home at the time, so it wasn't that bad, but really there was nothing else I could do.  I tried talking to them, being nice to them, yelling at them, nothing worked.  They would agree with whatever I said, then leave the dogs out, TIED UP, about 6 feet from my back door.  It was awful.  I used to go to work crying I was so tired.    I sympathize.

Time to move
I couldn't stand to be around such ignorant and thoughtless people who keep pit bulls anyway.
Colo move
Hi - I used to live in Colorado Springs, but my Mom and brother still live in Denver.  I can't even describe how beautiful it is there.  email me if you want.
Time to move on.
I know that's probably easier said than done, considering all you have invested in them.  Do you really think you can trust this company, even if they were to deliver to you the account you were supposed to be on?  Unless you can truthfully answer that you can, I don't think it's worth it to you to stick around.  We teach people how to treat us by our own behavior.  Unless you take that sign that says "kick me" off, you'll keep getting kicked.  Make sense?  It certainly sounds like you can do so much better for yourself, and that any company would be lucky to have you.   Good luck.
Move to Florida?
z
Don't focus on them. Or if you do, move your
mouse up and down really, really fast to see if it gives you motion sickness. LOL
Sometimes stuff just happens and you need to move on
I sure wish life was a simple as you get married and stay together forever..Life is not that simple and even though we think that we will stay married, things happen sometimes and we find ourselves in a situation we never thought we would be in..i.e., falling in love with someone else or getting divorced cause our spouse has fallen out of love or in love with someone else.  I will not past judgment on anyone who separates and/or goes through a divorce..Been there, never thought I would be..Thought our love was gonna last forever, thought he would never cheat on me..Stuff happens in life. Having gone through it, I realize people grow and sometimes the other person does not grow in the same direction.  Why stay with someone you are miserable with..Life is too short..Nothing worse than living with someone you no longer love or there is so much pain between you that it is even painful just to be in each others company..
Maybe they aren't all like that but the ones who move here ARE sm
Apparently our area is an "escape" for the city folks and then they eventually decide to stay.

Unfortunately for us, they want all the big city stuff that you can't have in the country. Can't have it both ways but they sure try.
It may "work" for you but it is a bad move. (nt)

Wise move.
I've been an IC with many companies and an employee with a few others. I've found that many if not most of the supervisors and managers at these places are dead weight authoritarians who get high and justify their existence by puking on people who work for a living. I left at least one place precisely because they tried to hold me responsible for mistakes made by the dictator. Happens all the time.

I wouldn't wish a future in MT on anyone.
NO-V8 and it could get up and move! loved it!
nm
She is obviously OCD, cannot let it go. I suggest we move on.

How do you move from one document
to another in the WordPerfect program without stopping to reach for the mouse.  I'm guessing there is a certain key(s) such as F1 or something like that that does it but I haven't been able to find it.  Thanks!
smart move. JMO

If DSL was not available where I lived, I'd HAVE to move!

personally, i'd move on
We all fluctuate with line counts; so many variables. But either i'm worth my pay or not, keep me or fire me, but don't drop my pay. Unless you are drastically consistently under a reasonable quota, then think enough of yourself to move on.
Yes! But this was not in MT - I quit to move and - sm
get married. My boss was okay at first with it until he found out I got a job with a minor competitor - in another state; made my life a living *ell after that (I gave 4 weeks notice as I was a pretty key person there). He took it totally personally that I was leaving. He also had no sense or decency. Once after coming back from overseas he came into my office with a large bag of gifts for key/important employees, I made the mistake of assuming he had gotten something for me (I did about 4 people's jobs and was his personal assistant) and had lite up with a big smile. He immediately squashed it and said that there was nothing for me. He was such a scrooge and a *erk. I remember wanting to quit so badly that my parents told me to quit and that they'd support me until I found a new job. I never did take them up on that offer but was sorely tempted. I work for some great people now and in no way miss the *erks out there.
Cut down on salt, and get up and move around sm
every hour or so. If no better, might be a good idea to see your doctor.
It is definitely time to move on

You have gone above and beyond the call of duty with these people and they have just walked all over you. There is absolutely no reason to put up with this kind of treatment. Find another job and then quit this job without notice. They deserve it. Let them try to find someone else who will put up with the things you have dealt with all these years.

And to anyone who has had similar problems - my advice would be, the second time your paycheck is late, start looking for another job. Anybody is allowed one screw-up, but if it happens again, it is probably a pattern. We MTs work hard for our money, and we deserve to be paid on time, just like any other employee.

Good luck to you, OP. I know there is a better job out there for you. I, too, am an IC - I just happened to stumble into a good situation. Feel free to email me if you like, just to blow off steam or whatever. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to help. I will if I can.

Not sure why you would even question. Fix and move on.

Move your office?
As the owner of a house with electric heat, I feel for ya!

I had a Rinnai propane direct vent furnace installed in my living room. It has an electronic ignition, meaning it only uses electricity to start. It will not work if the power goes out. Since having that installed, I have flipped the breakers on the electric heat so it is completely shut off in every room as I no longer need it. I have also moved my office to the living room. I left the fax machine and my files out in my old office, as those are things I only use occasionally. My new "office" really just consists of my desk which has four drawers and all my equipment which fits on my desk.

Every room in my house has a door, so I can shut off the living room, put the heat on, and it's comfortable in a matter of minutes. There is a pass-through between my living room/dining area to the kitchen, so some heat gets out there, but the dining area is an open area that is actually part of the living room. If the temps are in the 0 range, I keep the door between the kitchen/living room open a couple of inches and I open the cabinet doors under the sink so the pipes won't freeze. The downstairs bath's pipes are on an interior wall, but I do leave the cabinet doors open there as well. It's about 58 degrees in the kitchen usually, but it's a nice 68-70 in the living room. At night, about an hour before I go to bed, I let the heat rise up to the bedrooms/bathroom. When I'm done downstairs for the day, I turn the heater down to 60 or put it on 'economy' setting. There's a down comforter on the bed and it's warm enough under that thing. I have to admit though, in the morning I bring my clothes downstairs and put them in front of the Rinnai to warm them up and I get dressed down there!

I haven't used a space heater since moving my office, and I haven't used my electric heat since the propane furnace was installed. The only room I heat for the majority of the day is my living room. If you can move your office to a room you have to heat every day, there's your solution. If not, there are small direct vent units you can install that would be far more efficient than an electric space heater, and safer. You already have gas to the house, and Rinnais can use either propane or natural gas. If your office has an exterior wall, it can be vented outdoors. Rinnai has heaters for one room only. They also have something called a convector heater. You could also install a gas fireplace that would heat your office. There are small and even corner units. Again though, the cheapest thing is to just move your office!

As for your lighting issues, I only use a small flexible neck utility lamp on my desk with a 60 watt light bulb. There other lamps in the room, but when I'm working, I seldom put them on. I only need to see what I am doing at my desk. I hate those energy saving lights. I don't understand the logic in those bulbs. You are not supposed to just toss them in the trash if you get rid of them due to the mercury they contain. You think the majority of the people that use them really take the time and effort to dispose of those things properly? Running a 60 watt bulb in your house is not going to suck the energy from the world. The green/energy/save the whales people need to focus on the big consumers of electricity like industries, malls, hospitals, etc., not the middle-class homeowner and their light bulbs.

Well now, wasn't that a long answer to your short question(s)?

Good luck with the heating issues!
Does anyone know how to move the slider
in the transnet player for Extext without having to use the arrows to get back and forth-it takes too long to manipulate through dictation?  Thanks in advance to the experts!
