winscribe dictation

My company is currently using the Winscribe Dictation system.  Its quite pricey but overall it is good.  You can set it up to do most anything.

Job id#, dictator, type of report, etc and you can also put a spot for chart number to find things easier.  I just wish my docs would use the PC dictate part, as its less combersome then punching numbers on the phone, but overall it is a good product.  Just be sure you get it from someone reliable.

OMG! Footpedal will not operate. Winscribe. I can hear dictation

when I click on the arrow for "play" but my pedal is not registering.  Tried a different pedal and the same thing!  Have a call into the Help desk but I am panicking!

Anyone have any idea would could possibly be wrong????  I have very rarely had foot pedal problems.

Does anyone have any info on WinScribe Dictation System?? Not a transcription program but a digital

Anyone here use WinScribe?

How is it to work on?

Winscribe is not my fav!
I find the sound quality on Winscribe to range from horrid to decent ... usually somewhere in between.  As some authors are consistently worse than others I believe it may have to do with the recording devices on their end, or their recording environment. But I don't really know enough about "the other end" to say one way or the other.  I am getting ready to go to a C-phone account so thrilled to hear that the sound quality is better there!
has anybody used Winscribe before?
I'm new to using it and am noticing some sound-quality issues.  We went from using a Dictaphone C-phone to Winscribe and there is a BIG difference in the quality of the voice files.  There is hissing noise behind every dictation and with some the hissing and scratching noise (like a poor phone connection) is so bad the dictation is like Swiss cheese.  Anybody else noticing this or can give me a heads up on what might be going on?  I know it's not my headphones because I've gone from tons of cheaper sets ($30-$60) to an extremely expensive set of Bose Quietcomforts and even those aren't helping much.  TIA

Does anyone know if there is a spellchecker that will work with Winscribe.

Winscribe

Has anyone who has had Winscribe for their work ever encountereda a problem where it kept saying that either the URL was incorrect or to check my internet connection.  I cannot find a solution for the life of me.

Where do you work that you use Winscribe?--nm

Why does my Winscribe window

disappear between every radiology job (and that means at least one hundred times a day)?   It falls into the abyss known as the margin.  I have to minimize all other windows for it to peek from the corner where I can grab onto it and drag it back into view...arrrrgh

Long difficult day I am having...

I like winscribe except for one thing(sm)
We are not able to see all the work that is available to you in any particular hospital.  (We used to but this feature is either no longer available or has been disabled.)  I don't want this feature to cherrypick but it helps when you're at the end of your shift.  We used to be able to see what was coming up and how long the report is.  The way it is set up now we just have to click on the "next job" function and hope that the report is short enough to be finished before the end of the shift.  There doesn't seem to be a way to return a really long job to the pool, either.  Once it's downloaded to us it's stuck in our cue so we either have to work extra to do it (not a problem if the report is reasonable length) or send an email to have it manually unassigned.  Other than that, I find it's a great program.
Winscribe problem
I am having the same problem, did you get yours fixed?
winscribe pedal
We use Winscribe, all you have to have is a USB or 9-pin. Then once in Internet typist under options you can choose the pedal that works. They give several options.
anybody use RIS and Winscribe in tandem
I have been using these programs now for 8 months and I like them, but I need to know how to work some of the functions better, so as to minimize mouse use, starting to have a sore mouse wrist. I know they can be mouse free as a lot of the functions have the alt letter underlined and I use those, but there are a few functions I don't know how to.
haven't used WinScribe but
I've used EditScript (eScription), Chartscript, and another platform with another company that I believe is their own development.

The only one I have little to complain about is the company developed one. It utilizes the ExpressScribe player and MS Word on my PC. My only complaint is that you have to run the platform (which upload/downloads reports & audio, runs reports, etc.), ExpressScribe and Word so you always have a min of 3 windows open at all times. So add in Shortcuts and an IE window, it starts to get crowded.

ES is ok but took quite some time to get used to it and it leaves much to be desired on the admin side, even with Emon.

At first I loved Chartscript but now hate it only because I keep losing keyboard function while typing/QA'ing in it (arrows, home, end keys stop working and I have to use my mouse which slows me down). I've also noticed that I can't have my email program open while I have a report open in Chartscript too even though it's web-based so I don't understand why it effects my Outlooks like this.
Dictaphone v Winscribe
Just recently switched from WinScribe to Dictaphone.  WinScribe has a lot of hoops to jump through before you can start typing; Dictaphone's interface is a lot more user friendly.  However, having said that, connectivity problems with Dictaphone have been a nightmare; some days it kicks me out over and over again.  The down side to WinScribe is that if you ever have to copy and paste (gasp!) from a previous report, it's real hard to find them the way they are organized.  Dictaphone is a lot easier in that respect.  Both are Word based, so similarities there.  You can still use your AutoCorrect.  Dictaphone has a similar thing called ESPs which are like AutoCorrect; the only thing is that you can't use both--have to choose one or the other.  I could go on and on, but those are the main biggies to me.

cannot install Winscribe

Has anyone else had trouble installing Winscribe?

When I try to install I get the install prompt and then a progress bar, but no progress is made...I can get it installed on other PCs, but not the one I need to work on.  MTSO is no help and I am out of suggestions...I have rebooted, changed web browsers, checked popups, checked security settings, checked firewall settings...I'm at a loss.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!!

I work on Winscribe. There is the ability to
see which MTs are on Winscribe when you go into it. They also can see how many minutes it took to transcribe a report. They probably do averages. I do not know who you work for but I tend to follow the eight hour shift with two breaks and a lunch. It is easy for me since I came out of a hospital setting where I had to work that way.
Other than that do you like Winscribe? The hospital I work for is considering going with them for a

I found this on their website. Hope this helps you.

The WinScribe digital dictation system is a software only platform meaning you can choose the type of hardware that you use and are not limited to a specific model or brand. We work closely with key manufacturers including Olympus, Philips, Grundig Business Systems and VEC Electronics.

The WinScribe digital transcription application is a PC interface that offers an easy to use graphical user interface. You can control dictation playback using a standard foot pedal adapted to connect to the games port on a sound blaster or compatible sound card or a supported USB foot pedal. Any suitable headset may be used.

That should be Winscribe has the best sound. Not Dictatphone. NM

WinScribe demo today
The last time we looked at them was two years ago. They have come along way since then. In their latest version, when you are typing a document on "John Doe" and you want to bring up an older document, it will be one click and a list of all of "John Doe's" past reports comes up. The last time I saw a demo, their editing capabilities in VR were not as user friendly as Dictaphone's, but they are going to let me work it as they said that they have come a long way in this latest version (not quite out yet). Sure is getting to be a complicated job. I almost want to go back to tapes and typewriters - LOL!
Thanks for your feedback!
can any answer a couple if Winscribe questions?(sm)

I'm a fairly new MT and have done all my MT-ing so far with C-phones.  I am being switched to a Winscribe system.  My question is this:  Will the MTSO be able to monitor how fast or slow I'm transcribing?  I'm not trying to get away with anything.  It's just that I've read horror stories from some MTs on certain platforms where the MTSO can see (and calls) whenever they're "off the system" (bathroom breaks, looking up a word, legitimate coffee-breaks) etc.  I work as an IC and have a window in which to get my work done rather than a set number of hours.  What I'm wondering is if the MTSO, with this new system, will now be able to "see" if I'm not typing every single minute.  TIA

winscribe and sound quality question (sm)
I presently work for a company that used to have the hospitals call into their own in-house Dictaphone system.  Recently, we have switched to using Winscribe and I notice that the sound quality has deteriorated.  Why would this be?  I'm not familiar with Winscribe or how it works so I'm not sure if the work is being re-recorded from the original Dictaphone system or what.  Any thoughts?
Winscribe transcriptionists--wav player question
Does anybody know if you can play Winscribe audio files on a basic wav player?
I've used the player part of Winscribe,
which worked fine. I have heard MTs were frustrated with the full Winscribe package, but maybe they have improved it.

Good luck.

Where I am, using Winscribe, the supervisor on duty routine gives updates (sm)
with who is working on a particular account, how many jobs there are, if any have been kicked back (she/he can tell as they are out of sequence, obviously taken into someones local queue and then returned to the pool. The name of those working at any given time is announced, this lets us know if someone comes on board during unscheduled hours without clocking in.

It is great for me as I follow the rules. We are not to take jobs into the local queue (cherrypicking) and we are not to work outside of scheduled hours unless it is granted and there is ample work for the person coming on board so they do not take away from the regularly scheduled MTs. I love my job!
best sound- WinScribe Dictaphone Transnet-NO- see inside
Best sound is Winscribe. Google it. Has excellent, excellent sound, far better than Dictatphone ExtText (see below). Has demographics that are with the job, however I don't know if it has a way to make the demographics automatically download into a document--- my company does its own programming for that. ? May be ask.

Dictaphone ExtText is tedious, tedious, tedious. I don't know why people like it. And the Expander that comes with it is poor, very few features that typists would use and a some that work against you-i.e. it won't capitalize an abbreviation you have put in, even if you type it in caps. I worked on it twice, 5 years apart, and they NEVER upgraded the sound or other features to make it more MT-friendly. A company that puts SO LITTLE EFFORT into their product for the end-user will never get my vote! My input, my opinion.
If I remember correctly, check your footpedal settings in Winscribe. Don't need to panick.

Winscribe is fine where I work. But if a mic is malfunctioning, sound quality is suboptimal.
cc
It's THEIR dictation. They want what THEY are
dictating. If they use poor grammar, etc., that's not the MT's fault!!

Many don't trust the MT to make appropriate corrections and I can certainly understand that.

dictation by doc's
you're absolute right about the hospitals doing something about how doctors dictate and it probably wouldn't take that much effort to do it, but they're not going to do it. If the dictation is wrong, the MT will get the blame regardless.
low dictation
This is several hours of time just disappearing.
? min. of dictation per day

What is considered the average amount of minutes for 7.5 hour day.  I'm thinking 45 to 60 minutes???

PA dictation
You must be lucky! Our group had two PA's and they literally "outdid" each other to see who could dictate the fastest. I got used to them, of course, listening to them all the time but many times had to stop and look up a med to be sure of the dosage because I couldn't tell if they were dictating 5 mg. 50 mg. or whatever! They seem to have an "attitude" too; we had one female one who really thought she was hot stuff. If they were that good, why didn't they spend the extra time and $$ to go to med school???
RE; Dictation
Kept forever. Chart is microfilmed and kept. Regular transcription is kept for 10 years supposedly at hospital I worked for.
I just had a dictation where
he stopped dictating mid sentence in the chief complaint and I Iistened to silence for about seven minutes (maybe he fell asleep, I dunno) and then he says, "hello? hello?" and hangs up!  Gotta luv this job!
60 min of dictation

How long should it take someone to do about 60 minutes of dictation on average.

Thanks you.

60 min of dictation?
My own personal average is about 1 hour for each 15 minutes of dictation.
Can't help with the dictation but...

LOVE YA!

Hope that helped.

Dictation
The problem is that MTs are rarely in the workplace any longer.  When I originally started in transcription years ago, we were in-house and accessible to the doctors. I would tell the the speeders to slow down.  We had one ER doc who loved to look through reference books for words to use.  I would tell him nicely, "If you have to look it up, spell it and save both of us the hassle."  That usually worked.  But now, most of the time, they have no idea who is transcribing their work and as long as it gets done, that's all they care about.
Ever think that maybe 15% is going to QA because of LOUSY DICTATION? nm
x
You never listened to the dictation to know.

No, decent dictators can form complete sentences.  They don't erase every single word interlaced with ah, um, er, then sit there so long that a 15 minute dictation only has 43 lines.  If a person can't complain about having a bad day to her fellow MTs without getting jumped on, what does that say about your personality?  The only B**** I see here is YOU.

Same here. Give me the dictation, I do it - sm
I return the reports, give me the money. End of story.

Worrying about a friendly supervisor is pointless. Just do the work and take the money.
80-100 minutes of dictation
Can anyone tell me approximately how long 80-100 minutes of dictation takes to do with variables I know of a good or bad dictator but on average.  A 60 minute microcassette tape on both sides of 120 minutes, is that something to compare this to? Thank you.
235 seconds of dictation...sm
and less than 20 lines!!!!   And he ends the dictation at 200 seconds, then proceeds to shuffle papers and say "end dictation" 50 times...come on already, END THE DICTATION!  No respect!
